My take on the scrapped star boy from Wish

Couldnt resist drawing the starry-eyed... well Star from the original concepts!

I heard somewhere their name was Earendel, soooo Im going to roll with that and call them Earen for short :)

Backstory Idea

Earendel is a celestial being, born in the farthest parts of the galaxy. Even if they were surrounded by stars like them, they felt alone as they could not shine as bright as they did. However, they found solace by watching the humans live their lives.

They always had a fascination with humans, and grew evermore curious. This is where they learn about humans holding wishes in their hearts, and have the drive to make them come true without magic with their own faith and determination. They inspired them to take matters into their own hands. Then one day, even in the deepest, darkest parts of space, they heard an earnest wish sung to the stars awaiting for a reply.

A wish asking the heavens for something better than the reality created by the king and queen. More than willing to help, they raced down to earth to meet the girl who made this wish and help make it come true.

Motivation

They thought in the bigger picture, they were just a tiny speck in the sky with no significance. Their wish was to leave their mark and make a difference, so they too can shine bright. By the end of the movie, their new wish is to stay with their new friends and true love, Asha.

Just started doodling to pass the time today and ended up with a little Star x Asha scene. Enjoy!

Found some extra shots from the cut Starboy scene! The scene is longer on digital and DVD, but I managed to get these. I think it shows how Star changed shape underwater after they escape Queen Amaya. God, Starboy was just so awesome....The last pic is giving me the "At All Costs" vibe, for real! 😍

Sooooo I got caught up in the rewrites for Disney's Wish. SO HERE WE GO! Taking inspiration from the ideas floating around I decided to make Asha the adopted daughter of King Magnifico and Queen Amaya. Backstory Idea She was found amongst the rubble of Magnifico's burned city, all because of a rival kingdom's wish to rule the lands, willing or not. He took the baby in and raised her as his own along with Amaya. Wanting a better future for his people and family, he used his talents as a sorcerer to build a utopia where wishes come true. Throughout the years, Magnifico taught Asha magic, while Amaya taught her the laws of the kingdom, so she can take their place as the rightful heir to the throne. They had high expectations set for her, while they did love her, they were also very strict. As a result, Asha became more reserved, keeping her own wants and needs to herself. However she grew close to the kingdom's staff, and found it easier to show her passions and woes. She goes to the city as much as she is permitted, and finds those who haven't had their wishes granted have an emptiness in their hearts. She soon finds out the cruel practice her father kept in his tower on her 18th birthday.

Motivation

She wants to bring change to her kingdom. Allow room for individuality and agency for her and the people so they can have the opportunity to grant their own wishes. But she hesitates because she doesn't want to disappoint her family, her friends, or society because of their clashing ideals and principles.

By the end of the movie, she finds her voice, inspiring her people to speak up for what was in their hearts.

When Starboy makes Asha's dress, he gives her pockets because he knows what women really wish for.

Disney's Wish poster redesign

The composition was referenced from Stardust (2007) poster because that movie is about the star character who falls from the sky and meet the main human character just like Wish's early concept.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I ENVISIONED FOR THE “AT ALL COST” SCENE IN MY REWRITE!!! ITS SO PRETTY!!! THEYRE DANCING ON CLOUDS IN THE NIGHT SKY!!!

AM I REALLY GONNA SAY “WE WERE ROBBED” WHEN TALKING ABOUT A 74 YEAR OLD MOVIE???

One question. Why did they give Asha lilac?!

Why not, say, raspberry? Like this?

I mean... Just look! This color ALREADY WAS!

I understand that the image of Asha was supposed to refer to the Fairy Godmother, but... I don't know.

We haven't seen a princess in a crimson dress yet.

If you like Asha's final design, that's fine. This is just my personal opinion.
