People on the internet treat autism like it's some cute, childish thing, but like, autism and the trauma that comes with it have literally lead me to severe alcoholism, anger issues and a criminal record.

This post goes out to autistic addicts and autistic people who have personality disorders and autistic people who have hurt people during meltdowns and autistic people who have been in trouble with the law and autistic people who have been diagnosed with every mental illness under the sun only to find out it was autism all along.

You are loved. Your trauma and your reactions to it do not make you a bad person.

When autistics make social mistakes or do illegal things you see a lot of people "disown" them from their disability by saying "This is not a symptom of autism you're JUST a bad person/I have autism and I'VE never done this" But that really, really isn't fair.

Autistic people who were raised with bad caretakers may accidentally adopt their bad beliefs or habits, and because of rigid black and white thinking/insistence on rules and structure, it may take them years to unpack why what was taught/done to them was wrong and what else they could be practicing.

A lot of autistic people can't identify or regulate strong emotions like other people, so they don't know how to cope with it. They can turn to substances ("I need to numb/distract from this feeling in order to function"), self-harm or other destructive habits ("I need a physical release of this feeling in order to function") And once you fall into those habits it is incredibly hard to find something that can replace it, that feels the same way or better and is a healthy outlet at the same time.

People try to divorce these things from being caused by autism, under the guise of reducing stigma, but all you're doing is stigmatizing struggling autistic people even further. I always see people saying "I'm autistic and I know better" Good for you. Not everyone does. You cannot leave people who had little guidance or who are differently intellectually disabled than you in the dust. I am not the standard for autism, I can't hold anyone else to my standard, That's not fair.

You are loved, You are trying your best, You are not a "bad person". Life is extra difficult for you and I know it's hard that no one takes that into account. You should though, be gentle with yourself.

it is forever hilarious to me that in 2x05 when armand and louis are fighting louis takes just about 5 business days to process the fact that armand claimed to be "picking lint off the sofa" waiting for him and just reacted with such abject confusion as soon as he did

dude was like "are you fucking for real????"

I can't explain that as amazing as this delivery is, it's the TIME DELAY between Armand saying that and Louis incredulously repeating it like 20 lines of dialogue later that really sells it for me. Something so realistic & hilarious to me when a character goes "hey can we circle back to that bonkers thing you said a minute ago?!" instead of reacting immediately. Chef's kiss, this whole fucking scene.
