Ink and Blood Characters - Part I

I already had a lengthy article on Wordpress about this, but right now for laziness reasons I'm mostly using Tumblr so I'll slowly move and update the unnecessarily long explanations to this blog.

Part I: Main Characters - Cedric and Orube

Ink and Blood is first and foremost about them, as it was born as a fix-it for their tragedy. However, over time the series developed into a story that is much more about Cedric and his life and background, rather than Orube – she is rather the light at the end of a very painful tunnel he goes through.

The stories that focus on their relationship the most are:

They appear together and have important roles and chapters all dedicated to them also in Ink and Blood 2–3. They also appear in later chapters of “The Maiden”, seen through Naexi’s eyes, and their relationship will go through a hard time in “Thorns and Bonds” (if I manage to finish writing that one...)

Stories that tell something about Cedric's background history before and during Arc 1:

i just remembered that when i was in high school decades ago (sob) i used to write comedy stories and draw little comics with my friends.

they were basically silly adventures of ourselves in our school - rpf, if you like - and since it was a humanities-oriented high school*, many things happening in there were classic literature citations. like, in these stories there was a sign at the entrance of the school saying lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch’intrate (abandon all hopes you who enter), and when we finally won our adventures we would say e uscimmo a riveder le stelle (and we went outside to see the stars again).

of course dante was one of our villains and i believe once we had to face manzoni’s thugs (the bravi) and use leopardi’s zibaldone as a very threatening weapon

*in italy, high schools are not all the same and they are oriented towards a certain field, in this case classical studies/humanities and we did a lot of latin and italian literature with no less than three years of two hours of only dante every week… no wonder i became a chemist in the end

the fact that my tatted doily is having so much more traction than my average fanfiction post is trying to tell me something but i’ll try not to listen

this is completely off-topic but maybe not so much since it’s the reason why i haven’t written a single word of my fic in weeks:

however, it must be said that one can really see the point when they severely cut the budget on the wigs in once upon a time

Naexi was panting when she opened the doors of the Prince’s quarters. He had called her. And he sounded as if he was weak and suffering. She had run up the stairs and through the halls until her lungs burned, but now she was there and she could help.

In the entry hall, she found three Murmurers looking at her with their heads cocked, studying her with curiosity. They did not look alarmed. Did they even know that the Prince needed help?

“Your Highness…” she called, and went to see the dining room, the parlor, the study, and finally entered the bedroom.

She let out a gasping cry at the spectacle in front of her.

“Who did this to you…” she murmured, her hands covering her mouth.

The person who sat on the floor, his back against the side of the bed, surrounded by colorful Murmurers, was barely recognizable as Prince Phobos.
