Making some progress on my dress, slowly, very slowly. My friends and I have been having little sewing get togethers every couple of weeks and that has been helping my motivation to this done. Also, I pick up some great tips from everyone on ways I can overcome some of my hurdles when making it!
Here are a few photos I snapped of my dress at a friends Christmas Party. The one on the left shows the long sleeve wrap I made to go with the dress. It is a very messy sewing design, but I really like the look it gave the whole outfit.
Cheers to this whole project being done and hiding back in my closet :)
Finishing touches added to the dress the night before the masquerade. Wow. This was a real treat and a half 😭 Please do yourself a favor and always ALWAYS give yourself way more time then you need to finish a project. Deadlines suck.
BTW I took a TON of footage of me making this dress, so a video on how it was made will be up on my Youtube soon!
Ok. Quick pivot away from knitting and onto my recent sewing project. I decided to make myself a really fancy formal dress for a Modern Masquerade. I have since learned that I am CRAZY for trying to accomplish this... but here we are. Also, peep the new sewing machine! Mint green Janome!
I did document making this dress on my Youtube channel. Part 1 is now up!
Here she is. Got around to making myself a Liston dress by Trama Pattern Studios. I expected this to take way longer, but it was one of the quickest dresses I have made! Super excited to have this in my wardrobe. I am also looking forward to altering the pattern and trying out a few different styles of this dress. Definitely recommended for a loose-fitting fun summer dress!
Also! The fabric is vintage curtains or tablecloths that my friend gifted me over a year ago, so it feels amazing to have made a beloved piece with it!
Finally got around to finishing up my Dottie Angel Frock. The pattern is 1080 by Simplicity. I used version B, which is tunic length, since I didn’t have enough fabric. All in all a fun pattern. Lots of bias tape, which helps create a finished look on the inside, so that is nice. I did have to Google a few techniques that weren’t clearly outlined in the pattern. So I highly suggest this for someone who has sewn garments before.
Of course it isn’t perfect, but for cotton quilting fabric the fit is nice and comfy. It is cute and I finished it just in time to wear in this warm Spring weather.
Current sewing project is the 1080 dress by dottie Angel.
Sadly I didn’t have enough fabric, so my “dress” will be tunic length. This project has been taking me a while to finish. In reality most of the techniques are fairly simple. But the way they are worded in the instructions really makes me stop and think for a bit. So far it is turning out ok. Tonight I plan on sewing up the side seams and possibly finishing the hem. It depends on how spunky I feel.
Also I saw Avengers Endgame and now I have a lot of emotions. This week is going to be great.
