Vacation Announcement

Hey y'all, this is a heads up that I will be heading on vacation and have little to no internet access from Saturday 9/21 thru Monday 9/30.

That means there won't be a fresh crop post for the last week or so of the month. When I get back I'll see if I can do a catch up post. (depending on how many updates there are)

Otherwise I'll be picking up fresh crops again with October 1.

Cheers!

It hasn't cropped up in the fandom yet, I don't think, but I saw a post about AI fics on my dash and figured it was a good a time as any to make this statement.

I am SEVERELY against AI generated fics I won't even grace them with the word 'writing' because it isn't writing. It's word vomit that happens to look semi legibile.

If I find an AI generated fic I will NOT be sharing it on this blog via submission recommendation or weekly Fresh Crops.

I make an effort to not willingly or knowingly share AI generated fic. If I ever have, it was a mistake.

This rule doesn't include the use of AI tools to help your writing process, for example proof-reading AI or prompt generators.

But if you use AI to generate any part of your actual story, it will be disqualified from recommendation on this blog. I will make a note of the author's name and I will not share their future work.

To put plainly: If you can't even be bothered to write it, why should anyone bother to read it. And why should I bother to share it?

And to be mean about it. If your excuse for using AI instead of actually writing a story is "but I'm a bad writer and AI is better than me." Shut up. Stop crying. And actually try for once. Write badly. Learn from failure. Get better with practice. Nobody's instantly good at anything they're new at. Get comfortable with being bad and learn how to get better. AI is only going to make you a worse writer.

It's pleasantly surprising I haven't had to tap this sign yet in 3 years of this blog. But for a refresher, or in case you haven't read the FAQ, here's a reminder:

🔻🔻🔻

🔺️🔺️🔺️

It has always been my goal with this blog and with the weekly posts to share all fic created for the bokumono fandom, regardless of any personal feeling I, or anyone else, might have about said fics.

I'm not saying you cannot dislike certain fics/writers/tropes etc. I'm not saying you can't find certain content problematic/poorly written/in bad taste/offensive or triggering.

All I'm saying is, if you're going to express opinions about fics/writers you don't like, do it on your own blogs and in your own spaces.

I won't let my posts be used as platforms for tearing down writers in this fandom.

Hey y'all! I'm back from vacation and we'll be going back to our regularly scheduled blogging!

Sorry guys, I didn't realize I was going to take AO3 with me when I went on vacation >.<

Joking aside, huge thanks to my attempted substitute for trying to keep things running, but both webbed sites decided to be poopy about functioning.

And thanks for watering the plants and bringing in the mail!

Just on another small note, my work schedule is shifting, and while I will still aim for the fresh crop posts to come out every Monday, I am moving to night shifts and I know I'll be working every other Sunday night, so I might not have the chance to get the posts queued up right on time.

Anonymous asked:

Hi! Should we submit writing prompts/requests through the ask box or the submission box?

Writing Prompts and requests should come through the ask box. (The submission box does work too, but I think the ask box is more convenient)

I'll compile all the requests/prompts and post them on Sundays, so send in as many as you want! They will all be anonymized by default.

Did you know your submissions can be Anonymous?

It's true!

Look, fanfiction can be such a personal thing, and maybe sometimes you read or write something you absolutely love, but it's a little embarrassing to share something so self-indulgent.

I get it. I've been there. Private bookmarks and the Anonymous collection on AO3 are a godsend sometimes 😂

Or maybe you just want to say nice things about a friend's fic, but you want it to be a pleasant surprise.

Or you wanna Self-Promo, but you don't really wanna Self Promo.

Or maybe you've written something under a second account/old username that you maybe don't want directly attached to your current one.

Or any number of other reasons that you have no obligation to share! Your comfortable level of anonymity on the internet is important!

I can, and gladly will, anonymize Submissions! All you have to do is say the words "I'd like this to be Anonymous, please!" and your wish shall be granted!

NSFW/EXPLICIT Fic Policies

We will share and feature Mature and Explicit Rated fic on the blog, including Smut, Graphic Violence, Rape/Non-Con, and other Sensitive Materials.

MINORS are expected to conduct themselves appropriately, and not interact with Adult Content or other material that may upset them.

ADULTS are expected to conduct themselves appropriately, and not interact with Adult Content or other material that may upset them.

All posts containing Explicit/Smut fics will be tagged with NSFW. Employ your filters and blacklists as necessary.

Fic Tags detailing the type of smut found within a fic Will Not be copied over into a blog post. (*Exceptions being the Friday NSFW posts. All tags will be under a read more cut)

If a fic contains Any of the AO3 "Big 4" Archive Warnings (Rape/Non-Con, Graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death*, Underage) , a link will Not be included in the blog post.

This is to keep the blog "Safe for Tumblr" and keep us from getting deleted.

(*Major Character Death may be an exception to the No Link rule, provided none of the other Archive Warnings apply)

Readers must use their own judgement for fics where the Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings. This may mean None Apply, it may also mean One or More is featured in the story, but for their own reasons the author chose not to warn for them. The Admin will determine if the No Link Rule applies by checking Additional Tags.

If you wish to read non-linked fics, they will be easy to find via title and author name listed in the blog posts.

Fic Submissions will be subject to the same rules.

The Admin reserves the right to personal discretion when it comes to featuring/linking to NSFW/Explicit fics in the effort of keeping to Tumblr's content policy.

Welcome to Love-Bokumomo-Fics!

We are here to collect and recommend the incredible fanfiction produced by this fandom. New fic, old fic, long fic and short fic. We want to recommend it all, because we love it all!

This is a Fic Rec Blog, so recommend some fics!

Recommend your favorites, recommend your friend's fic, recommend your own fic, recommend that one really old fic you read years ago and absolutely loved! Rec all the fic! Drop those links into the submission box!

Okay, I love fic, but I can't write.

That's great! This blog is for readers too! A place for you to browse and hopefully find something new, or a place for you to show everyone what your favorite fic is. You can recommend fic without writing it!

I have an idea, but I don't want to be the one to write it...

You can submit requests and prompts too! Requests will be posted weekly or in batches of ten, whichever comes first. requests and prompts can be a great source of inspiration! Keep in mind, though, just because you submit a request does not guarantee a writer will fulfill it, or that it will 100% match what you sent in. A request fill is exactly that, someone sharing your enthusiasm and inspiration for an idea.

Have any other questions? Consult the FAQ!

Posts to look forward to!

Mondays: A Shipment of Fresh Crops! - The week's newest fics and chapter updates

Monthly Poll Prompts: Vote via poll every month for a casual prompt and then fill it to your heart's desire over the next weeks.

I am one person and I have a brain made of swiss cheese when it comes to remembering to check fandom tags (also tumblr hates putting links in fandom tags sometimes). If you ever post fic on tumblr and want me to share it to the blog, feel free to @ the blog, or send me a DM so I see the post!

Love-Bokumono-Fics FAQ

Where did you get your icon and banner?

Blog Icon was commissioned from @lm-tomatito

Blog Banner was commissioned from @momocosi

How do I Submit a fic?

Drop a link to the fic you want to submit into the Submission Box. Include any information you want about the fic, say something nice about the story or the author, why you're submitting it, whether is fits in with a tag/trope feature, or if it's a request fill, your favorite lines and/or a teaser. Or say nothing at all, if you so desire.

If you want your submission to be Anonymous, YOU MUST TELL ME. I can and will anonymize submissions. Otherwise they will be posted with your username attached to them.

Can I submit fic directly into the inbox?

I would prefer if you didn't. Please make your own tumblr post, put it up on AO3 or your preferred fanfiction posting site of choice. Just please provide me with a link to follow.

What if I want to Submit Fic or a Rec, but I don't want anyone to know it's me?

If you request to remain Anonymous, I will gladly do so. Your username will not be related to the submission in any way, shape or form. However I cannot do that if you do not tell me. By default, all submissions will be posted publicly.

So, do you only accept fic posted on AO3?

No! AO3 is the Admin's preferred fanfiction browsing and reading site, but I know it's not the only one in use. If you have fic you want to recommend from wordpress or fanfiction-dot-net or wattpad or even directly from here on Tumblr, you are more than welcome to do so! I just need those links!

So how to Requests work?

If you have a request for a fic you would like to read, but don't want to write, you can drop it into my inbox via ask or submission.

Requests are the only things I will anonymize by default. I will compile requests in sets of 10 or on a weekly post and put them up for all to see and choose to fill as they want.

As the Admin, I reserve the right to not post requests that I find inappropriate, Not Safe For Tumblr, and/or will violate Tumblr's terms of service. (Absolutely no judgement if that's what you love to read. But this blog is not the place to request it. If you have a request that is not appropriate for this blog, I recommend reaching out to an author you love who writes that kind of content and see about commissioning them.)

But what if I want to request something NSFW?

NSFW requests are fine in my book, provided they do not violate Tumblr's TOS. Being Written Word, fic can get away with a lot here, but I know anything depicting underage characters (younger than 18) in NSFW circumstances will not fly, and I do not want this blog to get deleted.

NSFW requests will be compiled into their own request post and tagged accordingly just to keep everything separate for those who wish to filter.

As the Admin, I reserve the right to not post requests that I find inappropriate and/or violate Tumblr's terms of service.

What counts as Not Safe For Tumblr?

Anything that violates Tumblr's TOS. And as a general rule of thumb, the Admin tends to approach works with the AO3 Big 4 Warnings (graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death, Rape/Non-Con, and Underage Sex) with caution for sharing. Stories tagged Rape/Non-Con and Underage and stories that include Incest will automatically be considered Not Safe For Tumblr. The other warnings will be allowed at the Admin's discretion.

Do you read all of the fic you recommend?

Man I wish I could. Alas, the Admin is a grown adult who works a full time job, so I do not have unlimited reading time. A lot of the fic recommendations are going to be picked directly from their AO3 postings, and included the tags and content warnings the author picked.

Admin is not responsible for inadequately tagged fics.

I wish people would write more fic about X.

Hey, I do to. I wish every time I had wished for a story to read about my favorite trope or ship or whatever there was something fresh and new and perfect to my tastes right there for me on AO3. But writing fic takes time and effort, and it's something writers do for free. So making demands of a fic writer is a no-no in my book.

There are plenty of ways to politely encourage a writer: comment on their fic, drop a friendly not in their inbox, reblog their posts about their stories and writing, follow their blog or twitter, recommend their work (look you're in the perfect place for that!) let the writer know what you love about what they do. Hell, just saying please and thank you goes a long way.

You recommended a Work in Progress that hasn't been updated in ages. Can you reach out to the writer and ask them to keep working?

No.

Hey, you recommended a fic and I personally think it's garbage/problematic/poorly written.

That's nice. I don't care. You can keep your opinions between yourself and your friends and in your own personal discussions. Your opinions, thoughts, and feelings are not the law here. The Admin's are.

And the Admin firmly believes in Don't Like, Don't Read, Don't Comment. I'm here to encourage love for all kinds of fic in this fandom, not tear down anyone's work.

If this rankles you, you are more than welcome to create your own fic collection/recommendation blog and curate it to your personal tastes.

Could you maybe not share NSFW fics on this blog? Seeing them makes me uncomfortable.

Please see the question above for my stance in remaining fair and impartial to all writers in the fandom.

All recommended fic will be fully marked with rating and other content warnings by default. So hopefully nobody will stumble across any unpleasant surprises they weren't forewarned about.

Tags may be edited in the weekly posts to remove sexually explicit tags, but when that happens there will be a note about that.

If you do not want to potentially see anything you might find upsetting, I recommend employing any of the many filtering tools available to hide posts for you that contain certain key words. I will never censor words in posts so filters should be effective.

If you see the tags and warnings and still click on the fic and read something upsetting, you can only blame yourself.

What About Crossovers?

For the sake of my personal sanity, I generally do not include Outside Fandom Crossovers, or those types of fics that are prompt/drabble collections with a dozen fandoms tagged in weekly posts. Crossovers that are tagged for the fandom but do not include any Bokumono characters (ie. A Star Wars farm-sim inspired AU) are not included in the weekly posts.

However crossovers that prominently feature Bokumono characters and other characters will be included in the weekly posts.

Submissions that are Crossover fics are also allowed if you have one you'd like to rec.

Note: "Outside Fandom" means anything not directly related to Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons/Bokumono games. For example: a fic in which ANB characters move to Mineral Town is not considered an Outside Fandom Crossover

You put one of my fics on this blog and I'm not really okay with that.

Hey, that's totally cool! If I've recommended something of yours that you would rather not have shared around tumblr, please reach out to me and let me know and I will remove the link(s) and make a note that you would prefer not to be posted here. In a perfect world, I would be able to reach out to every author on AO3 and get their permission prior to posting a link to their story, but the system doesn't work that way. I am admittedly running on the assumption that most writers are like myself and would be thrilled to have their fic recommended, but I am fully aware that my feelings are not the default.
