"I'm unmoved by white tears."
interesting how whenever white women go into a transformative/rebellious period after something happens, usually a messy breakup, they go through a ‘don’t need no man’ phase where they adopt woc, mainly black women’s, aesthetics including tanning, using AAVE, lip injections etc. and then what they perceive these women to be, acting overly sexual and flippant/rude
but once they settle into a new life/with a partner/go into business (ex. miley cyrus, kylie jenner) they go right back to the pure, feminine white woman image.
ariana’s the next example of this and I bet good money she’s going to lose that tan and drop her AAVE once she gets her traumas dealt with and maybe gets married.
like… the association of woc with ‘not needing a man’ (aka being seen as unfeminine), cultural appropriation and digital blackface, and then the quick dismissal of those traits as soon as they’re no longer needed by white women, leaving people who live in that skin tone and speak that way all the time, stuck with the negative image
basically what I’m saying is that the white woman’s version of being rebellious/unfeminine or ‘acting out’ is to act like woc/pretend to be a black women which is Yikes
White black wasn’t just a way to mock black people. White people who wanted to act out of thier societal conventions would “black up” to go party and do other activities inappropriate to the image of proper white folk.
Miley Cyrus is pulling off the white woman getting married image game BS right now.. don’t forget how she renounced her “Bangerz/Dead Pets” phase and said that she was in a bad place and was being harmed by negative influences (ripping off AAVE, twerking, and African American culture and ignoring all the black women who called her out). lmfao… she is literally the most basic-est Becky at her peakest.
They use our images to feel powerful
and then toss it away when it’s time to be “put together”
White women feminists (even those who try to position themselves as different - “radical” “marxist” “materialist” etc) almost always fail to interrogate their own whiteness, and how their lives and social positioning are the product of empire and colonialism. When confronted with this reality, and when women of colour and/or nonwestern women demand that they recognise that their whiteness does not make them objective or neutral, but is actually based on our subjugation, they almost always revert to the same positions.
They either displey performative innocence and confusion (“apparently I’m not supposed to talk about this because I’m white???? I don’t understand. Explain to me why this behaviour is racist!!”) and then proceeding to disregard any criticism of their behaviour and paint woc as aggressors.
Or they resort to calling the woc misogynists (or lesbophobes, biphobes, ableists etc depending what circle you are in, despite the fact that the woc in question often face those oppressions also) for any disagreement or being rightfully upset about a racist interaction with them.
White radical women’s ability to manipulate the current discourse to use oppression that they don’t face in their feminist arguments, while failing to recognise their own social position and their own oppressor status is disgusting . To many woc they are no different to the white liberals, white conservatives, and white men whose politics they profess to object to. White women’s inability to tackle their own whiteness is one of the biggest issues preventing global feminist movements. So to all of you who are supposedly ‘antiracist’ and want to uplift the voices of marginalised women, uplift this and actually engage with the criticisms presented by us.
me, every time white women act like only the white men are the racist blights in fandom
It is a lie that women have been able to vote since 1920.
White women have been able to vote since 1920. All Native American women couldn’t vote until 1924. All Asian women couldn’t vote until 1952. All Black women couldn’t vote until 1964.
In five years there is probably going to be some big centennial celebration of women’s suffrage. But that will be a whitewashing of history. It will be an event that erases the struggles of non-white women. It will be an event that will try to hide the fact that white feminists heros like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton actively argued against the rights of people of color in order to advance their own goals.
Any chance you can help provide references to Susan B Anthony's racism? I've got some ignorant white "feminists" to educate.
“I will cut off this right arm of mine before I will ever work or demand the ballot for the Negro and not the woman.” – Susan B. Anthony
“What words can express her [the white woman’s] humiliation when, at the close of this long conflict, the government which she had served so faithfully held her unworthy of a voice in its councils, while it recognized as the political superiors of all the noble women of the nation the negro men just emerged from slavery, and not only totally illiterate, but also densely ignorant of every public question.” – Susan B. Anthony
“The old anti slavery school says women must stand back and wait until the negroes shall be recognized. But we say, if you will not give the whole loaf of suffrage to the entire people, give it to the most intelligent first. If intelligence, justice, and morality are to have precedence in the government, let the question of the woman be brought up first and that of the negro last.” – Susan B. Anthony & Elizabeth Stanton
Quotes from Kirsten West Savali article “‘When and Where I Enter’: The Racist Expectations of Whites-Only Feminism”
Tumblrs reverseracism and knowledgeequalsblackpower have several posts on this, so be sure to head over there and take a look.
Girl-on-girl hate is women attacking each other for their body type, skin color, hair, race, etc. instead of supporting and defending each other.
Girl-on-girl hate is not women calling out other women’s racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.
Don’t try to use a twisted definition of feminism to demonize women who have the courage to call out unacceptable behavior when they see it.
I’ve been seeing headass headlines this for the past few days, and I simply ignored it bc the media does shit like this for money and clickbait. But I realized this is more than the media tryna get their coins, this is a blatant attack on black women and other woc. So @ white women? I think it’s time we have a little chat.
1. Beyonce has gone through a miscarriage, and thousands of other women have been through it as well. It is a terrible experience that no one deserves to go through. But Beyonce is a FAMOUS PERSON, and she has one of the largest fanbases in the world. So when she delivers news such as being pregnant with TWINS, of course the beyhive is gonna to go above and beyond when it comes to the reaction. Ya’ll dragged her through the mud w/ her first pregnancy trying to say it was faked. Now that she’s pregnant for a second time, she’s doing all these photo shoots to further prove the accuracy of it. And now ya’ll are criticizing her for it????? Tryna cover your asses for how you treated her 5 years ago??????? Get the fuck over it, because ya’ll didn’t say shit when these women did THIS w/ their pregnancy announcements:
2. Serena Williams has been demonized and ridiculed for her body type since FOREVER. People say that her body is “too masculine” and how she’s “built like a man”. It’s fucking gross because Serena is one of the most hard working athletes in the WORLD, and her body type shouldn’t be affiliated with the blood, sweat, and tears that goes into her career. White women, you can’t say that you’re an advocate for equality when you criticize a black woman’s photo shoot, deeming it “soft porn”, and yet you praise THESE photoshoots:
When a white woman, or hell even a non-black woman does shit like this, ya’ll are so quick to write article about how “empowering” they’re being. But when a black woman does it ya’ll all of the sudden wanna further sexualize and make it about “soft porn”??? Get over yourselves and let a black women love herself after receiving massive amounts of slander for her body type.
3. The role in Ghost in the Shell is definitely about race. If her character’s mom is Asian, then why tf couldn’t they just get an Asian person to play the character in the damn first place????
She should’ve just said “a woc deserves the role more than me, but unfortunately I can’t control who they cast” and then moved on. But nope, she had to make it about herself and disregard the fact woc are hardly ever represented in movies, especially Asian women.
4. You can’t criticize a movie you don’t even relate to on a cultural level. Moonlight takes the components of black struggles, black culture, black life, and puts it into a true cinematic experience. You don’t have to like the movie, but the movie itself is more about whether you “like it” or not. It’s whether you relate to it, whether you feel with it, and whether your experiences correlate with the character’s experiences. A “better plot” wouldn’t do shit Becky, you either get it or not. Not to mention Camilla Long was kissing La La Land’s ass:
So the point of this post isn’t to slander all white women and shame them. The point of this post to to show how frustrated black women are with white feminism. White women can be just as racist as white men, and they sure as hell benefit off that privilege. This is why a lot of black women these days kinda go side eyed when a white women says she’s a feminist. Are you a feminist for all women? Or are you a feminist for WHITE women. Please don’t call yourself a “advocate” for women if you’re gonna spend all this time bashing black women and other woc. Just say you hate black women and go.
IF YOU DONT FUCKING PREACH
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
White women are more insidious than white men when it comes to white supremacy because they have the added cloak of infantlization and fragility so they know they can do something obscenely racist and antiBlack and be protected by not only their whitness but their perceived softness and delicate nature (which is the biggest lie in the world) as well which makes them even more dangerous because they know that if they cry or complain they have an army of white men, women, and their cloak of weaponized white womanhood to hide behind. its gotten people killed, maimed, lynched, and exiled, they never give that up unless it benefits them in some way which is why they cling to it so tightly. Don’t buy into their bullshit though because they know exactly what their doing, always push back on that bullshit. Always.
So now we can’t point out racism among the whole white class (which includes women yes), without being misogynistic. Acknowledging that while the model for white femininity (still an archetype and not the mirror of white femininity if this concept has any sense) is in a sens more advantageous because it includes a racist promise of protection, it is still a way lock down white women under the protection of white men who exploit them.
I’m not advocating for a forced sorority here, but I’m seriously concerned about this curious need to put in the front misogynistic arguments when criticizing the active role of white women in the perpetration of racism. Saying white women are worse and more powerful than white men is misogyny, I’m horrified.
Take your false righteous indignation and shove it up your fucking ass. You’re not horrified your mad you cannot hide from a historical and current reality of your role in whiteness as a catalyst of pain.
“I’m horrified” no…let’s get it right: You’re a fucking child incapable of seeing the world being your limited and embarrassing worldview.
Be horrified at your damn self not me a Black woman making a truestatement of how white women emboldened by protectionism have gotten and still get Black people killed by lying. Be horrified at the families who had to cut their loved ones down from trees, dig them out from rivers, from fields. Be horrified at the ones who only had charred corpses to bring home. Be horrified that a white woman lives in hiding and was profiled in a soft way when her lies got a child killed & was only regretful decades later cause she knows she’s protected. Be horrified at yourself for demanding my anger as a Black woman make you not feel as guilty for your role in white supremacy. Be horrified you a racist who would rather baby white women then look at their role in whiteness because its uncomfortable. These are facts not misogyny, period and i resent you for even trying that bullshit with me. Fuck you. Be horrified at your damn self you fucking child.
She knows!
White female Trump supporters are the handmaidens of our sex’s continued oppression under the boot of the heteropatriarchy/male-supremacist hegemony and the white/Western-supremacist power structure. They were all too happy to sacrifice their civil rights as women– i.e.: reproductive rights, equal pay, equal opportunity with regards to employment, laws combating the rape culture and domestic violence, etc.– in favor of reaffirming the white-supremacist hegemony in both the U.S. government and Wall Street.
I noticed something very different today, as someone who’s regularly attended rallies and marches since the age 13.
White femininity’s perceived peacefulness is intrinsically linked to how the State views and treats nonwhite femininities and masculinities. It’s very interesting how a predominately white women march today received the least intervention and suspicion from state apparatuses like the police.
Identical political marches with identical demands for autonomy, dignity, mobility and reproductive justice (a political term coined by black women scholars) have been led by black women but the State response to such assemblages is starkly different. Much harsher. The level of scrutiny and penalty goes above and beyond that which predominantly white assemblages face.
So while, yes, there is strength in numbers and other pleasant axioms, there is also strength in rigorously questioning why you are not viewed as a threat, why your default status is not seen as a deviance from the norm, why you receive such kindness and others don’t.
I resent the white feminist embracing of the whole ‘nasty woman’ shit from Trump.
Black women are seen as ‘nasty’ automatically, and there’s nothing empowering or feminist about that for US. It’s a label we try to get away from, in all meanings of the word.
Our sexuality is seen as nasty, as taboo and transgressive, immediately tainting any not-Black person who dare enjoy it with us.
Our bodies are seen as nasty.
I curl my lip up in disgust at the hundreds of times I’ve seen white women not want to use the restroom stall I just came out of, willingly forfeiting their place in a long ass line to the woman behind them, cause the thought of sitting on a seat I merely hovered over is SO revolting.
Or the times white folks would rather stand and jostle on a crowded ass train than take the empty seat next to me, cause God forbid we accidentally touch!
We so nasty, yet Black women breastfed white folks babies and cleaned white folks houses for generations.
Our hair is seen as nasty.
When I had locs, white folks automatically assumed my hair was dirty. They think the same of my afro.
And our comportment in this white supremacist society, our general dispositions, are automatically seen as nasty.
I can’t tell you the number of people who assume I have a stank attitude because of what THEY project onto MY resting face.
So yeah, I resent that white women are wearing t-shirts talking about how ‘nasty’ they are.
But that’s white feminism for you.
Never intersectional, and completely without regard for the ALL WOMEN they claim to care so much about.
So I read this article, and you know what these two “feminist icons” are saying?
Women voting for Bernie Sanders need to “grow up”. It is “disappointing” that we aren’t voting for Hillary. They say that while Bernie Sanders talks about revolution, the TRUE revolution would be having a female president.
As a feminist, I think that’s bull.
Hilary is the stereotypical white feminist dream candidate. Bernie on the other hand has strong policies that focus on lifting up lower class citizens that have been pushed out of the shrinking middle-income-class, making health-care available to everyone who needs it, and addressing police brutality. Bernie is a feminist who has fought for the rights of women, people of color, and the LGBT+ community for the entirety of his career. Hilary follows the money.
I think telling women they HAVE to pick a candidate, JUST because she’s a woman is insulting. Having a woman president would be amazing, but I’d rather have one who can stand as an icon for all-inclusive feminism, and not just the kind big-money backers can get behind.
I’m a feminist, and I’m voting for Bernie Sanders.
Being a feminist doesn’t mean giving one woman power, it means voting for the one who will give power to all women.
Me: over this white-feminism-AA-cup-free-the tittie-nonsense smh talk to me when your D cup balls of fat radiate pain just from walking or driving over a speed bump good luck exercising ever smh don’t even get me started on the hypersexualization you face from strangers at the gas station when u just wanna pump gas safely or grocery shop normally or even walk around your house comfortably but you can’t cause your dad and brother are weird about your tits oh man what about wearing a too small sports bra so it flattens u out just so u can avoid invasive stares or look “presentable” (cause showing your tits even in a turtle neck is classless right) BURN MY ASS nipples aren’t free in the west and they won’t be not because we show them off but until we desexualize them and no we do not accomplish that by refusing to wear bras that displaces the blame yet again and YES this commentary was probably a reach but it’s a cute pic just it got 90k notes? smh not here for that or this bullshit neoliberal white feminist ideology goodBye that is All
^ the free the nipple thing really fails to account for ppl with big boobs, nipples bigger than a nickel, brown nipples, saggy boobs, boobs with stretch marks, etc.
