i’m just imagining a teenage goro interacting with adachi and how that would play out- got any ideas?

Teenage Akechi under Adachi’s tutelage is a NIGHTMARE.

I typically try to be as canon compliant as I can lol and so, if we’re considering the events of Persona 4 and the dates/timelines, Akechi living with Adachi as a teenager would have to take place after the Bad/Accomplice Endings.

(Unless, in the Good/Golden ending, Akechi lives with Dojima until Adachi is released again. In which, Akechi would probably hang out at Dojima’s more often and would just. hate his uncle and become the ultimate goody two-shoes with a dark underside.)

So with all that in mind, Adachi raises Akechi to be a successful agent of chaos. He encourages Akechi to make friends and relax with his schoolwork, basically living the life Adachi feels he should’ve had. This gets a lot of pushback from Akechi because Adachi had been pretty lax up to this point. Adachi also tacitly encourages Akechi to do whatever the fuck he wants because Adachi will get him out of trouble every time.

Eventually, in Foggy Inaba, Adachi makes Akechi confront his Shadow and trains him to utilize the power of Persona as self-defense and retaliation. Akechi ends up using it to torment people that piss him off, which scares off what few friends he does make at Yasogami.

Compared to the P4 protags, Akechi has a really bad reaction to his Shadow self and never really forgives Adachi for making him go through that. He hates the Metaverse and sees it as a necessary evil.

As a kid, Akechi’s more shy, mild-mannered, and relatively easy to manage, but because of Adachi’s lax parenting, he grows up to be hard to control, so they butt heads pretty often, especially when Akechi commits crimes that are really hard to sweep under the rug (like managing to steal three HD TVs out of the Junes Electronics Department).

And after years of Adachi constantly being gone for long periods of time because of his job, Akechi starts to get resentful of his absence and starts largely ignoring him. Their relationship pretty much becomes extremely strained and testy.

At this point, Akechi relies heavily on Nanako for company, since they’re in the same boat with their parental figures constantly gone and having some underlying resentment because of it. Their sibling bond is like Flex-Seal tight.

A really dark road to go down would be Akechi’s first mental shutdown case actually being Adachi… but I’ll refrain from exploring that.

(for now.)
