It's really telling when I see one person in my feed say "the season finale was perfect" and the very next calls it a joke. Just, wow.

Look. I liked it, but I can see why people wouldn't. Can we treat each other a little kindly while we're either disappointed or drained?

Yes, not having Cas or Jack present? A little disappointing. Bobby there? Amazing! The full circle "It's okay, you can go" between Dean, Sam, and Dean Jr? I liked it! Little callbacks to favorite moments? Pie? Cute!

Feeling disappointment over not addressing Cas's departure more directly? Oh definitely. But I like that there's room for that confrontation in heaven, after everything has been resolved and they can just...be.

Me bawling over Dean's dying moments but immediately yelling during the commercials about how out of the blue it felt? Yeah.

Their happy ending being their own fault, because they took care of Jack and helped him along to the point where he could and did fix Heaven? That's probably one of my favorite things about it.

"Lay your weary head to rest / don't you cry no more."

It's OK. We can go now.

  • Old Sam wow. Dean Jr. Taking care of him. I'm freaking out. "It's okay, you can go now" is a good full circle moment for them.
  • And now Dean meets Sam up in heaven - everyone's together because Jack changed Heaven because they raised him right and I'm having so many feelings okay
  • What a way to end. I'm glad it did end that way. Just Sam and Dean on the road, with the knowledge that everyone is there, waiting.

So I finally watched the Season 15 premier, and I gotta say, Alex Calvert won me over with another character.

So while I know SPN takes liberties with mythology and existing demon and angel characters, I definitely heard his name before, so I looked it up.

Now, the lack of eyes is really convenient, huh? If he's indeed a prince of hell, that's definitely going to be interesting. Also the background matches with some his lines during this scene:

But imagine Sam thinking about it. 

I shot God.  And sure, he’s pretty desensitized to powerful beings telling him what to do, but. Like - say he’s facing a younger version of himself, saying this.

The “boy with the demon blood” or any young Sam would be appalled and afraid. He’d believed in angels before he met them, and would never have thought it possible. He’d be terrified of this monster, this lunatic, he’d become. 

Various older versions? Might sympathize a bit. God screwed them over. But he still blames himself for things so much, that he’d likely find a twist and see this as more insanity. 

But this Sam has a kid he’s looking out for. He was already taking care of so many people that he lost to this fight. If it’s Jack or Chuck?

The choice was obvious. 

And that, my friends, is why I love Sam - he’s grown so much, from the victim to the leader, from the angsty younger brother to the protective father. And he knows what Chuck is willing to do to his son, and doesn’t want any part of that for Jack, in the end. 

I have feelings about this, clearly. I’m going to go in a corner and plot potential s15 fic with Jack and Billie raising an army of dead angels against the apocalypse.

Jack taking notes is hilarious. Omg those two are the best investigative team. The small town gossip ugh what a cute montage.

You lovely little hero and Dean using a weird creep factor I really don’t know whether he was attempting to be a sleazeball with Jack planning that or whether that was improv and honestly I’m okay with either

Miles is a creep but he’ll probably end up being a victim too tbh - *dies on screen* aaaaand called it.  

I’m trying to read all of the books says Charlie, and I am the same. “As long as there’s good WiFi” yup.

the coughing was way pre-1945 tuberculosis kind of vibes and I was not having it then and the blood on the hand in the way it was was giving me stigmata vibes and NO Jack doesn’t get to die I just know the writers would make it permanent

Overall, not a bad episode for feeling kind of (very) filler/case-related. Emotional talks that worked well.  I wouldn’t watch it on its own for the heck of it like I would some episodes (Changing Channels, looking at you) but not one I’d necessarily skip through altogether. Harper was way too sweet not to either get killed or be evil, so yeah, a bit obvious, but her flirting with Jack was just . . . wow. His attempt at being undercover was cute and awkward. 

The Sam and Charlie thing felt a bit forced for some reason? but I’ll hand it to both of them, excellent points were made on either side, and Sam’s hopefulness shining through was awesome. They would be the intellectual friends that debate seriously about humanity with Charlie as a cynic and Sam as someone who believes in people ultimately. I don’t know what to do with their actual case - it could just as easily have been a werewolf thing as a weird bug thing imo; they didn’t need new monsters for this. *shrug*
