Making Useless Things

Lil Bow Peep is all done! Can't believe I just finished a knitwear project. It seems crazy. I haven't picked up the needles since I cast this off. 😓

I do have another project underway, but I am in the midst of a body change (aka gaining some weight) so I am trying to cope with the idea of making something new for myself. Same goes for sewing my own clothes. It is such a complicated thing to accept. Just adjusting to my body looking different (not bad, or ugly, or wrong) just new! As well as having a very different taste in clothing and how it fits on my body. A lot of my current clothing is very uncomfortable to wear, so I have had to give up wearing some of my handmade items (which breaks my heart) Along with fighting against society's standards everyday 😭 I am also just turning a new page in my style journey too! Which I am excited about exploring. But it does make me hesitant to continue with some of the knits I have had planned. Because I am just not sure if it will bee something I want to wear once I finish it. So, until then, I will be marking things I hope to make, and seeing what new style inspiration comes my way!

Thanks for reading through my little rant. I hope you all understand where I am coming from. My heart goes out to all of you who experience changes in your body, especially serious ones. I know it is part of the human experience to have your body changes. And I truly love myself and my body, and I understand the measures I would need to take to change the things I struggle to accept... but I am also learning that it is ok to be where I am at.

I hope you all can take a moment to thank your body for being here for you. We have such high expectations for our bodies performance, when everyday it is a blessing to be here, breathing.

Geez it has been ages since I have posted anything about knitting. But I finally cast off my Bow Peep scarf. Currently have it blocking. It is such a funky shape. But you tie it just like a bow and it works so well! It is super cute. Not really cold enough to wear it out and about anymore, since I took an age to finish it. But I don't think the bow fad is going anywhere fast... right?

Another little thing I did recently was host a styled shoot with my friends. We rallied together (photographer friends, seamstress friend, and me, floral friend) and had one of the best days! We flew through the 2 hours we had at our rental, but were having such a great time we moved to a park to shoot some more.

It was such a great experience to work with friends. Especially as we all try to grow our portfolios and try out new opportunities to be creative.

The dress my friend made was incredible. And my friend who modeled was stunning!!!

This is also the super soft launch of my floral company... that really isn't a business yet, since I don't really want to take on clients this year. But I am trying to explore what is out there for me on my own through floral design. So we will see where it takes me!

It's been a while. Where have I been?

Well, let's play a little bit of catch up.

First up the end of March was spent installing this crazy piece of floral art at Newfields art museum in Indianapolis. As well as returning the next week and tearing it down. (please note, I was a part of a 9 person team who did all this, this was not my own under taking, or my personal design)

It was an absolutely insane scale. But a wonderful experience over all. I do hate dried amaranth though...

My backyard buddies got a new buddy!!! I am so excited to introduce Mr. Chicken to the team of sassy little creatures. This angry chick is for all of you who need to be sure that everyone knows your status update. Sometimes you really don't care, and its completely fine to let others know!

Sketchbook postcard sets are now in my shop! I am so excited to be adding some new artwork into my Etsy shop. It has been ages since I have had the creative energy to put together some new products. I also am really curious to see what kind of response the art from my actual sketchbook gets. I feel like it is a little different from what I share in my shop. So I am hoping that people like it!

I've got plenty of Mystery Packs and Mystery Sticker packs available in my shop. This is a great way to get a lot of product for really cheap. I have also added a surprise sticker pack to my Mystery Packs, so you get a little taste of everything from my shop!

As I was prepping these stickers for the update, I started to think that I might want to redesign these... it would be a lot of work. But I feel like they could use a better color palette... and maybe some cleaner artwork. What do you think?

A little sketchbook scan. This one was in honor of the winter jacket I designed and sewed.

I have an orange everyday on my way home from work. My co-workers have dubbed it my "going home orange". Now whenever I start peeling an orange they all assume I am going home 😅

This little painting is honor of sweet sweet oranges.

New sticker idea. I am not in love with the art/design of this one. So, it needs a little work before I add it to my shop. But I love the message. I am also exploring adding textures to some of my stickers to turn them into sensory stickers that help with stress and anxiety.

Hey Everyone! My apologies for the lack of updates on my various projects. I have been engulfed in re-establishing my art and stationery business. I am planning an update in March. But its going to be while before I finish up any knitting or sewing projects. haha, its funny because I say that more for myself than for you all. I would love to spend all my time on everything, but time and energy is few and far between. For now my business is going first. Once I have that stabilized, on to the stuff I do just for fun :)

Making some progress on my dress, slowly, very slowly. My friends and I have been having little sewing get togethers every couple of weeks and that has been helping my motivation to this done. Also, I pick up some great tips from everyone on ways I can overcome some of my hurdles when making it!
