Okay I did most of this in the last few hours - started the actual inking during the last stream, actually! This ended up being kinda Diath’s nightmare from (I think episode 78? I’m bad at numbers, but you know the one) Waterdeep with wings cut off, kinda everything he’s faced in real life - the snow of the Ring of Winter, being hanged, and every interaction with Shemeshka ever. 

His wings are loosely based off of a Merlin falcon, because they’re cool.

I’ll be doing something with the whole crew and the eggo crew in the near future, hopefully!

Gabriel leaving... I'm sad but also not surprised. Also a bit angry. I really hoped you'd grown a bit, but fake-sacrifice plus porn stars plus torture does not a better person make. I mean, I'd want out if I just got rescued from endless torture. I'm actually pretty upset about it, to be honest - because I can't blame him, after all this. I would have hoped for maybe a calling card or something, more time in the bunker - well. You're free, at least there's that, I guess.

Cool leaving Ketch behind, but now they either have to grab some Luci grace or convince Gabe to come back. I'm guessing Charlie and Ketch will find Mary and Jack, and now I need Charlie and Jack to be bros.

Dean... god, Jensen with the angst (tm). So I'm assuming a Gabriel hunt coming up? Or something?

I'm still miffed at Gabe, as they retconned his sacrifice which made him so interesting. I'm peeved. But I'll allow it an have a headcanon that he's still keeping secrets and was probably actually dead for a bit with some other bad stories. He's always playing his own long cons so I wouldn't be surprised. Still, I gotta hand it to Speight for being awesome as per usual.

The Thing

Yes, well.  This episode.  The proportion of the two main plotlines was - well I would have reversed it, obviously.  

Spoilers from here on out for Supernatural 13x17!

Gabriel.   Oh. My. CHUCK. My baby! I will literally rip Asmodeus to shreds, don’t think I won’t ugh.  

This episode was literally a combination of a fetch quest/tentacle porn thing gone wrong and what I actually wanted, which was a rescue for Gabriel.  I really couldn’t care less about Ketch himself, or Asmodeus as a villain.  But Gabriel.  Did you see him cower? Because I saw my baby refusing to leave his cell, to convulse at the idea of getting more Grace taken, to hobble down the hall dragged by Ketch.  

No but now I wonder how deeply this is rooted, because he was terrified, and we have only seen him so scared once: when he actually died (well, sort of.  We still don’t know whether he actually died and was resurrected via archangel-y powers since it was a regular angel blade, or whether he just faked it and for some reason Lucifer believed it despite not wielding an archangel blade). I doubt Asmodeus has had him the entire time. But he’s had him for a long-ass time, and I’m not happy about that.  

BUT! You know what warms my cold, dead, heart?

The Sabriel(TM) moment of Sam taking care of his lips sewn shut, and Dean insisting that Sam be the one to take care of Gabe.  (I don’t like how Dean did it, because it was like a regression back to Season 5 when he moved past this idea that Sam being in any danger is not allowed and backed Sam up to jump in the pit) 

Also a side note - really, show writers?  Do you know how many fanfic writers have attempted tentacle things and came up with less crazy stunts than alternate universe Cthullu liking Dean’s face? Not that I’m sure it hasn’t been done; still.  The heck.  

All that aside, my baby is back and not in the hands of a demon, so hopefully his brother and Sam will take decent care of him . . .
