“Let me guess, you’re going as silver fox Tommy Shelby for Halloween this year?” she teased, cradling the phone in the crook of her neck as she fiddled with the coffee machine. His chuckle drifted down the line but she could hear the weariness behind it.

Thank you everyone for bearing with me on the delay in writing this. It’s been a difficult few weeks but it was nice to have the energy this last few days to finally finish this off. It’s a long one (lol, remember when this was supposed to just be ‘little fragments’ along a week or so? Not so much anymore 🙈). Summary: Finally back in Dublin, Cillian can’t help himself but have a word with Aoife about what she said to Mrs M. But when Finn overhears, things escalate.

He could hear the doorbell tinkling inside the house as he huddled deeper into his coat, clutching the small backpack that Finn had left behind the previous weekend. Fuck, as much as he never ever wanted to live in LA, he had to admit he’d happily take their weather. No freezing your bollocks off or endless horizontal rain in February. A shadowy figure loomed through the frosted glass and finally the door opened, light spilling out over the threshold. He held up the bag.

“Delivery for Child Two.”

Alex, this was such a beautiful surprise for a very strange Monday!

I spent the day in meetings with professors to set up all the final exams, and I got your notification about a new chapter in the middle of a very boring, yet important, meeting. I don't know how I resisted reading it right then and there, just ignoring all my boring colleagues to immerse myself in your story.

I think I deserve a medal for my self-control and commitment to the education of my dunderheads.

The first light of dawn gently illuminated Cillian's eyes, rousing him from sleep. Reluctant to open them fully, he savoured the comforting sensation of that fleeting moment between slumber and wakefulness. Gradually, he became aware of the sensations enveloping him. He was laying on his side, with a warm body pressed against his chest, nestled between him and the couch's backrest. His face was buried in soft hair that carried the scent of sea and spices. As it got chiller, he shivered and walked into the small convinience store to get a bottle of water, strolling through the aisles, he found a stuffed duck and immediately thought of Scout, he loved ducks. As he walked past some people, he was aware of the glances and deep down he knew the reason.

Quick note for those who maybe haven’t read the main series - I think it’s already obvious here, but in case not, let me be clear: Cill and Mrs M started their relationship when he was still married to Aoife. Does this mean I think cheating is cool? No of course not. But is it a plot device for drama in this fictional world? Fuck yes. You can have thoughts and feelings about the characters but I do not want anyone rocking up in my comments complaining about the affair - you don’t like cheating stories? Don’t read. It really is that simple.

Summary: After her fizz-fuelled heart to heart with Emily, will Mrs M talk to Cillian about what happened with Aoife? And if she does, how will he react..?

Y/N was grateful they’d had the foresight to order room service and not try and make it downstairs to the dining room for breakfast that morning. Washing her face whilst she heard Cillian directing where the staff should leave things, she looked at herself in the mirror, thinking Cassie was going to have her work cut out for her today covering her eyebags. Jet lag, plus far too many glasses of fizz the night before (Emily’s fault, she felt), were ganging up to kick her arse.

Part 5 - The Sea Song

On a Thursday afternoon, Cillian lay sprawled on his parents' sofa, pondering his life choices and nursing a considerable hangover from the previous day. Did he really need to down all those pints, he wondered. His body certainly seemed to indicate that his 20s had ended a couple of years ago, with the pounding in his head serving as a harsh reminder.

It took me a looooot of time to finally be able to read it, but I'm glad I did it with time on my favour because it was beautiful!!
