I’m looking for Outerbanks Fanfics, where either an original character or John B and JJ, take all the money or most of the money in the safe of the motel room.
I got this idea from Golden Pogues by mellowenglishgal. I always thought they should’ve taken more money, but seeing it written just made me want to read more of these. I have read many original character OBX stories, but they have all followed the plot in terms of taking the money. It’s just always JJ takes a stack and the gun.
Please let me know if anyone else has read stories like Golden Pogues!

The pogues spend the next few hours among the waves, surfing their hearts out until they’re waterlogged, exhausted, and hungry. As the sun starts to sink over the island they pile into John B’s beat up Volkswagen, all their boards tied together on the roof, and head to The Wreck, where Kiara’s dad begrudgingly feeds his daughter and her ‘delinquent’ friends.
That word seems pretty harsh at first but as the evening goes on and the group gets a little louder, it’s kind of well-deserved. Pope can’t seem to stop dropping his fork, sending the rest of them into hysterical laughter each time, and everyone knows when Taylor Swift comes on the radio, Sailor has an obligation to get up and dance. The fact that she knocks a chair over in her haste to show off her moves only makes them laugh harder. When they finally leave and head back to the Chateau for the night, she makes sure to put forty bucks on their table for the food and the twelve pack of beer Kiara swipes from behind the bar when Mr. Carrera isn’t looking.
summary: while mother nature isn’t very kind to the obx, jj’s dad is even worse to him. sailor sees the aftermath, relives a day that changed her life forever, and realizes she’d be down with murder if she could get away with it. between nutella sandwiches, story time, and a shared bed, an unspoken thing slowly starts to become a little more real.

a/n: i was so excited to write this part, not gonna lie (if you couldn’t tell, just look at that word count). hurt/comfort is my shittt and i’m a pretty big slut for physical comfort/touches so i kinda went ham with it lol. i’m also very happy to finally introduce everyone to peyton, who’s a character i really love and enjoy writing, especially her relationship with her gf alison. both of them will get some time to shine in this part, peyton in the present and alison in the past! as usual, this is unbetaed so all mistakes belong to me. enjoy!

It rains the entire week. Scratch that -it storms: the whole island buffeted by howling winds and blanketed by a thick layer of dark and angry clouds that make life just shy of miserable. For someone who spends 99% of her time outside like Sailor, miserable doesn’t begin to cover it. And to think, it’s only the beginning of hurricane season.
The redhead props her chin in one tan hand as she leans against the cool marble counter of The Butterscotch Bonnet Ice Cream Parlor, watching the rain pound against the shop’s bay windows. Across the street she can just make out the rough, gray surf of the Atlantic through a tiny gap in between two buildings and she sighs wistfully, thinking about all the beautiful shells getting tossed onto the beach by the waves. She’s half tempted to just throw off her apron, hop the counter, and make a break for the sand, storm be damned.
I too, am a hoe for hurt/comfort, I LOVED this, your writing is immaculate, and I can’t wait for the next part!!!
also I totally caught the stranger things reference and we love to see it!!!! I’m rewatching the series with my dad for the millionth time and we just finished season 2 tonight, I can’t wait to see my baby robin buckley 🥺

I had to. I mean, Pogues don’t lie to Pogues, right? And plus, JJ just laughed at me because you shot me down, so.
Oh Sweet, sweet JJ. He is my favorite character hands down. At the beginning of the season they showed us a reckless kid from the wrong side of the tracks that only cared about hooking up, drinking beer, smoking weed and being with his friends. But he is so much more. JJ is hilarious, I've laughed out loud with his comments all the time, things like:
"just give me the John D already"
"Rose you look like Lady liberty"
"Housekeeping"
Were stupid little things that made him more likeable. He also did crazy shit all the time, like firing a gun in the middle of a party when they were supposed to be laying low, stealing said gun from a crime scene, stealing from a drug dealer,...
But all his craziness is rooted in a deep love for his friends. He has a very difficult life, his father is a drunk asshole that beats him up all the time, which has made him kind of desperate for love, and the Pogues love him. So, he takes matters into his own hands and decides to do wathever is necessary to keep them safe. He fires the gun to save John B, he gets into a fight with Rafe to defend Kie, he takes the blame for Pope, risking going to jail so he doesn't loose his Scholarship. He doesn't hesitate to go back to his house, after the worst physical fight with his abusive dad, just to save John B from going to jail. Also, we can see that JJ is terrified of his father, while still hoping to make him proud. That's why he steals the money, so that he can show his dad that he can sort things out by himself, although this doesn't go as planned.
It's so sad that he behaves this way, because it shows that he has given up on himself completely. He puts his life on the line all the time, and I think that in his head all his friends are going somewhere in life; Pope is going to college, John B gets by just fine and Kie is rich, and he's not.
Also, I think that he doesn't pursue Kie for real, choosing to playfully flirt with her all the time instead , because he doesn't think that he deserves someone like her. She's hot, nice, smart, funny and rich. And that makes her unattainable, at least in his head. How could someone like her want to be with someone like him? When not even his own dad seems to think that he's worth it.
One of my favorite things about JJ is that he's a big softie. When you see him hanging out with the Pogues, is when you can appreciate it best. He has a fondness in the way that he carries himself around them, that warms my heart.
He truly deserves good things to happen in his life next season.

-getting to see his vulnerable side. the side where he’s unsure whether or not he is deserving of love because if his own dad doesn’t love him, how could anyone else?
-cupping his face in the palms of your hands and looking him directly in his eyes, you sternly reassure him that he deserves the absolute world and more.
- “look at me” you say, “don’t ever say that. you don’t deserve any of the bullshit your dad puts you through. you deserve so much better than you even give yourself credit for”.
-you being the only person he tells about his dad.
-him never being able to take his eyes off of you. always observing every little thing about you. every outfit you wear. your mannerisms. your laugh.
-smiling at you while he’s observing you because he’s crazy in love with you.
- “stop fucking staring at me”
-always telling you how perfect your body is. every time he sees you in your swimsuit he has to tell you how beautiful you are.
-him grabbing your ass with both hands while he kisses you.
-you sitting in between his legs on the boat.
-you don’t like how much he smokes but always admiring him when he’s rolling his blunt.
-him being beyond stubborn and hard-headed.
-you being the only person he somewhat listens to when he’s on one of his rampages.
-being absolutely livid when you found out he took a gun from the motel.
-being absolutely livid when he robbed a drug dealer.
- “JJ you’re on fucking probation and you’re robbing and pulling guns on people. Is this the life you wanna live for the rest of your life? Keep on this fucking path and you’re gonna end up like —”
-realizing what you’re about to say and stopping.
- “you just need to get it to-fucking-gether” you say to him before walking away.
-him being absolutely torn up every time you guys have an argument because his biggest fear is losing you.
-him refusing to do the whole ignoring each other thing after a fight and demanding that y’all talk through your problems.
-him thinking he’s not good enough for you.
-you thinking you’re not good enough for him because of how other girls practically throw themselves at him and he could have any girl he wants.
-him being the jealous type.
-and the overprotective type.
-him almost choking Rafe to death when he tried to touch you.
-him not being able to fully communicate his feelings because he was just never taught how.
-you being patient with him because you understand the trauma he’s been through.
-getting pissed at the pogues when they told him they’re tired of his shit.
-you yelling at them and reminding john b. that JJ was the one who saved him when Topper almost drowned him.
-reminding pope that JJ’s the one who took the fall for him when he almost got arrested.
-reminding kie that he was the one who defended her when the kooks were fucking with her.
-them not having shit to say because you’re fucking right.
-him pouring his entire heart out to you and telling you how much he’s in love with you and how he wouldn’t know what to do if he ever lost you.
