she/her, 27, from germany, multifandom blog but mostly supernatural and whatever my latest obsesson is. I could literally not decide between fandoms for my URL so I chose something generic and kept it. always happy to chat :) I also write fanfiction that you can find here on AO3.

the most disappointing thing about the Loki show is that they really had something good. this really could have been something! just imagine an episodic show in which Loki joins the TVA as an agent who slowly learns the ropes. we get a new story every episode where they repair a branch in the timeline, a bit like Doctor Who.

slowly, he starts to gain the trust of his coworkers untll on one mission something happens and Loki starts to question the methods. this introduces the mystery of Silvie, making her the mysterious antagonist of season one who pops in now and again until it is revealed in a dramatic scene who she is. first season ends with them capturing her. then they get her backstory and season 1 ends with Loki freeing himself (Silvie) cause he’d rather trust himself than anyone he has met at the TVA so far.

there would have been lots of room for fun and games and introspective character moments with some real, developing friendships but mostly Loki being clever and funny, outsmarting other variants who try to get away.

instead what we got was a bloated storyline that makes less and less sense the more you think about it and a story in which Loki got shoved to the side again, his powers and smarts being downplayed again just because the writers weren’t smart enough to make him the cunning and a sometimes evil antihero that he was set up as in Ragnarok. (I liked when he figured out the mystery in the beginning of hiding in apocalypses and his line about loving being right. that part was fun. it should have been that for the whole show!)

poor Tom. he really gave his all and you can tell. if only the people in charge actually cared. but, hey, this wasn’t our Loki anyway. our Loki was killed by lazy writing. how fitting that this version is being shoved down the same path.

this will not taint my love for Loki in any way. I’m just sad because of the wasted potential.

After watching Endgame, I got the feeling that this will be the last Marvel movie that I will have seen in the cinema. It felt like closing a book and laying it down and I don’t know if I want to pick up volume two.

As a huge Loki fan, I am disappointed but also relieved in a way. They gave us enough material for speculation while at the same time ending his story in the canon timeline. I read in another post that someone said, they were giving him back to us fans and I find that comforting in a way.

They never anticipated his success and they never knew what to do with him. Now his canon story is over and he is ours to do with as we please, to use in fanfiction and art. Never again will he be mistreated by the writers, be the butt of the joke, his powers and importance downplayed. His story is over and with that also my desire to watch more of these movies.

It has been great eleven years! Thank you Marvel and good bye!

in light of the Loki show starting tomorrow, I’m reblogging this post I made in 2019.

it’s nice to see everyone so excited about it but I honestly have very mixed feelings. True to my post, I haven’t seen any MARVEL movies in theatre since endgame (which, okay, it wasn’t entirely my descision) but I doubt I would have if things had been different. I watched Spiderman far from home because I felt it was kind of an epilogue to endgame and that took me two sittings where I maybe skiped a part in the middle but was not interested enough to go back. also, I haven’t seen any of the shows.

it’s really strange how something I lived and burned for leaves me so cold these days. and sadly, I have to say, it’s the same with the new Loki show. because, despite what everyone is saying, this is not Loki, at least not to me. my Loki died in the stupidest way possible that was nothing more than an insult to the character and if they don’t bring him back, I don’t much care for the other version. maybe I am wrong, maybe the show will excite me again but it will be a long time until I watch it.

also, the promotion does not look that promising to me. I love Tom Hiddleston but did they really have to make him work out that much? isn’t Loki the epitome of cunning and clever despite his relative physical weakness compared to Thor? in my opinion he should be lean and not so muscular. but, hey, maybe that is just me.

all in all, this new material I see seems to somehow sadden me istead of getting me excited because the thing I loved is gone and it seems like all hope of getting it back is lost. maybe the alternate timeline Loki will find a way to save our Loki from his death. it would be a welcome surprise!

anyway, I hope everyone who is excited for the new show is really enjoying it and I hope, Tom is having equally as much fun in the role. I will be follong the show through fandom and if I see something I like, maybe I’ll start watching. right now, all it does is remind me of the loss of something great...
