"My wife can stab me a little bit I don't care." for Juke pls? 😊
“Oh my God Luke! Are you ok?”
Victoria heard Julie yell as she spun around from the stove to see what had happened.
Luke was holding a towel in his hand that was slowly turning red as Julie dug under the sink for the first aid kit she assumed.
She quickly turned the burner down and rushed over to them. “What happened mijos?”
For the writing prompts: "I hate when people ask me to explain my thought process. Like hell if I know."
Whichever characters you so desire!
“Mr. Patterson!” The reporter yelled over the crowd.
“Luke.” He grinned as he stepped closer to the mic.
“Luke.” She smiled back at him. “This is the band’s third platinum album. A huge success by any standards.”
He smiled and waved as fans screamed his name from behind the barriers. “Thanks, it was a group effort.”
“Well, that’s just it.” She leaned forward, putting the microphone closer to his face. “You are the lead writer on every song but two on this last album and you’re still listed as a contributor on those.”
Luke nodded.
“What inspires you? How do you write such amazing songs? What’s your thought process?”
"I hate when people ask me to explain my thought process.” He laughed. “Like hell if I know."
The interviewer laughed but stayed leaning toward him. He was going to have to say something. God he hated this part of going to an awards show. Even when he and the band were up for this many awards.
“As far as how it’s like I said. It’s a group effort.” He looked down the reception line spotting Alex with Willie a few reporters away. Reggie and Carrie were already out of sight. He hated that they couldn’t stay together but their manager liked them to talk to as many people as possible and they could cover more ground if they split up.
“As far as what inspires me.” He glanced over at Julie talking to the reporter next to him before turning back to the reporter with his best camera-ready smile. At least Julie stayed close. It was always hard to know what to say when it came to her, because she was the answer. Had been the answer since the beginning.
But that was a secret to everyone but their family.
“Life is inspiring.” He spread his arms wide. “A song can be found anywhere, in anyone. You just have to know where to look.”
“Thank you Mr. Patterson.”
“Luke.” He winked and chided the reporter again.
He felt a hand on his arm as he turned away. Julie smiled up at him as her hand slid into his. “Ready to go in rockstar?”
He laughed and waved at the reporter and the crowd behind her as she led him down the red carpet. They paused for pictures with the rest of the band and he couldn’t help leaning in to whisper in her ear. “Next time we have to do this I’m not talking. It’s stressful.”
“It’s because you can’t keep a secret to save you life,” she said through a grin.
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
“It’s not, but we promised Andi we’d make a proper announcement.”
“Fine.” Luke leaned into Julie’s hair practically feeling the blush on her cheeks. “Mrs. Patterson.”

“Alex—”
Alex stands up, surer in his anger than before. He begins to pace the empty studio. Willie leaps up behind him and watches, distraught, as Alex’s feet wear onto the floor.
“Most of the time I overthink things and try to compensate for it but ooooooh no, I can’t do that, because then someone is wondering why I’m apologizing from something from three months ago because I don’t know how to stop it from repeating like an embarrassing story in my head—”
“Alex.”
“—and sometimes when I talk about why I’m nervous or worried I get looked at weird for being nervous which I can’t help! I’m just nervous! I get nervous! There’s nothing wrong with getting nervous, right? I mean I get why people might get upset if my nervous makes them nervous, like that thing with Julie last week, we just kept feeding off one another and Luke had to make me physically leave the room—”
“Alex, seriously.”
“—I’m anxious! I’m nervous! Explain your thought process! It’s everything all at once! I don’t know! I think about every single thing that can go wrong or that will go wrong or that might go wrong and they don’t wanna hear about that! What did you do what you did? How did you remember that fact you told me three years ago! I don’t know!”
“Alex!”
Alex stops in his pacing. He’s breathing heavy and he’s not sure how and he’s not even sure he’s coherent or making sense or that he hasn’t just jumped from one issue to the next. He turns to blink at Willie, who’s crossing the room to rest his hands on Alex’s shoulders. The other boy shakes him a little and Alex wobbles at the knees.
Then Willie reaches forward and pecks Alex on the lips. “Breathe. I just asked why you asked me if I was enjoying myself for the sixth time.”
Alex nods. He blinks rapidly, and then he goes, “Well. Are you?”
“Promise.”
“Okay.”
“I think we gotta work on your confidence.”
“Luke and Reggie have been trying for thirty-two years.”
Willie grins. “Consider me back up. Come on, Hotdog. I want this date to keep going.”
this is over by like sixty words gfhdjkfhsdk and i couldn't cut it down. i think it ends rather abruptly but. ah well. thank you!
"I'm a nice person but I'm about to start throwing rocks at people." for juke
“I'm a nice person but I'm about to start throwing rocks at people.”
“They’re just excited about their favorite artist?” Julie offers, shrinking down and trying desperately hard not to make it look like she’s having an invisible conversation with herself.
Luke scowls at the crowd of people waiting outside of the Trevor Wilson concert. Crowd controllers are ushering people into the various lines. If Julie had known this was happening, she and Luke would’ve gone a different way.
“Their favorite artist who’s a poser! A hack! And they just—”
Luke groans and runs his hands through his hair. Julie pats his back, smiling in sympathy. She gets it. But their time is coming. Julie and the Phantoms will be bigger than Trevor Wilson. She knows it for sure.
"With all due respect, which is none." Juke and 279 pls :)
“With all due respect, which is none!”
Caleb’s eyebrows rise like he’s a scolded teacher unimpressed with a child’s petty attempt at a comeback.
Luke stands firm though, fists clenched at his side. He’s standing protectively in front of Julie, his whole body shaking with rage. Julie herself is shaking, fear crawling up her legs and arms and settling in her spine. Her whole body wants her to run away but there’s nowhere to run, and Caleb is a ghost. He can go anywhere he wants.
“I don’t care,” Caleb says. “Your admiration means little to me.”
Caleb begins to circle them, and Luke jumps to keep Julie safe, reaching back and holding onto her wrist with his shaking hand. She lets him, but she also doesn’t know what it’ll do. It doesn’t keep either of them from the fear that’s pooling, manifesting like a wraith.
“Leave. We’re not going with you.” Luke’s voice shakes as he speaks.
“I won’t go with you,” she says, joining him. She steps closer, but Luke throws a panicked, pleading look over his shoulder and she lingers back, unable to join him side by side.
Caleb stops in a moody circling of them. He rests his hands on his cane and leans back, observing them. Luke’s hand is still clutching her wrist. Beneath his cool fingers, her pulse is racing.
“You think you have a choice—!”
He leaps forward.
In an instant, Julie’s enveloped in strong arms. She catches sight of Caleb’s wild eyes just as the world twists into silver light, and then nothing. They’re standing. Luke’s breathing heavy into Julie’s head. She looks around.
They’re safe. For now, they’re safe.

➥ day 2 ✶ favorite song: STAND TALL
tell me why i assumed we already had a juke forehead touch moment in the hug scene????
actually scratch that don’t tell me i will: it’s cause that entire scene felt just as tender and emotional as a forehead touch when they stared into each others’ eyes and cradled each others’ faces thATS WHY
juke forehead touch 👍🏻
A conversation between me, @innytoes, @missjoolee, @floating-in-the-blue, and @jatp-spinsb about that grindr post that went around a while ago about needing a screwdriver and not a hookup has led to a Juke version of that prompt. (I didn't think there was one) I'm not sure what to call it.
It was a lazy Saturday morning and Julie was cooking herself some bacon and eggs scrolling through the dating app Flynn had talked her into installing last night after her third glass of wine.
When the talk had turned to how long it had been since she’d been laid her best friend had insisted this new app was the way to break her dry spell. It was marketed as a dating app but was more popular for being the hetero version of grinder. On the plus side the men couldn’t message the women till they messaged them first. It was sexist as hell but when it came to a possible hookup Julie appreciated it.
*slowly reaches for the popcorn*
imagining your otp doing the forehead touch is literally the most important thing in the whole world. everybody take a second and stop scrolling and imagine your otp doing the forehead touch. okay. you can move on now.
“Edge of Great” verison of one of Leyendecker’s illustrations (included under the cut). I’ve been meaning to try a redraw of one of his pieces for ages and couldn’t resist when I saw this one
