Thank you so much! I'll see what I can tell you. I went to school for character design / concept art. But I never actually got a job in that. My jobs became animation and comic books. If you want to do character design as a career. You need to pick a side, either games or TV/Animation. The styles and requirements for each is vastly different. You have to draw in a lot of styles overall, learn shape design, and be really good at drawing the human form. No matter the style (personally) the biggest tip is silhouette. Any character of mine has to have a distinctive silhouette, otherwise it's boring.
As for the last thing, I have no idea! 10 years of doing this and its a mystery. People don't care about your oc work, that's just a fact. So you have to GRIND ALOT to see any sort of return. It takes a very long time, you have to be consistent and lucky. Good luck!
