tumblr just deleted a huge swathe of palestinians who were on here trying to fundraise. if you've been helping any of these fundraisers please take this time to 1) check in with palestinians you're in contact with 2) help them submit support requests if needed 3) keep these campaigns circulating while the beneficiaries are being silenced. these campaigns are life or death, this isn't just social networking. do not let these fundraisers languish.

Palestinians who've reached out to me today after having their blogs deleted (sorry if I don't have your most recent former account):

All Vetted Fundraisers!! See info below!

Palestine campaigns with under a thousand donations

Trying a new tactic with the fundraisers on my pinned list. These campaigns appear to gain a lot more traction when the number of donations hits a thousand, so here's a way to highlight those that could use more. These have all been vetted by Palestinians on Tumblr. Just like the main list, I'll keep you all updated with how things progress, and as always, if you can't donate, reblog.

Nearing 1000:

1000 donations:

Wonderful news! The Shorbaje and Abushammaleh campaigns have both broken 1000 donations! However, their campaigns are far from over, which is why I continue to include the links at the end of this post. My goal now is to get at least 500 donations for each of these campaigns, both of which consistently need more traction than they get.

Not sure why it's like pulling teeth to get people to donate to some of these, while others on this list receive at least 10 donations a day. Of course I'm thankful for any of them gaining traction as it means these families have a stronger lifeline, but some consistency across the board will help even more. And yes, if you can't afford to donate, reblogs and shares help immensely as well.

once again thinking abt ORV as one of the most brilliant and self-aware genre commentaries ever, cus' isekai/transmigration is-- in my experience-- a deeply lonely genre. the yearning to be plucked from the stress and apparent dead spiral of real life and dropped into a setting where you matter somehow. the fact that this transmigration is often by way of death, completely abandoning the real world, is particularly telling and... bleak. but whether it's a recognition of being 'the most baddass dude', the narrative satisfaction of trying to 'fix' the plot of a doomed story, or even just befriending characters we've laughed and cried for, we want so badly to be a part of something more.

and the way ORV recognizes that and doesn't mock it, but gently reminds us that... real life isn't removed from that. it may not be as straightforward and 'narratively' satisfying as a constructed story, but we can enact change in the world around us, and we can find connection and solidarity in others. the things we want from escapism are things we often can achieve in real life, at least on a small scale. if only we recognize the inherent depth and complexity of others as, y'know, fully-realized human individuals. hell, if we recognize ourselves as more than simple characters with set paths and tropes.

ORV takes every opportunity to remind us that we are not alone, no matter how bleak and isolated we feel. our lives are constantly touching others and vis-versa, and we leaves marks on the world we can't possibly predict. we matter, we always always matter
