A little sketchbook scan. This one was in honor of the winter jacket I designed and sewed.
I have an orange everyday on my way home from work. My co-workers have dubbed it my "going home orange". Now whenever I start peeling an orange they all assume I am going home 😅
This little painting is honor of sweet sweet oranges.
You can also find it as a print in my shop :)
Just a friendly reminder that if you like my artwork, or want to see more of what I do (other than knitting) you can always check out my instagram or my Etsy shop!
Recently someone purchased a set of yarn stickers from my shop and I tucked this little postcard print in with their order. It is one of my favorite knitting/yarn related art pieces. It is a sweet reminder that becoming yourself is one of the greatest gifts we get in this life.
Every purchase of WIP stickers sets of Yarn sticker sets from my shop comes with this postcard. You can find them here:
This month I decided to try out #peachtober prompts. It has really helped spark my excitement to sit down and spend some time in my sketchbooks. I was sick last week so I had a little more time then usual, so I pulled out my watercolor sketchbook and go to painting! It is so wild to think that it has been almost a year since I have played with watercolors. It felt so good to get back to it. I didn't think drawing every day would be the spark I needed to get excited about making art again.
On top of getting my knitting mojo back, I am also finding the energy to get back into my sketchbook. I am wrapping up a few spreads that have been ignored for months and months. It feels really good to actually want to pull out my pens and draw something. I am also kind of considering doing Peachtober this year. I saw the prompts and they look really fun. I would probably keep it low-key and just do sketches and not full-blown pages.
My Etsy shop is still up and running. I have some really fun Fall art prints available if you are looking for a cute decoration for the season. All of my stickers and cards are also still in stock. Check it out by going to www.etsy.com/shop/MakingUselessThings
It feels like it has been months since I have sat down to paint or draw. I sketched out these little watercolor pieces a few weeks ago, intending to use them as cards, but never got around to painting them. Well, I found the time, and I got to say my patience with watercolor was not there... so instead of slowly building up layers to define the details, I just scribbled over most of the pieces with a pen. I like the way they look, and I am just happy I found the motivation to make something :)
Lives?
So... it turns out I can go live on Tumblr now?!
Is anyone interested in me setting up a knit night where we can hang and knit? You could ask me questions about your projects, I can show you what I am working on, etc. I dunno! I used to do them on TikTok, but lives on there are kinda wild 😅
Probably hope on for about 30-45mins once a week...
Let me know what you think!
Currently running a sale on select items in my shop!
Just wanting to clear out my inventory a little bit. So if you are looking for some cute water bottle stickers or greeting cards go check it out! All my stickers are hand-cut, vinyl, and waterproof. If you want to help support a small artist and their shop please feel free to share and spread the love!
Thank you!
Most of my watercolor designs come in this form. I like a large piece of watercolor paper and I settle in and play around with ideas. I love how many of these turned out. Each one is scanned and edited through Photoshop into its final phase. I love that I can get multiple designs from just a few quick paintings. I am also obsessed with how these turned out. A few of the designs didn't quite make it to becoming cards - like the popcorn string with cranberries and oranges :( But I can always hold onto those and refine the designs for next year.
Also shout out to my favorite colors of watercolor: blue!
Well, Hello there!
It has been quite a while since I have shared anything on this platform. But I am back! For a little bit anyway. Lately, my desk and studio have been turned into a sticker, card, and shop design space. All in preparation for a Christmas Market. It was this past weekend, and it went surprisingly well. Not quite as well as last year's, but more on all that later. For now, I am ready to relax, catch you up on all the happenings, as well as snuggle up with some good winter knitting!
Fall weather is getting me in the mood for cozy things. I know you are all here for knitting... and so am I 😅 I just bought yarn for the first time in ages, and I can't wait to cast on a squishy winter hat. But for now, I have to make it through October... then on to the fun stuff!
Hi everyone!
I just realized that I haven't updated any of you since before my handmade market in September! So crazy. I am currently editing a vlog that documents the process of preparing for my market, as well as all my thoughts on how the market went.
Hope everyone is well! Happy October :)
Packing up Mystery packs to send out. It makes me so happy that people really love these surprise art packs. I started adding a sticker to them, and new postcard designs. So hopefully for those of you who have order a pack before you are getting something new!
