Spoilers from the special edition of Murtagh
No body wants the rant on how much I love Katrina and Roran’s relationship.
But I’m SOOOO itching to post a rant on how much I love Katrina and Roran’s relationship
GIVE!!!
ME!!!
THE!!!
RANT!!!!
I have been convinced.
Rant and ramble in progress you have been warned
They are a freaking power couple.
Roran is so freaking dedicated and in love with this woman he became a war hero (minorly insane..) and basically became a village chief in a matter of weeks all because him main drive was her.
This man survived a kingdom, an ocean death trap, HIS COUSIN, just to love this woman.
Like… okay your boyfriend bought you flowers. Roran bludgeoned multiple trained men and bird demon things with a hammer and the power of love.
FOUGHT MAGIC USERS AND NEVER BECAME ONE HIMSELF because his wifey was near by and needed protection.
AND KATRINA! GIRL DONT GET ENOUGH LOVE!
“Oh she’s so weak” “she doesn’t do anything” “she could have been cooler”
What about a pregnant terrified woman who left her father, her home and her world for the man she loved sounds weak?
If I had been kidnapped by cannibal worshiped monsters, I’d have been dead within 2 days. This girl lasted WEEKS!
She WILLINGLY stayed in a war camp, that was under the threat of attack to help the women and children, and support and love her husband.
Was nothing but supportive and understanding of Eragon and Roran and everyone. Your brother in law walks in with a giant dragon and you think you’d keep your cool as well as she does? HEH! NOPE! Girl freaking RAN with it. Didn’t even bat an eye. AND she didn’t even know Eragon was the dragon rider when rescued. THATS how much trust she had in these two, and that takes some strength.
To become a wife, and mother in a matter of months and have to brave the idea she’d be widowed before her first anniversary takes bravery that not many have.
To fight in a war you had no attachment to UNTIL the woman you love is taken, takes strength. And a thousand times more so, when you do what Roran did.
I love these two with all my heart. They kinda remind me of my own parents in a way. but that’s a separate tangent.
I love this power couple. And I love Katrina for the soft, loving, strong, mother, wife and friend that she is.
I love it when characters in the same book are clearly from different subgenres of the same genre. Like a fantasy book has a character from extremely normal, pseudohistorical, gritty-realistic low fantasy where herding sheep is boring and people shit themselves when they die. And then there's some absolute High Fantasy Main Character mf going "I had a message from god revealed to me in a dream. I am on a quest now."
And the Sensible Realistic Fantasy character skitters after them like what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuuuuck
And then there's some other motherfucker they've never met who's also like that, going like "I received a vision from the divine that it is my task to find this person with an oddly specific but absurdly vague dedcription. You must be him. It is now my duty to aid you on your holy quest."
And the first guy doesn't find that weird in any way, because obviously this is a normal thing that happens to people like this, and just goes "ah, so our fates have been woven together, by the great forces of the universe. It was inevitable that we must meet."
...And meanwhile the person who thought that the first guy was just bat shit insane skitters behind both of them like
what the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuuuuck
@homunculus-argument I...I feel like you just explained the characters of Christopher Paolini's Inheritance Cycle to a T.
I have a feeling the whole banishing of names thing was so Paolini didn't have to name even more dragons that would only be mentioned once. As a someone who likes to write from time to time, that is such a real move, naming characters is the WORST
The main question is will someone torture Murtagh in the new book (again)
unfortunately for him he occupies the narrative position of canon's favorite chew-toy lmao
MURTAGH UVEK AND RORAN?!?!?!
oh my god ARE WE GOING TO GET AN UNCLE MURTAGH MOMENT
1.1 MILLION?! That’s awesome! I—
NEXT BOOK?! Christopher, when I catch you, Christopher
it is foretold on the freaky slab
–Angela Mooneater, to Eragon quite seriously about some actual prophecy
Saphira and Thorn decided to hatch for two long-lost half-brothers whose fathers were sworn enemies, hatch for two of the most stubborn people in the whole of Alagaësia who always manage to get themselves into trouble
Inheritance cycle where everything is the same but from time to time someone makes a modern reference that not even they understand
Eragon: "we have to run"
Murtagh: "no shit Sherlock"
Eragon: "what??"
Murtagh: "I... don't know"
I like a theory that when Brom was dying and he glanced at the place where Murtagh was standing, he thought that it was just a hallucination of the young Morzan. That is why he didn't react to Murtagh
Not finished. Here’s a sneak peak. I know a lot of the frames are still sketches. I’m working on it.
I love eragon so much. He loves being a dragon rider because he loves the connection he has with saphira and the ability it gives him to travel. He loves that he can protect the downtrodden and he tries so hard to be good and does not want to seek out power. He loves learning and magic! He hateeesssss the politics aspect. Its so funny eragon would definitely much rather fly all over alagaesia without a care in the world but hes like i want to help people and to do that i must politick. And hes pretty decent at it at least in terms of ensuring he remains semi neutral as a ride but its so funny he hates it so much. Like hes perfect as the first rider post fall but also i’m sure he wishes he was not the first rider post fall
Hey did anyone else read this scene as a kid and get hit with a sort of soul-deep primal longing that stuck with them well into adulthood
Yes Im pretty sure it drop-kicked me into therapy 😂
Do you see that small red circle in the top half of this map?
That's Alagaësia. It's one very small part of the world of Elëa.
Once again, Christopher Paolini has blown my mind into the stratosphere.
Also people on the eragon subreddit saying nasuada's pov was their least favourite WE ARE NOT THE SAME PEOPLE how can you hate nasuada's pov like it's just banger after banger like using lace to fund an army and then the trial of long knives and then being taken prisoner and tortured by galbatorix and the whole thing with murtagh and she did it all without complaint while grieving without a lick of magic while being a woman....put some respect on her name fr
