here i thought having a week off work would be a brain reset but im bored and lonely as hell
I am really ashamed to have to resort to this but it is my last resort, I am currently unemployed and it was something that came out of the blue, I was not expecting to be suddenly fired from my job and I have been struggling a lot to be able to get ahead with the payments that I have to make for my school and dental treatment,I used my savings to pay off some outstanding debts, but currently I only have what is necessary to cover my share of household expenses. my parents have been helping me in what was possible for them, but currently we have rent and bills to pay and it has been getting more and more difficult to be able to sustain the necessary expenses for all of this, I have tried to get a job that fits my school schedule, but I have not been successful since the job I had was very flexible in terms of hours and I could adapt to work, study and carry out my current routine, I am very sorry for doing this but if any of you could support me I would really appreciate it infinitely, I am also willing to take any kind of drawing commission for any type of donation, I just have to be able to cover the expenses of these 2 months in terms of school and dental treatment, since I genuinely do not want to have to stop my studies again because of this situation ( I am very close to getting my certificate in April next year), during the end of year holidays I will focus on getting a new job to be able to continue, it really is very unexpected how things can change from one moment to another and unfortunately for now I do not have anyone else who can support me and im really sorry
Anything you can donate would really help. I just need to get together what I need to pay for these 2 months of school and supplies before the end of the year!
I have until November 11th to 17th to make my next payment!
IM REALLY CLOSE FOR GETTING THIS FIRST PAYMENT PLEASE HELP ME OUT IF U CAN SHARE OR DONATE I WILL INFINITELY THANK U

skin is not supposed to be perfectly smooth and clear and unblemished. it’s literally like 5 sq ft of organ that’s ENTIRELY ON THE OUTSIDE OF YOUR BODY. it’s supposed to protect you and your organs and your muscles and ligaments etc. without skin that can adapt we would all be riddled with infections and pain. even “imperfect” skin loves you and doesn’t want you to suffer. be nice to it . it is your friend

That’s not how slurs work but not like genocide supporters give a shit.
mind you this decision comes 2 days after a prominent Iranian gaming streamer found out he was demonetized for using the "Iran" tag and lost all his revenue for the past month. people are reporting that the Venezuela and Ecuador tags have also resulted in withheld ad revenue. and make no mistake, this is entirely thanks to racist freaks like destiny and h3h3 making a hijabi woman the poster child for their hate campaign.
Not gonna start a fight with anyone in particular, but "some people's livelihoods rely on animal agriculture" annoys me.
Yeah, some people's income comes from killing and/or abusing animals. And some people's income comes from abusing people. Living off it doesn't make it right.
Like would you say it's ok for higher ups in things like Amazon or Shein to enforce horrible conditions onto others because that's what gets them paid?
I can very much want someone to be able to live comfortably and also want them to not make the money for that from shit like factory farming.
It's also worth noting that animal agriculture seems to frequently target immigrants, people with little to no qualifications and those who would have difficulty finding jobs elsewhere.
A large proportion of the farm hands (not farm owners) and slaughterhouse workers I've met were people with a criminal record, people with an intellectual disability (idk if that's the right term), school drop outs, etc.
The slaughterhouse workers in particular often suffered from PTSD-like symptoms due to their jobs. My dad had several friends who reported nightmares and personality changes after working at a slaughterhouse for several months, and many of them quit because their mental health couldn't take it (not everyone who does these jobs has that option though).
Most of the people at the bottom of the system don't want to be working in factory farming and would happily choose to do something else if given the chance. If animal agriculture was swapped out for a different, kinder industry most of the workers who are truly dependent on it would be better off.
These people are essentially targeted into doing horrible exploitative work that nobody else would be willing to do to earn money for someone at the top of a business. In large-scale agriculture, it's never the smiling happy go lucky farmer with corn in his mouth cleaning out the cow slurry or chucking whole chickens into TheNuggetMaker3000(tm)
Those at the top of the industry are usually smart enough to commit tax fraud and circumvent welfare rules, so trust me, they could almost certainly re-train and get a different job if they wanted to.
"We shouldn't close down factory farming because what about the people who work in factory farming ): they need the money ):" is like saying "We shouldn't shut down the unsafe dirty factory that makes dangerous goods and pollutes the environment because what about the workers being exploited there who have nowhere else to go ): they need the money ):"
Yes!!
We take the horrible traumatising jobs nobody wants to do and give them to people who don't have other options. It's a system built off racism, classism and ableism.
becarse we all just a wanna be big rockstar
Speaking of food and ethics, one thing that really bothers me about animal rights activists is the laclk of class awareness. Ironic since they tend to be left leaning. I'm talking about things like insisting everyone can go vegan and demonising people working in slaughterhouses. In my experience, people working there are just normal people doing their job, many of them working class and immigrant workers. Capitalism is the main force behind exploitation of animals and most of us are the victims of it.
I hear a lot of talk about vegans like this but almost never seem to encounter any of them. It is very possible that I’m just in a well curated bubble, but the majority of AR organisations and activists I encounter are intersectional, many of them get into the movement because of their socialist/anarchist views. As with all anti-vegan sentiments, I see complaints about the thing far more often than I actually see the thing, despite being very involved in this community.
In fact, the only people I ever see shining a light on the plight of slaughterhouse workers are vegans, nobody else seems to ever want to talk about it, probably because of how complicit people who choose to buy animal products are in that exploitation. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single post about this from a non-vegan that wasn’t in the context of responding to a vegan argument on the topic. That seems to be the only time anti-vegans care about this issue.
There definitely are vegans who don’t see how slaughterhouse workers are also victims of this horrendous industry, but the most conspicuous lack class consciousness I see is from left wing anti-vegans. This vision of a post-capitalist utopia where we are still exploiting animal bodies and labour for our own benefit, and still employing people to do the deeply traumatic and demonstrably harmful work of slaughtering animals in their thousands is absurd, by any consistent understanding of anti-capitalist ideology.
The acknowledgement that not everyone can avoid all animal products all the time is baked into the very definition of what it means to be vegan. We avoid animal exploitation as far as is possible and practicable. That is the Vegan Society’s own definition; I don’t know any vegan who doesn’t acknowledge that.
I’m sure you’re talking about a very small minority of aggressive and small-minded vegans, who I’d condemn as well. But too often these bad actors are viewed as the “problem with animal rights activists,” as if this is a univocal or even a majority viewpoint within a community I suspect that most people making these criticisms have very little actually experience with.
There are people like this in every movement, but I hope you don’t let that taint your view of all activists who are working on behalf of some of the most systematically exploited groups on earth.

I am Osama Al-Anqar and my wife's
name is Rana Raed Al-Anqar. We have a little girl. We used to live in our house in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood. We used to live in peace and security and I had a job, but the war came and took everything from me, first of all my brother Mahmoud, who was martyred in the bombing of the Baptist Hospital. He left behind his children and wife, and my brother Ahmed, whose front leg was amputated in the same bombing. I lost my house, my family's house, and my job. Now we have become homeless, moving from one place to another. We are gripped by fear, terror, and hunger. My daughter suffers from extreme fear and panic, and suffers from lack of food and skin diseases due to the lack of water and cleanliness. We are in dire need of your help. We call on you to fund this fund to save my family and provide safe shelter, food, drink, and health care. Your donation is no matter what can happen to us in our lives. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your support means more.
