New year, new pinned post! I have art commissions open, including character sheets, comic pages, and fully illustrated backgrounds! i haven't stopped thinking about this ever since i read it..

in the alternate version of the shadow clone battle, pohatu basically looked at his deepest anxieties face to face and said "oh i already got over that actually" lmfao, absolute king behaviour

both versions of this battle are such defining moments for pohatu's character and really solidify him as the bestest of boys tbh, like..

his shadow keeps trying to break his trust in the other toa during the battle by saying shit like this and Pohatu doesn't doubt the others for a second, he's not even humouring any of this guy's bullshit lmao

also in the novel version it's Pohatu who hears Onua's suggestion of fighting another toa's clone instead of their own, and it's him who sets it in motion, being the first to make the risky choice to attack another toa’s clone, knowing that his own will still pursue him

he's absolutely the heart of the toa mata/nuva team! 🤎

I like what it implies it about his friendship with Kopaka.

The story bible version shows Kopaka’s shadow as being very similar to Pohatu’s, and basically confirms that Kopaka has social anxiety ( the only other time this is really shown in canon is when Kopaka is attacked by Tuurahk and hallucinates everyone laughing at him).

Pohatu knows Kopaka would literally rather die than ask for help, which is why he goes out of his way to visit Kopaka when times are tough, even if he knows he’s going to get a frosty reception.

pohatus very important observations on who is available for body heat sharing via snuggling, cuddling et al

  • Lewa: yes, serial snuggler
  • Gali: yes, appreaciates it
  • Onua: yes, great hugs
  • Tahu: yes but you have to goad him into it, es. "will you man up and cuddle w me". the warmth is worth the annoyance
  • Kopaka: the flesh would be willing but the soul is so complicated about it. lay down back to back with him and pretend to sleep to make him slowly turn around and snuggle. WILL wake up early to destroy the evidence. the chill is worth the annoyance
  • Turaga Metru: only yield to 2-second-long cuddles if exhausted. if you pile all six on one another they will automatically snuggle together though
  • Toa Hagah: only with each other and still very professionally
  • Turaga Dume: no (the warmth is NOT worth it)
  • Takanuva: yes, serial snuggler no. 2
  • Jaller: yes but you have to sort of casually brute force him into it. will fall asleep five seconds into snuggle
  • Hahli: yes but a bit shy
  • Hewkii: yes, loves a hearty cuddle
  • Kongu: no (very formal)
  • Nuparu: no (very awkward)
  • Matoro: the soul appreciates the thought but the flesh needs space. if you tell him youre available for snuggles he will keep it in mind and come to you when hes in need. very pleasant chill
  • Hafu: yes, especially if youre warm
  • Tamaru: yes, curls up nicely on your chest
  • Taipu: yes, splays himself like a corpse
  • Macku: yes but prefers Hewkii. fair
  • Kapura: yes. hes a perfectly still hot water bottle. delightful.
  • Kopeke: no (leave him be)
  • Krahka: yes, surprisingly
  • Pewku: yes and its good for your mental health
  • Jaller's crab: no (rocket launcher)

Krahka thinks a bit about what her new job actually entails before focusing on the task at hand. Nokama has asked her to try and get Tahu and Kopaka to get along better. She shows off her shape-shifting to them a bit, then tells them that in her professional opinion they're actually very similar and also they should just beat the shit out of each other and that will solve all their problems. After school, they go to Kopaka’s house and fight in his backyard. They're both incredibly annoyed about the fact that it did make them feel better.

Ok wait hang on. Consider the following. Human!Kongu. Leaves Metru Nui, and he doesn't have a beard, right, but he starts growing one through 2006 to 2007, and at the start of 2008 he gets warped back to Metru Nui, and he has like a really big beard. Because the Zatth has the mass of "tentacles" at the bottom. And no-one recognises him.

Best I can figure is I was trying to put him into sports medicine or something but yeah i could’ve picked literally anything and chose medicine. Why.

I do love that Vakama is the one giving romantic advice. He’s perhaps not the most qualified in that area. It’s very in character that he wants to help though Also I presume you put Onewa on cataloguing mostly to torture him.

Neither of them have any right to be giving out romantic advice but Matau cannot be stopped and Vakama is genuinely baffled that this keeps happening to him.
