Something something Amy having a human name, having a human "hair" style, wearing human clothes and wanting to do human teenage girl things like shopping and going on dates, something something Amy living all alone in a city populated almost entirely by humans. I have coherent thoughts about this I swear just not right now
Okay time to expand on this. From a meta perspective we know that half of this stuff is just because Amy is a girl and the Sonic franchise treats girls differently than they do the boys (particularly with clothing which is ew. None of them should have anything to cover up ESPECIALLY the younger ones) but the in-universe perspective on all this is really interesting.
Amy has, like most Sonic characters, a very vaguely defined/nonexistant backstory. What we do know is that by the age of 12 at the oldest, 8 at the youngest (cus her age was retconned from 8 to 12 between CD and Adventure) she travelled by herself to Little Planet just to meet someone that her fortune cards told her would be important, and then if she even had a home then she never went back to it. By the time of Adventure (age 12) she's renting an apartment in a city which really appears to have just Amy as the only Mobian resident, with everyone else being human. All this leads me to believe that Amy grew up without a family, but she also grew up around humans, and I do think that has influenced her, behavior-wise.
Like. She sees human girls in the city who dress up nice and pretty to impress their boyfriends. So she mimics that behavior, goes out shopping for nice clothes to impress the boy she likes. She picks up cooking because that's a human girl activity, and maybe she ends up legitimately liking it, but she didn't pick it up because she was interested in cooking she picked it up because that's what she thought she was supposed to do. And she gave herself a cute name and decided that her and Sonic had to settle down in a nice suburb house with a picket fence and get married and have kids because that's just what she saw all around her growing up. I don't know if this counts as coherent I am so tired but these are my thoughts

Headcanons for Sonic characters' living situations (family/upbringing/housing)
We don't see most sonic characters homes or relatives anymore post-Archie comics, which tbh I actually like bc I like them to stay simplistic adventurer characters in main-line canon, but here's a bit of a masterpost for what I like to imagine in headcanon world lol
Even tho it's headcanons, I like to base them off of canon information (one off dialogue, old comics, less played games), so ull probably learn a lot about their actual canon homes through this read if that interests you team
