To think Joker burn Batman and he'll probably never know Bruce obviously knows that he did in fact burn the Joker
Episode: Joker Wild
Bruce has probably been waiting for a moment like this for years. He can’t do it as Batman, his crime fighting persona has an image and standards that go with it. But Clueless Billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne can take those cheap shots to take that stupid clown down a peg.
We don't appreciate the fact that Bruce Wayne is a Kardasian level celebrity enough. Everyone knows him. I want more one shots and crack fic moments where the League (Pre identity reveals) just openly talk about Bruce Wayne in front of Batman.
Just imagine them playing fuck, marry, kill with famous actors and such and throwing Bruce into the mix. And Batman just sits there, silently suffering as he listens to the reasons why Flash and Lantern would marry, fuck, or kill him. He prays they choose kill. They don't.
BRUCE: I’ve created jobs by keeping Wayne Enterprises in Gotham. I’ve provided scholarships to every employee of my company and I offer them to others as well. I’ve built orphanages and hospitals, including mental health facilities. I’ve provided jobs to ex-felons right out of prison so they can rebuild their lives. I’ve supported pro-reform political candidates and the few honest cops in Gotham City.
BRUCE: It’s going to take time to reform the system and lift this city out of poverty and corruption, so I think I’ll spend my evenings protecting the people who live here. Tonight, I’m going after the criminals preying on the sex workers struggling to make a living in Crime Alley.
BRUCE: And once I’ve kicked some ass, I’ll offer their victims jobs at Wayne Enterprises so they can get off the streets and have stable, safe, legal employment. I’ll pay for any education or training they might need.
ALFRED: Don’t forget your cape, sir.
there was an entire episode of the 90s series ‘the forgotten’ where he personally visits a homeless shelter he funds, discovers some homeless people who frequent it have gone missing, then to find out where they went purposefully pretends to be homeless to be beaten up, captured, and taken to where the other homeless guys were being used as slave labor
he legit willingly submits himself to torture and nearly dies trying to help homeless people, at least one person actually died in this situation he willingly entered then when he gets out straight up has Alfred pull the limousine up with job applications for the guys he was locked up with
-that- is how to batman
This is reason number two modern cinema doesn’t get Batman.
If you can’t picture your batman as Matches Malone, or getting the ventriloquist into a job at Wayne enterprises, you’re not picturing batman.
(the first test is “Can you picture your batman taking time to comfort a lonely, scared child?”)
Modern Cinema nothing, the fact this stupid, stupid, STUPID take just refuses to die is another demonstration of why Hobby Gentrification is a plague: goddamn commie idiots can’t be bothered to engage with the material they spent the past 20+ years bullying us for liking, so they pull shit out of their ass to justify their worldview.
A probable reason Batman doesn’t kill is because Wayne industries profits off the goons medical expenses after being treated at a Wayne hospital due to batman related injuries.
“Batman bad. Why rich crazy man beat up crazy clown? Why not use money to send R'as al-Ghul to college?”
If Batman could give every villain money to go to therapy and college he would. That’s literally what Batman wants more than anything. He stands for reformation and redemption. He doesn’t kill because he believes that every one of his villains can become a force of good
Seriously, one of the most common arcs in Batman is the villain of the story rampaging due to a personal problem, Batman stopping the immediate threat, and then helping villain during the epilogue, or going after the real, “establishment” villain behind it. Hell, most Batman villains with serious financial or mental health get treated sympathetically, apart from the Joker, because the comics need a boogie man. The real bastards are usually sane and wealthy, like Rupert Thorne and Black Mask.
Why Batman The Animated Series is the best incarnation, every other episode was just that. So I’ll use the best one as an example.
Yes, Freeze is the immediate threat because he’s totally fine with killing any innocent person in his way just to get at Boyle, but that doesn’t mean Boyle is off the hook after Freeze gets taken down. The great “humanitarian” of Gotham is still gonna have a lot to answer for in court when he attempted to murder a terminally ill woman and her husband rather than simply hear Victor Fries out.
So his reputation is trashed, he’ll lose his job, and do prison time for attempted murder. Meanwhile Freeze is in Arkham to get treatment for his physiological and psychological condition while his wife is also looked after, probably by the Wayne Foundation.
