—dear poets, it’s time to rewrite icarus.
I had to watch this scene a bunch of times to work out posing and expressions—and it still gets to me!!!
Frank receiving hugs
#these 4 hugs show us something very important about Frank Castle: that he really only allows himself to relax around one person- because #although he has several people in his life who he cares for- Karen’s the only one who knows his whole truth; she not only recognizes his #pain and is able to (sadly) relate to it- but she accepts that The Punisher is a part of him now- though he considers Billy to be a brother- he #stiffens in his embrace and pats him roughly on the back because this friend is an echo of his past- someone who knew his wife and kids and #is a living reminder of the life he used to have; with David’s hug he’s more annoyed and amused than anything- he pats his drunken friend on #the back and isn’t comfortable with his touch because a part of him is trying to push the idea of caring for anyone else away- with his #tragic track record it just wouldn’t be wise for him to grow emotionally attached to another (especially a man whose family life reminds him of what #he lost and once had)- with Sarah; Frank’s posture is extremely stiff and awkward- and yet he gently rubs her shoulders anyway because he #can relate to her suffering- to her desire to feel something good again- to feel that connection that only a loved one can bring; and so # the only thing he can do is lend her some comfort (albeit very awkwardly) to show her that he understands what she’s going #through; the way that Frank allows himself to sink into the warmth of Karen’s tight embrace and wraps both arms around her really shows just #how much comfort her touch and presence bring him- here they are finally seeing each other again after months and months of no contact; and #one of the first things they do is reach out for one another and non-verbally reassure one another that they’re here for each other; and #Frank is reminded once again that if there’s one person he can truly count on to help make him forget his demons for a while it’s Karen Page #because he hasn’t felt like he has belonged anywhere for a really long time- but when he’s around her it actually feels like H O M E (@frank-kastle)
Dyscalculia is a learning disability, a lot like dyslexia, but with math and numbers. Everyone knows what dyslexia is, but for some reason, dyscalculia isn’t as well known. I want people to know about this so no more kids are gonna believe uneducated adults who tells them that they’re just lazy and no more kids are going to think they’re just hopeless idiots when they try and try but just can’t understand. It happened to me, and I won’t let it happen to anyone else.
It’s surprisingly common and is often linked to ADHD. If you’ve ever had issues, look it up - you might find things fall into place for you, too.
- Difficulty reading analog clocks[14]
- Inability to comprehend financial planning or budgeting, sometimes even at a basic level; for example, estimating the cost of the items in a shopping basket or balancing a checkbook.
- Inconsistent results in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Difficulty with multiplication, subtraction, addition, and division tables, mental arithmetic, etc.
- Problems with differentiating between left and right.
- A “warped” sense of spatial awareness, or an understanding of shapes, distance, or volume that seems more like guesswork than actual comprehension.
- Difficulty with time, directions, recalling schedules, sequences of events. Difficulty keeping track of time. Frequently late or early.
- Poor memory (retention & retrieval) of math concepts; may be able to perform math operations one day, but draw a blank the next. May be able to do book work but then fails tests.
- Difficulty reading musical notation. Difficulty with choreographed dance steps.
- Having particular difficulty mentally estimating the measurement of an object or distance (e.g., whether something is 3 or 6 meters (10 or 20 feet) away).
- When writing, reading and recalling numbers, mistakes may occur in the areas such as: number additions, substitutions, transpositions, omissions, and reversals.
- Inability to grasp and remember mathematical concepts, rules, formulae, and sequences.
- Inability to concentrate on mentally intensive tasks.
I can’t even comprehend what it might be like being a human who doesn’t have all of these characteristics. I don’t know how a brain can possibly just “remember” how to do long division or know what ten feet looks like.
I can’t even accept that a car is more than like nine feet long. Ours is fifteen feet long, and even standing next to it, my brain is POSITIVE it’s small enough to fit in a bathroom.
This is the most me thing I’ve ever read on this site. I can’t read analog clocks I can’t recall number sequences etc.
WELL THEN
I have this! It wasn’t really a “thing” when I was growing up, so I was just inexplicably “bad at math” and had “poor spatial skilled,”’etc. Sometimes I wonder what I could have accomplished if this had been a more well-known disorder.

I was shy and a hard worker, so acting was a way to focus whatever nervous energy I was experiencing onto a goal.

“Chivalry boils down to three things: mercy, charity, and humility. Mercy means being conscious of your advantages, and treating other humans gently. Charity means giving without expecting anything in return. Humility means accepting your mistakes, and recognizing that those who don’t have your advantages aren’t your inferiors.“

Colorado Lunch Lady Fired for Giving Kids Free Meals Says She’d Do It Again http://ift.tt/1JoLWZu
from the article:
…“I would have kids start crying when I told them they didn’t have money in their account because they were terrified of getting the cheese sandwich.”
The district’s policy is to give a student a hot meal and charge the parent’s account the first three times they forget lunch money, communications director Tustin Amole told ABC News today. The fourth time, the student is given a cheese sandwich – a single slice of cheese on a hamburger bun – and a milk.
…Curry felt she could not stand by and keep letting it happen.
“It’s not nutrition. It’s not healthy,” she said. “It’s wrong on so many levels, and I hated to see food go to waste. I hated to see food thrown away that could’ve been given to these children that are hungry.”
Curry was supposed to take the students’ food, throw it away and replace it with the cheese sandwich and milk if a student had exceeded the $7.60 debt limit, she said. Instead, she would cancel the transaction and remind the student to bring their lunch money.
Curry acknowledged that her actions went against the district’s policy and when asked why she did it, Curry said, “Because it was the right thing to do and sometimes doing what is right is not what is easy.”
once again, under capitalism, noncompliance with immoral rules means the employee loses her livelihood. and less children have food.

It is not love, nor bloodlust that drives her to the surface, adorned in silver. She herself is a master of disguise and of self preservation; vain beyond belief and determined in every way to keep her youth lest her brothers claim it as their own. Be wary. She may be closer than you think.
In December, while visiting a shooting range in Medley, Florida, National Guard Sgt. Valerie Deant came to a horrifying realization: Members of the North Miami Beach police force, who had just left the facility, had been using mugshots of young black men for target practice.
In response, these clergy members created #usemeinstead
