Ahhh for the SECOND time, my camera lens has been fixed, meaning I took this photo as soon as possible bc I wanna show off my collection of @aliceoseman 's books in full glory! 📚 I received This Winter, completing the collection and they look SO GREAT together! Thanks to my love @toberesande for getting me the books in all the matching editions ♥️ 📚 Also, my country sucks because no one thinks the rules apply to them and thus we end up in a second half-lockdown. Can people just listen and not go out partying and ignore the rules please? How'd I ever end up here, with someone who not only cares so much about what I like and actually listens to my rambles about everything and remembers it when ordering a book I talked about once weeks before (Radio Silence), but also makes sure to order the right edition of a book for me because he knows I like my books matching ♥️ 📚 In other words, my lovely partner got me the new Oseman book, Nick and Charlie! And honestly, I hadn't even talked about it yet, he told me he'd seen it on Instagram and just went ahead and got it for me🥰 I'll probably read it when my CR (Our Dark Duet) is finished but maybe I'll even read it tomorrow when I get a bit of free time, who knows? 📚 #QOTD what book are you looking forward to pick up next? 📚 #book #books #booklove #booklover #reader #bookstack #bookshelf #bookshelves #bookstagram #bookphotography #ya #youngadultbooks #yabooks #youngadult #ireadya #nickandcharlie #aliceoseman #solitaire #radiosilence #iwasbornforthis #loveless #heartstopper https://www.instagram.com/p/CFF6sndAO1S/?igshid=9h0kjkpo79n2
Book review: Solitaire
Heya! After the ARC reviews, it’s time for one of my favorite series of 2018! My lovely boyfriend gifted me Solitaire and Radio Silence since I was talking about it in the bookstore, because I couldn’t find it in the store. I started Solitaire almost right away and I loved it a lot 🙂
Trigger warning: self harm (in the book, not in the review)
Title: Solitaire (Solitaire #1)

Reasons I love Alice Oseman’s books!
So if you aren’t familiar, Alice Oseman is an incredible UK based author of mainly contemporary YA books that do so much but simply they knock your socks off.
I found Alice through her webcomic Heartstopper (which you should definitely checkout)
But I only read her books early this year, and omg little did I know that I was in for a whole new look at YA, that left me with mixed feelings about characters and having so so so many questions. So here’s a list of why I love her content so much!
- There’s a range of different characters that don’t necessarily fit into an archetype which leaves you with so many questions and doesn’t make the story as predictable as it would be
- THE DIVERSITY omg Alice effortlessly but intentionally makes books for everyone and anyone, whoever you are you will see yourself in her art.
- The storyline will keep you on your feet, always. I had no idea where Solitaire was going at any point in time there’s always really clever plot twists and surprises.
- Such original ideas omg, they draw on concepts we can all relate to and yet the story itself will always surprise you
- She’s so connected to her content and audience and you can see how much effort and care she puts into the art that she puts out which causes you to appreciate it even more
- BEAUTIFUL ART I don’t need to say more trust me
- Also she has such an intimate style of writing which I really enjoy; made me feel so close to the characters
It’s just addictive okay I love it,,,, feel free to add more reasons you love the osemanverse
8. Her characters are really relatable because they’re not perfect. All the characters have something that feels like home (to me). It makes them feel more real.
9. Supportive parents. That’s a thing I don’t see often in books. and these books have supportive parents. They have worried parents, but that’s what parents are. They care for their children. I love it.
