that awkward moment where your only qualms about Samuel’s character being a conservative Christian was that you thought Ryan Murphy forgot Quinn used to wear a cross necklace with her Cheerios uniform, but then this
Now I feel like that when it finally got out that Kurt was gay (no one was surprised, really, but as it was slowly confirmed that yes, he does indeed like boys, they realized that he was terrified and were polite enough not to make a big deal about it), Quinn was conflicted. Because she liked Kurt, she really did. He was sweet and funny and polite and was always very considerate of her condition. But he’s gay. And she’s a Christian, and Christians aren’t supposed to be okay with gay people, right?
So she sits down with her Bible (two versions, thank you- New International Version and the Message) and an online concordance, and starts exploring the nuances of the religion she was born into but never delved into past “don’t have sex” and “Jesus loves me.”
And she starts finding all of these things that she never really thought about (because really, who reads Leviticus or Haggai or Jude anyways) and it’s fascinating, and she reads more in one night than she read in sixteen years’ worth of Sunday school.
And she doesn’t emerge with all the answers, but she knows more than she used to, and she knows one thing for sure- if we are neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, but we are all one in Christ Jesus, then damn straight it doesn’t matter if you’re straight nor gay either.
And then next day she marches into the choir room and gives Kurt a great big hug that leaves him startled and pleasantly surprised, but she never explains why.
