so i’ve been applying to film schools and i didn’t realize one of them had a cutoff for scholarship applications at 11:59 november 1 until... 11:00 on november 1. i then proceeded to write a five hundred word summation on the life of john andré and an eight hundred word script on the execution of john andré in under an hour, while having just taken a muscle relaxer. i submitted both pieces at 11:58. then again, if you can tell the entire story while absolutely hammered, you can do anything.
Hey, I haven’t been on this blog in eighty years, but I keep getting notifs? Who keeps bringing my shit back
So, I started a sideblog for all of my non-history related posting. You can find it here. I just wanted an outlet to reblog everything on my dash/in my likes that I’ve been unable to for the past year since I unofficially ~transitioned this blog to one that is history-centric. If you go back far enough, you can see how much it’s changed since I started it six and a half years ago. Don’t do that, though.
From now on, most personal posts will be found there, and you can also learn about my myriad of other interests (if you care)! I’ll still be obsessively tagging everything, lmao. I take my blogging v seriously.
Pls follow me (!!!!), I live for validation.
Someone prompt me to write one of the fifteen posts I have planned before André’s death day anniversary two days from now...
Somebody (me) is going to have a TON of content to put out over the next few weeks re: André's capture/execution. Prepare for the emo. Also, ask me about the parallels between Hale and André's deaths so I can CRY TO YOU.
Maybe this is super petty of me, but it bothers me so much when I see people reblogging my posts of historical André and tagging it as Turn.
More under the cut because I feel like ranting a bit and I don’t need anyone getting pissy.
This is a call-out post for tumblr user @john-laurens, who just sent me links to a Frozen song and related it to Lams. If you’re wondering “can Jac really relate anything to Lams?” The answer is yes. And, also, sometimes maybe it’s better off if she didn’t.
I realize it’s nearly 00:30 on a Tuesday morning and that I’ve rarely posted in two months but I’m going to try and get back in the swing of things now that my job situation is finally settling down (aka I got a new one that isn’t going to suck the life out of me) and I’m finally sort of getting over all of the health issues I’ve been dealing with for the past month.
Don’t expect too much out of me for the time being, but I’m going to do my best going forward. Your André updates will return soon enough.
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I’m way more likely to post if I know someone is actively awaiting an answer from me as opposed to doing it on my own.
fun story jack @majorandre came over and i was showing him my sketchbooks and we were laughing about all the weird stuff and unfinished art i have in there and a drawing of hamilton fell out and i was like here take it i have too much art everywhere anyway and he flips the page over and it’s a super kinky drawing of laurens and hamilton i drew ages ago that i forgot and jack’s face was iconic
the worst part is, that piece of art is now in my possession because i wanted the cute hamilton and now i have to hide the sin side from my family forever.
Post to-do list:
- Updates to André’s family post
- André’s engagement to Honora Sneyd (and its subsequent falling apart)
- André’s friendship with Ann Seward
- André Timeline
- Quotes from The Life and Career of Major John André
- More analysis on Turn, probably, because I’m still not done yelling
- Handjobs for @john-laurens
I would just like to point out that, while livestreaming the particular moment I captured in that photoset last night, @publius-esquire, @john-laurens and I all gasped out loud and shouted “oh my god” at the exact same time.
I can’t believe I just had to defend John André’s fashion choices on the internet.
Highlight of this episode was Simcoe rising from the pew like Dracula
I’ve been mostly done with Turn for a while now (stopped watching halfway through this season –– after the episode with Ben’s unnecessary love scene) but I knew I’d have to come back for André’s capture/execution as well as Lafayette and Hamilton and Laurens, because I’m going to forget Seth is playing Tallmadge and not him all night tonight.
I just hope they get André’s story correctly and do right by him, especially after having reduced him to a sad puppy pining for Peggy and doing weird things with Philomena. I really, really hope they don’t mess it up.
Happy 266th Birthday, John André!
me: types on the internet using little to no proper punctuation or correct spelling
also me: makes fun of john laurens for misspelling liaison
I really only wrote that post to prove that I actually love John André the most
