vengeance is waiting
This is a drawing of two imaginings of Inej in the fandom. The desi one is on the right, and it is the more popular of course. The left one is the Romani one, which is less shown in fandom but seems more fitting in the universe to me.

Kaz’s first kiss, expectation vs. reality!
Friendly reminder that due to a technicality, Nina was, in fact Kaz’s first kiss, and Matthias witnessed the whole scene.

As she makes her way down the gangplank, always the last to disembark, she spots a dockworker sitting on top of a stack of boxes near the end of the dock near berth twenty-two, ostensibly on a break. She finds a smile spreading across her face as she makes her way toward him.
“Evening, Captain,” he says, as she approaches, not looking up from the apple he’s been peeling, clearly pilfered from the crate at his feet. His flat cap casts his face in shadow, but she can see the hitch of one of his cheeks that indicates a lopsided grin forming.
She comes to a stop directly in front of him. “Evening, Dirtyhands,” she says, clasping her hands behind her back to keep from reaching for him.
“Hey, now,” he says, playful admonishment in his tone as his dark eyes flick up toward her from beneath the brim of his cap. “I’m incognito.”
He slides a slice of apple off the end of his knife in between his teeth, and she tries not to stare too obviously at his mouth. She must not do a very good job, because his grin becomes a smirk. He abandons the knife and the apple beside him on the crate and stands up, taking a step forward into her space, mirroring her position and clasping his own hands behind his back. “Are you amenable to being kissed, Captain?” he asks, his voice low in the space between them.
“Quite amenable, yes,” she says, tilting her chin up and leaning in just the slightest bit.

WTF he is adorable while laughing! I love this!!!! And all the expressions! Amazing work.
I know nobody is allowed to control what another person thinks, yet whenever I hear someone say that they don't like Kaz Brekker, my heart actually stings.
I get in the beginning he was a bit of an ass, but he changed. And by the time we got near the end of CK he was going through it. When the Crows were at that point when they failed the plan and everything went wrong and now they're in this hotel suite injured and broken with the entire world hunting them down, Kaz gave up everything. He sold all the assets he's been collecting and building since he was nine in exchange for Inej's full freedom without giving it so much as a second thought. He then used his previous family name and old home as tools for the plan. He used to be the guy who told even his crew vague details of the plan but now? He told them all of it. He gave them all time to rest and recharge before the auction while he dragged himself all the way to the slat with a leg radiating pain to recruit more people for the job. At his lowest state with limited resources, he still gave up every one of them to ensure his Crows would make it out alive this time. He was out their fighting beside them and putting his own body on the frontlines, ready to die if it means they get to live. He even distant himself from Inej and Jesper and the others, making them angry enough that if he were to die, they wouldn't grieve him too long. Going by personal experience, Kaz knows what grief does to a person, he knows it could destroy a person. And it destroyed him but he doesn't want it to destroy his family. So he makes them mad enough to prevent just that.
It was when I read CK that I understood what being a true leader is like. It isn't just about guiding your crew and directing them, but it's also about valuing their lives over your own. At this point, Kaz proved to the readers how brave and selfless he truly is. He proves to us how much he loves his crew and how far he's willing to go for them.
And yet... There are still people who don't like him and it makes my heart shatter 😭😭😭

Here's some height accurate comparison for the Crows :D
I didn't see Leigh llist any out for Wylan but I found the fandom presentation where Wylan is around 5'9 or smt
we as a fandom need to recognize more that kaz brekker literally benefits from ketterdam’s version of pretty privelege
the girls at the menagerie want to take him to bed
multiple of the dregs (canonically jesper, inej, and anika) have a crush on him at some point
imogen was totally into him even at 14
the most terrifying man in ketterdam and he’s looking good while doing it! put some respect on my man’s name
THIS QUOTE…I CAN’T
“I would have come for you. And if I couldn't walk, I'd crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we'd fight our way out together-knives drawn, pistols blazing.”

One thing i love about Kaz Brekker is the fact that his trauma isn't glorified- he isn't a broody bad boy for the sake of the trope. This came into my mind when i read that scene of Inej and Kaz in the bathroom and Kaz thinks about how jealous and lonely he felt watching Jesper and Nina and Inej all touch each other while he had to stand so far apart. Imagine how detatched you'd feel? That really pulled at my heartstrings cl because i feel like platonic touch doesn't get discussed enough and its so important for mental health and connection. Anyway im tired this is all i have to say
