For an upcoming group art show in Santa Barbara . I’ve created a photo series titled “Sambos On The Beach” which serves as a didactic critique of Anti-Black and Anti-Indigenous geographic landmarks in Santa Barbara. This piece entitled “Sambos On The Beach” is taken from the signage and slogan of a thriving racist beachside dinner still in business in the sleepy beachside community. This piece serves as an example of the continued commodification and cartoonish dehumanization of Black people in the America.

This image of a street sign in the sleepy beachside community calls out the hypocrisy of Santa Barbara’s sanitized reimagining of its missionary history and the celebratory erasure of the systematic genocide of indigenous peoples of central California.
