One thing Derek hated as a child and now misses as an adult was when his mom used to blow raspberries on his tummy until he was crying from laughter.
He misses it because only his mom knew that one hidden tickle spot on the right side of his stomach—the one that made him spasm with giggles if given just the precise amount of pressure. Only his mom could hold him down and smile at the way his cheeks flushed as he tried to frown his way out of cuddling. Only his mom could pull off ‘this little piggy’ on a cranky fourteen year old and somehow still get him to smile.
There’s a lot of things that only his mom could do. She took all of them to the grave with her.
