I don’t think Dani or Malcolm realized how much they had wanted to kiss until they actually did it, then afterwards they were both like “holy shit” because neither of them had thought of it as a possibility and there’s so many factors to consider in their relationship (mental health, they’re friends, and they work together), then on top of that there’s no time to think about it or talk it out right now because of all of this kidnapping business

Okay, I might get some heat for this but... while Dani’s wording about Gerald possibly being an unreliable witness wasn’t great, I don't think her intentions were to be insulting.

Think about it, she's a cop trying to solve a murder and for this one, they need to use witnesses to get it done, they need as she said "a bulletproof case". Even though Malcolm did correct her about, her thinking wasn't off because if they only get one chance to get the killer, they do need a bulletproof case. Her job is to look at the big picture and the grand scheme of things while Malcolm’s job is to look super in depth at the details. Also notice how she didn’t fight him when he said that Gerald's agoraphobia could make him the best witness they have.

Her phrasing was just off and I doubt anybody can say that something they've said hasn't come across the wrong way once or twice.

I think that was the intention too! I think (((for once))) the writers knew what would be in character for both her and Malcolm to say and do. Dani is very by-the-book and I think that small bicker was used to show the difference between the two of them in regards to how they see these cases. Bright looks at them on a more personal level, whereas Dani has to go for the facts. It’s the same reason she had to arrest him last season for Eddie’s murder. She didn’t necessarily believe it was him, but she puts her job first, and that means exploring obvious angles first before gut feeling

Yes, I will say some of her comments were somewhat infuriating, and that’s coming from a slight agoraphobic person ((hi it’s getting worse pls help)). But it goes to show some of her flaw as and further draws the line where trust with Malcolm is sometimes a strain

Everyone is entitled to their opinions! If you’re anti-Dani, I may disagree with you but that’s okay 😌

I just... don’t understand why there’s no focus on Malcolm and Gil’s relationship in s2, no focus on the team, no focus on character development for Dani and JT? That stuff is so important, why did they completely disregard it? 😔

Honestly, though I did enjoy this episode a lot, I completely agree! They keep trying to push forward new and interesting plotlines without realizing that what we want is the intimacy of our favorite characters and their relationships being explored. That DOES NOT mean Martin getting laid, that doesn’t just mean teasing Brightwell, it means developing those bonds and holding onto them

I’m glad the episode was centered around Edrisa, it felt like we got some depth and understanding for once, even more so than the episode last season around her. We got to see her interact with other people who don’t find her comments weird, we got to see her thrive

We need more of that with everyone in this show. JT hasn’t gotten ANYTHING this season, unless you count the racial injustice plot which fell kind of flat and didn’t tackle the issue very substantially despite being teased it would
