Presenting my piece for the Carry On Art Remix!

I chose to remix this lovely and heartbreaking piece of a young Simon being comforted by Lucy's ghost by @yellobb. The caption for the original was (ironically) about not thinking about Simon growing up in care without the love he deserved. I really wanted to take those instructions literally, so I remixed the concept into an AU where he didn't because Lucy never left him.

Here's Simon, age 3, with his mama, hanging out in his grandmother's garden on a lovely summer's day. GETTING THE LOVE HE DESERVES.

Just a vegan vampire and his disfigured wizard

“Baz, look!” Simon sits backwards on the chair next to where I’ve knelt to lie my laces. “I’m taller than you.”

I lean back, using his knee to brace me. “Yes, darling,” I coo, “you’re ever so much taller.” I raise one eyebrow to heighten my sarcasm, then catch his eye to see if it’s landed.

Instead I catch the brief, unguarded look of affection Simon beams down on me. I bite my lip with two extra teeth; my fangs always drop when the rhythm of my heart changes to beat a soft Simon, Simon.

“I’m about to stand,” I warn him, my words turning sharp to offset the softness that face, his heart-eyed face, elicits, “brace yourself for the inevitable disappointment of being inferior to me once more.”

“Noted.” He rolls his eyes, gets up, and sends a hand down to bring me to his level.

Or not his level, I smirk when I’m once again three inches above him.

My eyebrow remains where it is as I tilt my chin down, pointedly. I wait for his huff, his pout, his whine.

Instead he flaps his wings until he’s hovering just at my eye level. My face lifts to follow.

Simon waggles his eyebrows. “You were saying?”

I’m a day late (shocker), but the happiest of birthdays to Simon Snow ❤️❤️❤️ The most heartfelt of thank you’s to @rainbowrowell for creating this disaster of a man. He’s been my comfort character since I was 15, and he’s genuinely gotten me through my darkest days. The community I’ve found since joining this fandom has been unparalleled, and I honestly can’t imagine what my life would be like without it

Can’t stop thinking about how this is Simon’s love language in a nutshell.

I commissioned Raven to draw me Baz carrying Simon, ‘cause, and I paraphrase a little here: “WHAT’S THE POINT OF VAMPIRE STRENGTH IF YOU DON’T CARRY YOUR BOYFRIEND?????“”

I stand by that 100%
