⛧ 𝕹𝖔𝖈𝖙𝖚𝖗𝖓𝖆𝖑 𝕷𝖚𝖓𝖊 ⛧

Now that I think about it, one of my favourite things from Lucifer (the TV series), amongst other things, is how most of the canon relationships didn't end in marriage, and the characters are still on good terms with each other even when their romantic and/or sexual relationship ended—and they're even happier for that!

The main ship, Deckerstar? Not married. Long-distance relationship for the most part AND STILL love each other very much the whole time

Linda and Amenadiel?? Ex-lovers. Never been married yet were STILL supporting each other while co-parenting their son together

Dan and Chloe? Separated since the beginning. Divorced early on. Built a happier and healthier relationship post-divorce and still did amazing job co-parenting their daughter

Dan and Charlotte is a tragic one but the tragedy is not that they weren't married but instead they didn't get much time together though they were still very much in love

Lucifer and Eve? Still good friends post-breakup. Happier and healthier than ever even.

Ella and Carol? Healthiest thing in each other's life and very much in love but aren't married either

Lucifer and Candy? Divorced after like couple weeks. Never been in love but still good friends for each other

Linda and Lucifer? Built a stronger, more meaningful friendship after they stopped having sexual relationship

Of course we have our kick-ass bounty hunter Queens; Maze and Eve, the only couple who actually got married, which is important not only because the much-needed wlw rep but also because it's their respective personal journeys to choose the life they want for themselves. Their marriage is their choice; they're doing it because they both want to—not because everyone else is doing it.

Just—I love it when stories explore such 'atypical' relationships. That happy endings don't have to be a marriage and a nuclear family. That the end of a relationship doesn't mean it can't turn into something else; something more beautiful and fulfilling, even. And I wish more stories would explore that.
