the thing about simon snow that has me eating walls is that: he IS the chosen one. He always has been, he always will be. He is the boy who was brought about to defeat the greatest threat to Mages, and that threat was Davy Cadwallader.
He’s not a false prophet. He’s not a glitch in the system. He’s the real, honest to God, chosen one.
But the prophecy was fulfilled in such a way it will never appear that way to those without the meta knowledge. Without knowing Davy’s and Simon’s sides of the story, we never would have known this. Had Lucy not desperately told us her tale in Carry On, we too would never know the great threat Davy posed to the world.
Simon Snow is the boy in the prophecy, but to properly complete the prophecy he needed to denounce it, lest he repeat Davy’s mistakes in pursuit of ‘fulfilling it.’
