Same anon with the book character. Thank you so much for your quick response! She's most definitely more than her skin color, she has issues to develop out of and needs to be helped by her friends. She's not a token, either, her half brother (the main character) has a similar skin color to her. Also, something I should have explained in more detail is that skin color isn't quite a big deal in this world because everyone has wings. There are rivalries and prejudices based on those. No problem! Good to hear more details of your character. And I wasn't saying that skin color has to be a deal in the story itself, nor do all the Black/Brown people have to fit one stock color of brown as we have many undertones, shades and variety, like this array of lovely ladies below shows:
