Listen, if you liked TLJ, more power to you. But I can't help but resent it more and more the longer time goes by.

I still can't get over how it had the First Order essentially take over the Galaxy within the blink of an eye after their major trump card had been blown up without even a hint about how the fuck they accomplished it.

I still can't get over how the New Republic went from the major power in the Galaxy to consisting of, like, a dozen people practically overnight with no explanation.

I still can't get over how Finn's past as a stormtrooper who was kidnapped and enslaved as a child was used as a plot device but basically ignored in terms of his characterization, to the point that Rose gave him a lecture on the evils of slavery.

I still can't get over how it split up the two characters who had the most on-screen chemistry and one of the most well-developed relationships from the previous film.

I still can't get over how the only meaningful way it advanced the plot was by killing off the Big Bad.

I still can't get over how the stakes felt like the mid-season episode of a TV series and not the second film in a trilogy.

I still can't get over how the only additional bit of worldbuilding--Canto Bight--went out of its way to establish that the rich and powerful of the Galaxy do not give a single fuck about which side of conflict wins, further cementing the impression that the rest of the Galaxy is just kind of...getting on with their lives. That, beyond the personal stakes for the characters we see on-screen, none of what's happening actually matters.

Like, TFA has issues too. It's fundamentally a soft reboot and not really a sequel. But TLJ also felt like a soft reboot instead of a sequel. It had the chance to build up the bare bones established by TFA...and it tore them down instead.

And then I still have people trying to make out like it's a moral failing, or a sign of being some lore-obsessed loser with bad taste, that I didn't like it.

It's very, very frustrating.

Misandry is the idea that all men need to be taught not to rape.

Misandry is telling all men that they’re oppressors. 

Misandry is entire countries having laws and crime definitions that specifically and only punish men.

Misandry is demanding men not receive the same government funded abuse shelters as women have because of a personal opinion on only men being capable of domestic violence.

Misandry is ten thousand boys being murdered for being boys by terrorists with little to no media coverage, while just 200 girls being kidnapped by the same terrorists in the same areas get constant media attention and support from celebrities and politicians alike to protect them.

Misandry is having to sit in the principal’s office, bleeding from multiple scratches across the face, arms, and chest, covered in dirt and bruised to shit, and having to *apologize* to the girl who pushed you to the earth and attacked you for not wanting to play with her, because you gave her a black eye while trying to get her off of you.

Misandry is glorifying or ignoring women’s crimes, laughing or shifting blame whenever they murder, rape, or steal.

Misandry is going after people funding shelters for men, tearing down people who even try to help them, because they’re all “demons serving the patriarchy”.

Misandry is exploiting gender stereotypes in order to ruin people’s lives.

Misandry is being forced into a role, locked out of the luxury of certain choices that are basically guaranteed to be accessible to the other 50% of people in the world.

Misandry is the law saying men can’t be raped.

Misandry is being laughed at by peers or told you should’ve liked your sexual abuse.

Misandry is glorifying psycho girlfriends breaking their boyfriend’s shit and abusing them.

Misandry is men making up the overwhelming percentage of workplace deaths and all suicides.

Misandry is men not being able to express their emotions because people will accuse them of being gay or a pussy.

Misandry is when you get longer sentences than women for the same crime.

Misandry is the fact that men lack any reproductive rights

Misandry is the fact that it’s considered misogynistic to talk about any of the above problems, and feminists like @apupcalypse mock and belittle us for doing so.

Misandry is me being someone telling you you’re worse than cis men because you “chose” to transition

Misandry is seeing male patients in an in-patient facility little to no advice besides shaming

Misandry is hearing stories about your suicidal father getting little to no support because his abuser was his mom

Misandry is brushing off all the stories I can tell about men having their lives ruined by women as anecdotes while all the stories you can tell about women having their lifes ruined by men are proof that men are evil.

Misandry is being a father, not getting any money from the woman who you love, who wants to divorce you, who forces you into a trailer park. Then, your daughter is tricked into falsely accusing you of physical abuse upon the children so your wife can keep the kids. And of course, the majority of people believe the mother’s side of the story— because she’s a woman and therefore obviously not as threatening to the children.

When your daughter talks about her experience years later, she’s told to shut up, because her father didn’t try hard enough to keep her, while you were still trying to keep yourself off of the streets.

Why are antifeminists so threatened by the belief that there’s a gender wage gap?

Even if feminists are wrong and there actually is no gender wage gap, exactly what harm is caused by believing that there is one?

Well, here’s a real life example: there are hundreds upon hundreds of special scholarships, grants, and incentives aimed exclusively at women to get a college degree, while men are left out to dry, because of the assumption that women are oppressed scholastically.

Here is the problem: females actually outperform (at least on paper, I won’t go into anti-boy bias here) males at every level of schooling. Because the belief is the exact opposite of the reality, the ‘solution’ implemented not only doesn’t fix a problem (because it never existed in the first place), it doubles down on the actual inequality, and enlarges the divide. Today, men get something like 20% fewer college degrees than women. And no one cares, because everyone is still fixated on closing a non-existent gap by giving women and girls special treatment.

There is much harm in believing something is a problem when it isn’t.
