-2/3 of the House of Representatives (290)

-3/4 of the states (38)

In 2026, 33 senate seats will be up for grabs, and we’ll be able to vote for people who are against Trump and his ideals.

Breathe and remain hopeful because it’s not over. We can still fight and make Trump’s last four years hell.

This is so important. Also pay attention to local elections. Now more than ever it's important to have staunch anti Trump democrats at every level of government - from school boards to senate seats. Apathy and not voting helped Trump win. Now is the time to wake up and get serious and hold on to the freedoms we have left. We have got to fight for every inch of territory. Do not give up. Do not give him any more power than he already has.

And RESIST. Do not give into fear. Do not give into despair. Do not give the fascists one more atom of power than they already have. Whatever your position and role in society use it. Do not preemptively self censor or comply. Do not give them any more power than they already have. Instead use your own power to protect others and to protect democracy and to stand up for what is right and to tell the fascists NO when they try to bend laws and break rules and intimidate and coerce.

There are nearly 70 million people who voted to reject fascism and more who weren't old enough but would have if they could. You are not alone.

We grieved with you and are willing to speak out and stand with you in whatever way we can. Palestinians are literally out there right now saying Trump winning - which is what will happen if everyone doesn't get out there and vote for Harris - would be a worst case scenario for them (x). This is the thing with the "I won't vote for Harris" supposed leftists.

None of them will tell you how allowing Trump to be elected helps.

Because they don't have an answer.

Because they don't really care about anything other than how they personally feel.

Actual leftism involves making pragmatic moves. The public will for revolution doesn't exist, and we live in a two party system. If you want to fight that system, great. There are things like ranked choice voting and the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact we need to be fighting for. But those are fights that have to happen year round, at the state level, and not just in an election year.

And in the meanwhile, you vote defensively and strategically, in an attempt to save as many people as possible.

Saying you aren't voting for Harris isn't taking a stand against genocide. It's putting your head in the sand and admitting you care more about your own comfort than making a difference in the world.

Why aren't you getting involved in your local politics? Why aren't you running leftist candidates at a local level, so you can move them up in the system and eventually move the political discussion left. You want to know why politics have moved right? It's because the right wing has been doing that for decades.

Your refusal to participate won't save a single life.

It only means you're abandoning everyone else.

Saying they both "approve of the Gazan genocide" deeply misrepresents the situation. Harris has called for a cease fire while Trump has said he wants Israel to "finish the job."

Netanyahu is refusing to come to the table with Bidem because he thinks Trump can win the election.

That's what's actually happening. Harris may not be saying everything we want (and remember she's not actually in power right now), but to represent these positions as the same is irresponsible.

If the left doesn't vote democrat, but meanwhile, the right votes enmasse for republicans, then the democrats will move further right in an effort to court votes.

But if the left vote enmass, then it tells the democrats, "Hey, the left likes what you're doing. If you go even further left, you'll get more votes."

Aka the more that the left votes democrat, the more leftist the democrats will move.

If the left refrains from voting, then the democrats will move further right.

So for the love of God, fucking vote.

Also, the other thing is, you need to beware of echo chambers.

Just because you and all your friends think Harris is a centrist, that does not mean that that is a common view. How often do you listen to people who don't agree with you, politically? I have to do it fairly regularly, and the average American is far more likely to think that Biden and Harris are both far-leftist extremists than they are to think they're middle-of-the-road.

Yes. That's right. To a lot of Americans, Biden and Harris are so far left that they are terrifying.

I know life-long Democrats who believe that. Who think that, in retrospect, sure, Trump was bad but Biden and Harris are just as bad, in the opposite direction. They're faced with what they see as a choice between two dangerous extremists, in opposite directions.

They're wrong, but you will never convince them of that.

Trump has never been popular, he has never won the popular vote, and he has never had popular support. For the past 3 years, especially post Roe V. Wade, Democrats have increasingly overperformed especially in special elections. There were so many polls predicting 2022 would be a Red Wave, that turned out to be false due to faulty and biased polling. I'm not saying a Dem loss is impossible, but it is a lot less of a sure thing than the doomsayers are making it out to be

How does Trump win? Apathy. Despair. Low Turn Out. While many of the "Trump is guaranteed to win" posters I'm sure are real people who are justifiably scared, I think we underestimate just how many are people at home and abroad, who want a lower turnout, who want Trump to win.

I used to hear a joke growing up that "If voting did anything, they would make it illegal" Well considering how hard Republicans are trying to discourage voting and making it hard to do, it must do something.

Don't despair. Don't panic. Don't retreat. ACT

So what can you do?

Spread this far and wide. Tell your friends and your family. Make clear to them what is at stake if Trump wins.

Reblogging this as an example of what the Russian interference here on tumblr was. I have seen some people in the past days casting doubts on Tumblr because the blogs that were banned had social justice content. 

But that was the point exactly. They posted some real things and a lot of half-truths that would appeal to the kind of politics on here and therefore spread disinformation to discourage us from participating in stopping Trump through the only option we had. I’m glad tumblr left these posts up so we could see for ourselves. 

I don’t know if it actually worked on anyone, I hope we all remember to check our sources before making our decisions, but life is short and maybe some people didn’t.  There are plenty of real social justice blogs available still, so I hope we will follow those instead.
