people will read my posts and think im just bitter destiel is losing to azicrow. I am not. In fact I love both ships. However I am concerned that the younger fans seem to think what makes a ship ship is that it's canon. This conviction goes against everything fandom stands for. This is a creative space that takes other people's works and transforms them into a new thing. The fact that we tell stories that are diverse from canon or expand on it is the very core of fanfiction & fanart. Thinking a ship is a ship because they are a couple in canon, needing this "permit" from the other side (be it studio, author, etc) stalls creativity & is another stepping stone on the road of homogenization of creativity and that is scary to me.
