He has, again and again, donated so much to Gotham. He is probably the only thing keeping that city afloat. The only reason he hasn’t gone bankrupt is A) Wayne Enterprises is INSANELY successful, B) he comes from vast generational wealth, C) he has very smart people managing everything (and they still generally prioritize the betterment of all than the board members), and D) he needs that wealth to also help fund Batman, the extended Bats, the JL, and beyond.

Also because Bruce Wayne lives in the DC universe where every Very Rich Person is either a superhero, a barely named background character/npc, or a supervillain.

Also, Gotham is historically and comically corrupt in the government. They’ve used orphanages to funnel kids into crime. There has been maybe one mayor in the Batman Cannon Comic History that was plot-critical and not villainous (again, comically so - with them trying to destroy Batman and targeting Gordon across multiple mayors). Bruce would probably be lobbying for himself and every other Rich person to get taxed more if it weren’t for the fact that it would just end up lining some corrupt government official’s pocket.

And that’s just Bruce.

This is actually a full on interactive map! You can put your cursor over any structure to focus on it and see its name, you can focus on all the structures that are part of a specific pathway and, when you click on proteins, you open it up on PhosphoSitePlus, which is a curated database of proteins and their post-translational modifications. It has a helpful description and summary for each protein!

This is a HUGE complementary resource for learning molecular biology! It really helps to make sense of each individual pathway and it puts everything into perspective. It only focuses on human, rat and certain other animal cells, so it won’t have all the pathways one would wish to see… But for the pathways it does include, consider opening the image and accompanying it as you learn or revise them!

I love all the possible implications from: “Mama is trans and wasn’t out back then”, “Mama successfully committed feminist voter fraud”, to “Mama just fucking voted and the people running her local ballot box knew what was fucking good for them and stayed out of her way”. 

I don't know where it came from, but several years ago this idea popped into my head unbidden, and for some reason it tickles me. I don't know if it's funny, but I like it and I made it into a zine, I hope you enjoy it.

It lays out really nicely as 3-up spreads on A4 paper, so you can print, staple and fold it, then cut it into 3 zines. It made it really easy to print up 20 of them to trade at this art social thing I went to
