Love-Bokumono-Fics FAQ
Where did you get your icon and banner?
Blog Banner was commissioned from @momocosi
Drop a link to the fic you want to submit into the Submission Box. Include any information you want about the fic, say something nice about the story or the author, why you're submitting it, whether is fits in with a tag/trope feature, or if it's a request fill, your favorite lines and/or a teaser. Or say nothing at all, if you so desire.
If you want your submission to be Anonymous, YOU MUST TELL ME. I can and will anonymize submissions. Otherwise they will be posted with your username attached to them.
Can I submit fic directly into the inbox?
I would prefer if you didn't. Please make your own tumblr post, put it up on AO3 or your preferred fanfiction posting site of choice. Just please provide me with a link to follow.
What if I want to Submit Fic or a Rec, but I don't want anyone to know it's me?
If you request to remain Anonymous, I will gladly do so. Your username will not be related to the submission in any way, shape or form. However I cannot do that if you do not tell me. By default, all submissions will be posted publicly.
So, do you only accept fic posted on AO3?
No! AO3 is the Admin's preferred fanfiction browsing and reading site, but I know it's not the only one in use. If you have fic you want to recommend from wordpress or fanfiction-dot-net or wattpad or even directly from here on Tumblr, you are more than welcome to do so! I just need those links!
If you have a request for a fic you would like to read, but don't want to write, you can drop it into my inbox via ask or submission.
Requests are the only things I will anonymize by default. I will compile requests in sets of 10 or on a weekly post and put them up for all to see and choose to fill as they want.
As the Admin, I reserve the right to not post requests that I find inappropriate, Not Safe For Tumblr, and/or will violate Tumblr's terms of service. (Absolutely no judgement if that's what you love to read. But this blog is not the place to request it. If you have a request that is not appropriate for this blog, I recommend reaching out to an author you love who writes that kind of content and see about commissioning them.)
But what if I want to request something NSFW?
NSFW requests are fine in my book, provided they do not violate Tumblr's TOS. Being Written Word, fic can get away with a lot here, but I know anything depicting underage characters (younger than 18) in NSFW circumstances will not fly, and I do not want this blog to get deleted.
NSFW requests will be compiled into their own request post and tagged accordingly just to keep everything separate for those who wish to filter.
As the Admin, I reserve the right to not post requests that I find inappropriate and/or violate Tumblr's terms of service.
What counts as Not Safe For Tumblr?
Anything that violates Tumblr's TOS. And as a general rule of thumb, the Admin tends to approach works with the AO3 Big 4 Warnings (graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death, Rape/Non-Con, and Underage Sex) with caution for sharing. Stories tagged Rape/Non-Con and Underage and stories that include Incest will automatically be considered Not Safe For Tumblr. The other warnings will be allowed at the Admin's discretion.
Do you read all of the fic you recommend?
Man I wish I could. Alas, the Admin is a grown adult who works a full time job, so I do not have unlimited reading time. A lot of the fic recommendations are going to be picked directly from their AO3 postings, and included the tags and content warnings the author picked.
Admin is not responsible for inadequately tagged fics.
I wish people would write more fic about X.
Hey, I do to. I wish every time I had wished for a story to read about my favorite trope or ship or whatever there was something fresh and new and perfect to my tastes right there for me on AO3. But writing fic takes time and effort, and it's something writers do for free. So making demands of a fic writer is a no-no in my book.
There are plenty of ways to politely encourage a writer: comment on their fic, drop a friendly not in their inbox, reblog their posts about their stories and writing, follow their blog or twitter, recommend their work (look you're in the perfect place for that!) let the writer know what you love about what they do. Hell, just saying please and thank you goes a long way.
You recommended a Work in Progress that hasn't been updated in ages. Can you reach out to the writer and ask them to keep working?
Hey, you recommended a fic and I personally think it's garbage/problematic/poorly written.
That's nice. I don't care. You can keep your opinions between yourself and your friends and in your own personal discussions. Your opinions, thoughts, and feelings are not the law here. The Admin's are.
And the Admin firmly believes in Don't Like, Don't Read, Don't Comment. I'm here to encourage love for all kinds of fic in this fandom, not tear down anyone's work.
If this rankles you, you are more than welcome to create your own fic collection/recommendation blog and curate it to your personal tastes.
Could you maybe not share NSFW fics on this blog? Seeing them makes me uncomfortable.
Please see the question above for my stance in remaining fair and impartial to all writers in the fandom.
All recommended fic will be fully marked with rating and other content warnings by default. So hopefully nobody will stumble across any unpleasant surprises they weren't forewarned about.
Tags may be edited in the weekly posts to remove sexually explicit tags, but when that happens there will be a note about that.
If you do not want to potentially see anything you might find upsetting, I recommend employing any of the many filtering tools available to hide posts for you that contain certain key words. I will never censor words in posts so filters should be effective.
If you see the tags and warnings and still click on the fic and read something upsetting, you can only blame yourself.
For the sake of my personal sanity, I generally do not include Outside Fandom Crossovers, or those types of fics that are prompt/drabble collections with a dozen fandoms tagged in weekly posts. Crossovers that are tagged for the fandom but do not include any Bokumono characters (ie. A Star Wars farm-sim inspired AU) are not included in the weekly posts.
However crossovers that prominently feature Bokumono characters and other characters will be included in the weekly posts.
Submissions that are Crossover fics are also allowed if you have one you'd like to rec.
Note: "Outside Fandom" means anything not directly related to Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons/Bokumono games. For example: a fic in which ANB characters move to Mineral Town is not considered an Outside Fandom Crossover
You put one of my fics on this blog and I'm not really okay with that.
Hey, that's totally cool! If I've recommended something of yours that you would rather not have shared around tumblr, please reach out to me and let me know and I will remove the link(s) and make a note that you would prefer not to be posted here. In a perfect world, I would be able to reach out to every author on AO3 and get their permission prior to posting a link to their story, but the system doesn't work that way. I am admittedly running on the assumption that most writers are like myself and would be thrilled to have their fic recommended, but I am fully aware that my feelings are not the default.
