Another thing abt this video: nearly every beauty involved is Indigenous or Black, the two minority groups of trans women that frequently get left out of discussions when it comes to highlighting trans women and their beauty, and the two groups at the highest risk of violence while trans. These women deserve love and praise just like y’all’s favorite white women do. Show up for Black and Indigenous trans women.

Lily Hoshikawa (星川リリィ) - Transgender* from the Zombieland Saga anime series

In the eight episode of the 2018 anime series Zombieland Saga, the young undead girl Lily is talking with Sakura about her life before her death. She explains that she was born with a boy’s name and died from the shock of looking more like a boy as she entered puberty upon seeing hair growing on her chin.

When Lily’s story is told to the rest of the zombie girls, they ask their guardian Kotaro if he knew about Lily being assigned male at birth, which he confirms that he did. Despite this, the zombie girls agree that regardless of Lily’s genitalia or birth name, she’s still one of the girls, much to her delight.

*Transgender people are individuals who at birth was forcibly assigned a gender that doesn’t match who they truly are. Some transgender people realize they’ve been treated as the wrong gender early on in their lives while others realize it later. Transgender people may or may not have surgery or medicated treatments to feel more at home with their true gender depending on their preferences and/or life situations.
