Basilisk [woodcut]; Kongelige Bibliotek [Gl. kgl. S. / 4º, Folio 51r], part snake, part cock. The wings of the Basilisk are more like those of a Hawk or Eagle than a RTooster. It is being attacked by a Weasel, the only animal that can kill a Basilisk.
