The giant Suttungr threatens some dwarves for having murdered his parents - Suttungr has captured the brothers Fjalar and Galar, as well as some other dwarves and placed them upon a rock, soon to be submerged by the rising tides (shown here). The dwarves beg Suttungr to spare their lives and offer him the Magical Mead of Poetry, which they explain will allow whoever drinks it to have the ability to recite any information and solve all riddles. The mead is later stolen by Odin and given to the gods and to men gifted in poetry.
