People only like the idea of trickster spirits. "Oh, I could deal with them, easy." But once they meet one in person it's suddenly "wow, this guy sure is annoying."
My most basic advice on any part of spirit work is encompassed by something my first teacher said to me that I have since built my whole practice on, any one who has been around here a while may have heard me say it before: ‘Spirits are just folks.” This doesn’t mean they are human, never forget that they aren’t human, but it does mean that you should expect interacting with them to follow some of the same general rules interacting with a person follows. For instance: You don’t meet a new person and expect to know absolutely everything about them and trust them implicitly after getting coffee one time, don’t expect to know everything about a spirit and trust them implicitly after one divination session. If you would usually take several hangouts over several months to come to trust a person and call them your friend, give yourself and a new spirit the same latitude. You wouldn’t expect a human friend to only want what you want, and consider them dangerous for having wants and desires, of their own, but many people think that a spirit is dangerous if they have their own motivations separate from the human they work with.
The entire basis of my practice is treating spirits as individuals. I occasionally do contract work for the big name entities from the big pantheons, but I worship an unrecorded pantheon and outside of them my longest and closest relationships are with a Clan of the Fair Folk and small local spirits. I’ve never been very concerned with pinning a recorded name or “type” on an entity I’ve encountered. To me an entity is fully vetted when I know them the way I know a friend: when I know their personality, their preferences, their desires, when I can anticipate their actions in response to my own. I don’t care if the entity who showed up claiming to be Apollo really is Apollo, I care about knowing the entity as an individual. If it isn’t who it claimed to be I hope to make it feel comfortable enough with me to drop it’s pretext and be truly itself.
Now this is just my personal style. There are other methods and styles of spirit work that don’t care so much about the individuality of the entities that they engage with. They’re perfectly fine, and work out just as well for their practitioners, they just don’t sit well for me with how I was taught from a young age and how I have developed my practice since.
I think this is why I find ritual work so..... uncomfortable and stilted..... because while I do have reverence for the Otherworld (thus making offerings regularly) I would be SO EMBARRASSED AND UNCOMFORTABLE if everytime someone called me on the phone or invited me over they made a big grand flowery tadoo about it. This kind of interaction with the Otherworld only feels appropriate to me when the event matches the ceremony (like for a festival or many a personal dedication or AT MOST when you're asking for a REALLY BIG FAVOR like the kind of favor that you could never make an equivalent offering to so all the extra reverence is PART of what offering you can make for it)
Here's another~ I thought this would be a good thing for most death witches as it's a simple foundation layout. However you do you!

Let’s talk about •••
You’ve seen it around and decided you want to try your hand at Spirit Work or you have had encounters and would like to take back some control by deepening your knowledge of this practice. So:
I. Where to begin
• First Step
Ask yourself and define this: What do you want to work with? What do you classify as spirits?
Ancestors and Known Deceased
— These tend to be the easiest to communicate and connect with, due to your shared experiences and energies. In this type of Spirit work most people tend to utilize divinatory instruments or the astral.
Unknown Human Deceased
— Just like the first example, these also are somewhat accessible, since their plane tends to be parallel with ours. Normally it requires more steps of protection and precaution, since you don’t know the spirit's temperament nor it’s signature.
Nature Spirits: elements, plants, animals
— These are at the same time the most common and the most difficult type - common because people tend to, unknowingly, communicate with them all the time and due to that their presence is quite naturalized, making it tricky for some to actively seek them out. Each of the subcategories also have their own language and means of communication.
*I’ve added elements, because honestly, ask any nature or green witch out there, elements are also spirits and have their own language, messages and signature.
Nature Spirits a.k.a Entities: angels, fay, demon
— Ah, yes. The coveted and honored. These are easy to connect to, but also are easy to mess up with. Each subcategory of entity has its own subcategory, and in those the methods of communication and connecting vary a lot, but are heavily influenced by two aspects: Respect and also Trying not to mess up and unknowingly sell yourself.
Divine Spirits a.k.a Deities
— Divine Spirits and Deities are the most popularized, since many these days are visited and maintain a tight relationship with their deities. Each deity or divine spirit has its own specificities when it comes to communication and connection, not to mention the UPG’s and particular experiences of their followers, worshipers or workers.
Thoughtforms a.k.a Tar Spirits
— This is a topic to debate, as I’ve seen thoughtform being used in various themes with different connotations, but to specify, this one is related to what the web has been calling Tar Spirits. I, particularly, don’t communicate with them because their egregore and existence isn’t really one amenable to cleansing, enlightenment or anything - but there are people who claim they do so, these two have their own way of being handled when doing Spirit Work.
Those were only some (yes, only some!) generalize examples, each one has its own subcategory. So you see, deciding what you want to work with, first and foremost, is the first step to begin practicing Spirit Work. Also, nothing impedes you from broadening your range of work with time, as long as you have a clear intention as to who and what you’re working with.
• Second step:
With that done, you’re ready for the part that many dread and others adore - Research.
Yeah, yeah, I know. People in the community are already tired of seeing research be always recommended, as if it is implicit. But hey, doesn’t hurt to comment about it once again, because it is true.
This practice, as any other can be done through the empirical way, but will you really put, quite literally, your life at risk?
If the answer is no, then a way to prevent that is to research. Understand the details and methods of the target audience you’ll be working with so that you can prepare and protect yourself.
• Third step:
You defined your target audience, you researched, so much so that you’re confident in yourself and have a certainty that you’ll be safe. Now what? Practice!
Finally the time to start acting and testing all the theory you went through, so… how do you begin?
I’d suggest here beginning in controlled environments with controlled methods. Those, different from just wandering around on energetically charged places (like hospitals, cemeteries and so on) are the ideal to at least not be straight up traumatized in the beginning. So, choose your method of communicating - will you use divination, herbs, meditation, trance, the astral plane, channeling, psychography (the spiritual one, not the study method)?
Whichever method you choose make sure it’s one you're well versed in interpreting, so the chances of having your leg pulled are lesser.
So, do a checklist
Target audience ○
Study and Theory ○
Confidence ○
Preparation ○
Protection ○
Plan and Method ○
Plan B ○
Checked all of those? Then you’re ready to go.
Always make sure to tell a friend who knows what you're doing before, so they can also serve as a second pair of eyes if anything goes haywire.
II. Getting Better
Now, that’s a complicated topic. One because the answer, as you have probably guessed, is to practice. But other than that, when doing Spirit Work you have some… branches of possibility you may choose to follow.
One is to master one technique, applying yourself to the specific type of Spirit with one specific method. Another is to branch out, try as many different Spirits and methods as you want.
So yeah, pretty contradictory, though nothing impedes you from mastering something and then branching out after, just a thought.
III. Instruments
Most Spirit workers do their practices alongside instruments, that of course is not an obligation and it doesn’t mean that if you don’t have one of such you won’t be able to do Spirit Work - but I can not lie, having at least an aiding instrument helps a lot, specially so that you don’t use all your energy up, specially in the beginning of your practice.
Okay, so, these instruments will include herbs and such because they work as an aid during spirit working and also methods of communication, because these too are instruments. With that said, here we go, yeah?
Divinatory Methods: Cards, Runes, Charms, Seashell, etc.
— Used for communication.
Smoking Stick, Candles, Crystals or Incense
— Used for either channeling, warding or intensifying. Can also be used for inviting.
Rue Broom
— Used for cleansing the space before the Spirit work session and after to get rid of any lingering negative energies
Wands and Blades
— Used for directing and controlling energy
Tibetan Tingsha Bells
— Used for attracting and Inviting
Tibetan Bell and Dorjee
— Used for cleansing and passing on the Spirit.
Bones, Remains and Plants
— Used for channeling and Inviting.
Rope and Vessels
— Used for binding.

This is it, I’m happy I could approach this topic because it has been one that I’ve been wanting to breach for a while here on tumblr. The readings above are mostly easily accessible pdfs, so if you have time take a look at them, yeah?
Hope this somehow can help someone.

Thank you, Lou. This is a very thoughtful post.
My Death Witch/Spirit Worker Masterpost
Hey everyone! This is my list of resources I have made over the course of the existence of this blog, pertaining specifically to death witchcraft and spirit work. (EDIT: I also added divination because it is such a vital part of my own practice) I hope it helps some of you, and provides a resource for you to use! I’ve also thrown in my death work stuff as well. These posts are all mine, coming from separate blogs at times ( @shipping-the-gods , @the-daily-diviner, and @tarnished-headstone (@witchthatiam/@lonesome-bones are the names of this blog from a while ago)); none of these blogs are active. The only blogs I am active on are @shroud-of-roses and @breathing-in-gilded-dust (dodekatheism blog).
Please note you can do these three practices individually, I just choose to put them together for my own personal practice! Pick what you like and use it if you desire.
Thanks,
Olivia

My companions need constant attention wha-
Lol I do talk to my guardian spirit and sometimes others on the daily, but when I need a break, I do my best to make sure I get one.
Occult rule #1
Be nice, have some respect, give some offerings to other magicians, animals, deities, spirits, daemons, fae, you name it, because
1. If you are nice to them they are likely to give something nice in return.
2. You won’t get fucked up by them.
Working with Spirits
In my last post, I talked about different types of spirits that witches may work with. Today, we’re going to discuss how to approach spirits and establish a working relationship.
Keep in mind that these are general guidelines, and every spirit is different. I encourage you to do your own research beyond this post, especially if you plan to work with powerful entities like deities, angels, or fairies.
Remember the Four R’s
It’s important to keep these things in mind when working with spirits:
Respect. The spirits are powerful, and you need to have a healthy respect for that power when working with them. It’s also important to respect them as individual, autonomous beings.
I’m not saying that every interaction you have with the spirits needs to be a full blown ritual with incense and chanting. (In fact, some spirits don’t care for those types of rituals.) But every interaction you have with them should be conducted with an air of respect and reverence.
What this mostly boils down to is good manners. Being polite will get you better results — and it will also keep you from being on the receiving end of spirit mischief. Proper etiquette depends on the type of spirit you’re working with, which is one reason it’s important to do your research. In general, it’s polite to make an offering, use respectful language, and thank the spirits before you leave (unless you’re dealing with fairies — some traditions say you should never thank the fae).
Respecting spirits also means respecting their desires — even if that means respecting their wish not to work with you. Not every spirit you reach out to will want to form a relationship with you, just like not every person you meet in your life will want to be your friend. When a spirit turns you down, respect their decision, politely bid them farewell, and move on.
Reciprocity. The goal of spirit work is to establish a mutually-beneficial partnership — not for one partner to serve the other. On one hand, this means that you can’t just command spirits to do your bidding without giving anything in return. On the other hand, it also means that you won’t be worshiping/honoring them without receiving some kind of boon.
This is why it’s important to make offerings to the spirits you work with. These offerings “feed” the spirits by giving them power, and a good offering will likely make a spirit more willing to work with you. Offerings are not payment for favors from spirits (it’s not quite that simple), but they are a sign that you intent to practice reciprocity in your relationship.
In general, it’s important to make an offering when you first introduce yourself to a spirit and again before you ask them for anything. But you shouldn’t only make offerings when you’re about to ask for something! How would you feel if you had a friend who only did nice things for you when they were about to ask for a favor? You’d probably start avoiding them, right? You might even get angry. To avoid this kind of dynamic in your spirit work, make regular offerings to the spirits you work with. If you’re especially close with a spirit, you may want to offer to them every day.
Relationship. The spirits are not vending machines where you put offerings in and blessings fall out. They are living, sentient beings with feelings, and deserve to be treated as such. Your relationship with the spirits you choose to work with is just that: a relationship. And like any relationship, it requires time, energy, and emotional labor.
If that sounds like more effort than you want to make, there are plenty of ways to do magic without ever working with spirits. You don’t need to do spirit work to be a witch. It may not be your thing, and that’s okay!
But if you choose to work with spirits, it’s important to remember that you are working with them as an equal partner — you’re not their boss, and they are not obligated to like you, help you, or even tolerate you. Relationships with spirits are built over time, through mutual respect and trust.
You wouldn’t drive up to your friend’s house, throw a fast-food burger at them, and then demand a special favor. Likewise, you shouldn’t just dump an offering on your altar and demand something of the spirits. Take the time to sit down with them. Talk to them. Get to know them. Put some thought into your offerings, instead of just offering the same thing every time. Spirit work is, at its core, about building an authentic relationship with the spirits we choose to include in our practice. Enjoy it.
Research. When it comes to spirits, it’s important to know exactly who (and what) you’re dealing with. As previously mentioned, the etiquette for dealing with fairies is very different from other land spirits. Different deities have different standards for their worshipers, which vary from one pantheon to the next. The way you interact with your ancestors will probably be shaped by their personalities, cultures, and values. All this is to say it’s important to know who you’re reaching out to, preferably before you reach out to them.
With deities, this is easy. Most witches who choose to work with deities will feel drawn to a certain pantheon, or even a specific god or goddess. There’s a lot of information out there about most historical pantheons, so researching them is easy. The same goes for angels, saints, demons, and even fairies.
It can be a little more difficult to do your research when you’re dealing with land spirits, spirits of place, or other less well-known figures. In these cases, it’s best to take three steps: 1.) figure out what type of spirit you’re dealing with (land spirit, animal spirit, ancestor, etc.), 2.) find out what this type of spirit is like generally, and 3.) find out how that applies to your specific spirit.
For example: you want to connect with your local land spirits. You do some research to find out how land spirits have been treated in various cultures — you find out that they’re typically benevolent, are closely tied to the natural landscape, and were often given food offerings. Then, you do some research into your local plants and animals — what form might a nature spirit take in your local environment? Would it be a huge moose with snow-covered antlers, or a magnolia tree in full bloom? Is there any local folklore in your area that could be describing a land spirit? Once you have answers to these questions, you’ll have a much better idea of how to approach the spirits and start up a relationship.
Initiating a Relationship with a Spirit
Begin by identifying who this spirit is. For example, let’s say you choose to reach out to a specific ancestor spirit — maybe a deceased grandparent. Make sure you’re familiar with the etiquette for interacting with this type of spirit so you don’t accidentally do something disrespectful. (If your Grandma hated cussing, try not to drop any f-bombs while communing with her.)
Create a special space to communicate with the spirit. This can be as simple as lighting a candle or as elaborate as setting up a special altar. If you’re reaching out to a grandparent, you might set up a small ritual space with a photo of them, any of their belongings that you have access to, and some things that they enjoyed while they were alive. These items may make the connection easier, but you don’t need them to communicate. What matters is that you’ve taken the time to create a special space for this moment. (Like all ritual spaces, it should be clean and tidy, and it’s a good idea to do an energetic cleanse beforehand.)
Make an offering. Make sure your offering is appropriate for the spirit you’re connecting to. Offerings should be made with an air of reverence — don’t just toss a bag of Doritos on your altar and expect it to be well-received.
Introduce yourself. Speak out loud. State your intention and who you are hoping to connect with.
Wait and listen. You may feel a presence or receive some kind of sign — or you may not. Just because you didn’t get a sign doesn’t mean that your offering wasn’t noticed or that you’re being ignored. You may also receive a sign several hours, days, or weeks after you first reach out. Be patient.
Say your farewells. Express your gratitude for the spirit’s presence, and let them know that you are ending your little ritual. It’s up to you whether to invite them to stick around or politely tell them to leave, but if you’re going to give a spirit permission to linger in your home you better be 1000% sure you know who they are and what their intentions with you are.
Moving Forward
As you work with this spirit, it is important to establish clear boundaries for the relationship. Be clear about what you want to accomplish by working with them, and make sure you understand what they expect from you in return.
You might want to establish a time limit: for example, maybe you’re choosing to work closely with the goddess Brigid from Imbolc to Samhain, at which point you can choose to continue the relationship or to take a step back. Or, you may choose to work with a spirit on a specific task — for example, working with the goddess Aphrodite to get back on your feet and rebuild your self esteem after a breakup. Once this task is accomplished, you may choose to form a more long-term relationship or to take a step back.
Forming a permanent or long-term working relationship with a spirit is a very big, very serious commitment, and should not be taken lightly. This goes double for anything involving a ritual commitment, such as dedication to a deity. When you make these commitments, you are choosing to make a spirit and their energy a permanent part of your life. This decision requires some very serious introspection and consideration, and should not be made impulsively.

Marbas
One of the Goetic demons of Hell and a President (Praeses), under the command of Lucifer. This information was shared to me by him and is also my own experiences through working with this infernal deity.
History: As with all of the Goetic Demons, Marbas is an ancient god who joined Lucifer, the First God, in the war against the Usurper. He is very trusted by his King and Queen- Lucifer and Lilith, and is an outstanding teacher for his devotees.
Rulerships: counseling, settling disputes, demanding your rights in a courtroom, courage, friendly contests, sparring, fairness, justice, and competition.
Element: Fire
Colour: Orange-red
Appearance: In his humanoid-form, Marbas tends to have fiery blond (sort of auburn too), long hair like a mane, and commonly wears casual dark red clothing similar to those in Mexico or the Equator (loose fit but with large open neck). The more demonic form that he commonly chooses is that of a large lion with bat-wings, and has a proud, fierce countenance.
Personality: Marbas has a charming and dominant personality; he’s very generous and likes to help teach others on how to better themselves. He favors everything to do with making things apparent and how to succeed in endeavors (such as a project or a business). He’s fiercely protective regarding who he loves, and he’s very loyal to friends.
Marbas values honesty and is exceptionally truthful, sometimes brutally truthful to help one change from bad habits or ignorance. He has been a staunch defender of the innocent and of the more disadvantaged. He envisions a society with equal rights for all, and where love and honesty prevail. His voice is thunderous and he has a jovial manner, although he can turn quite menacing when there’s actual threat, or in the presence of arrogant people.
How to call him: Speak to Marbas as you would with any other god, be polite and considerate. Contact him through telepathically speaking in your mind, directing the words to him (you can do this verbally, but if malicious spirits hear, they may pretend to be him). Try to dress formally for any of the Goetia, for they are divine and royalty.
What he can do: Marbas can assist with legal affairs, justified revenge, protection, courage, eradicating ignorance, settling arguments, gaining loyal friendships, success in projects/business, perseverance, and becoming responsible.
Offerings:
Burnt offerings, whiskey, Caribbean foods, red curry, red spicy peppers, chicory leaves on charcoal, spiky thorn bush, dried sea-shells (the elongated spiral ones), dried oranges, sun-dried tomatoes, carnelian, and fire opal. Incense of cedar with grape and walnut, with olibanum.
I was too tired to mention this last night, but a brown moth flew into my room after I did a ritual to consecrate a new pentacle as a talisman specifically for spirit/death work and journeying. If that’s not symbolic...
Y’all...sometimes...
Sometimes it takes a minute for things to click on my head.

💀 Offering Oil For The Dead 💀
Here’s a oil that I made in honor of Thanatos (also props to him for giving me this advice to fill my skull dropper!) This oil is to be used as a offering to Chthonic deities and spirits. You can anoint a candle when working as well as this oil is suppose to have a soothing feel to it for comforting!
What you’ll need: A Carrier oil (I would recommend olive oil but I’ll be using Vitamin E oil), Lavender (essential oil or the herb it self), Rose petals/buds, Myrrh (since this works well for Hades and Thanatos I’ve heard and can be either essential oil or the ashes from incense)
Optional things you can add: Poppy seeds, a bone, graveyard dirt, something dead, a quartz crystal, Selenite crystal, Willow bark or leaf (this aids with safe passing in the afterlife and is also good for protection against negativity and evil).
Directions: (usually when I’m making an oil or potion I light candles and burn incense, along with playing soothing/fitting music. Just a quick note!)
Cleanse the bottle first ( I did so with my juniper smudge wand). Add each item into your bottle, making SURE your adding your intent. (Lavender for peace, Rose for remembrance, Myrrh for troubled souls and can help with protection.) When adding a bone or something dead make sure to thank the spirit to the item. And your done!
NOTE: If you do not want to use oil you can use water for this! You can always modify this as well :)
Energy parasites: Leeches
Energy parasites are nasty little beings that infest anywhere a lot of energy passes through. This could be the places you practice your craft, do energy work or magic, or anywhere lots of people pass through, and even inside your energy body.
There are many different varieties of energy parasites that work differently. The shared qualities among all energy parasites I’ve encountered is that they are excellent at energy work, they breed through asexual reproduction, and they are all sustained by feeding o the energies of other beings.
Energy Leeches:
I’ve encountered more energy leeches than any other type of parasite. They are everywhere, constantly feeding on the energy we exude as we move through our daily lives. Most leeches are very small and stick to high traffic areas like subways, busy streets, and packed buildings.
If you practice any type of magick or psychic arts you are likely to attract energy leeches to where ever you are working/practicing. These types of activities create a lot of energy for a leech to feed on, and if it can get enough energy, it will grow and become a larger issue.
I use to do all my rituals, spells, and energy work practice in my room so this lead to my space having a lot of built energy that I was lazy about clearing out. After about a month, I noticed things were becoming much less effective and the energy in my space was very slow. It was then, when I went out of body, that I noticed a giant energy leech on the wall of my room. It started out a tiny little thing, but since I kept filling my room with energy it grew until it needed to suck it straight from my workings to be satisfied.
You don’t want to get a leech get that big in your space. It took far too long to get rid of, and I had to wait until the sucker was gone before I could do anything high-energy in my room.
If you go out of body, specifically on the astral and other places from there, you are likely to eventually bring home an energy leech with you. It’ll likely be a tiny one who lodges their way into your energy body and hides tightly between the energy pathways/veins or right on an energy center. If you are lucky, it’ll be so hungry you feel it start to suck up your energy.
More often though, they like to stay dormant and only take what they need until your energy body is weakened for some other reason. They see this weakened state as a cover for them to go to town on your energy systems. So as you’re dealing with the issue that is causing you to be in a weakened state (such as being sick, clogs/blockages in your energy body, ect) they are sucking you dry so you have a harder time healing and don’t know they are there.
Energy leeches are not just a problem for anyone working with foreign energies. I’ve known people who are extremely mundane who have had big leeches inside them feeding for what must have been a while. One person was a swim instructor where I work. When sitting there bored at work I was scanning people’s energies and I noticed a foreign body insider her. Upon further inspection I learned it was a big leech. So big in fact that she likely passed on a few baby leeches onto others given the size of the one inside her energy body.
Noticing energy leeches:
Skilled spirit workers and healers are likely able to help identify an energy parasite like a leech, but if you are sensitive to energies it’s something you can learn to do too. You need know how your energy body works in it’s natural resting state and what that feels like before you can try looking for leeches in your system. This will take some time, but it’s a very important thing to know for any energy worker/witch/spirit worker. When you know what your energy body’s resting state is like you can go through your body bit by bit checking your energy centers and pathways for any abnormalities, in this case specifically looking for leeches latching onto and draining energy.
It will often look like a serpent-like creature with no eyes. If it’s from our plane/world it will often have a small mouth with teeth, but leeches from other planes that you pick up while astral traveling more commonly have an energy center from which they drain your energy, instead of a mouth (though this will depend on where you are traveling).
Energy leeches have a tight and dense energy. Their energy alignment will depend heavily on where they are from, but leeches from our plane tend to be aligned to elemental energies, most common being Earth energy. Energy leeches most often have three dominant energies in their system, the only shared energy I’ve noticed between all leeches is Void energy. I suspect this is is what makes them very good at taking in and neutralizing most energies into their system. Since Void energy in my experience moving through Void energy can act like a going through corrosive filter for non-Void energies.
Their energy bodies are almost entirely made of energy pathways with a few energy centers (1-3). Larger leeches might grow more centers to have a larger surface area for absorption. For having such simple systems, they are extremely skilled at energy work. They are experts at camouflaging themselves and changing the flow of energy. This makes them very good at making themselves almost invisible if you don’t know what you’re looking for. They can make a blockage form in your system and drain the pooling energy from that side by shifting the flow of your pathways to draw it in. So if you keep fixing problems in your system and more keep coming, you might have an energy leech.
Removing energy leeches:
A single energy leech can do a lot of damage to a person’s system. It’s best to remove the leech from your body before you work on the damage it causes. There are dozens of ways to deal with energy parasites, but I’m just going to cover a few methods of removing them through energy work/healing.
Reiki is a great tool for removing energy parasites. It floods your system with healing/life energy, making your energy body a very hostile environment for low-vibration energies and beings. The only draw back is that reiki is a very passive healing method so it will often take a lot of time to flush out a leech if it had grown a lot.
Any type of high-vibrational healing is good for getting rid of small leeches. Crystal that have been charged are excellent for this. If you have a leech in your room a tight crystal grid can do the job. You just want to make sure the grid doesn’t give off too much excess energy because the leech will just snack on it. I would recommend using clear quartz, rose quart, citrine, and fluorite. Smoking cleansing and singing bowls are also good methods of removing energy leeches from a psychical space.
Asking the spirits with whom you work (if you work with any) to remove an energy leech is a good idea too. Most spirits skilled in energy work can see parasites in your systems right away and know just how to remove them. Do not trust unfamiliar spirits with such a task, that is how you end up getting energy parasites.
If the leech(es) inside you aren’t too big, you might be able to just starve it out. This would mean you would have to go inside your energy body and cut off energy flow to it in the hopes it shrinks down to making removing it easier. This only works if it’s on an energy pathway and you know how to cut off that pathways flow and how to pull the leech out.
The best way to deal with leeches in my experience is through psychic surgery. If you know a healer or spirit who can preform psychic surgery, they are your best bet to handle it’s removal.
Removing a leech can be a very unpleasant experience. I would not recommend doing it yourself unless you have advanced knowledge of how our energy body works. I’m going to share one of my methods of energy leech removal that don’t involve psychic surgery for those who want to learn how.
AstralCatalyst’s energy leech removal method:
To start you need to figure out where exactly the leech is in the individuals energy body. Do a scan of the whole body for any abnormalities or damages. Go through each system until you find the leech.
If it’s on an energy pathway:
- If the leech is on a pathway you will need to temporally cut off energy to where the leech is by rerouting the energy on the pathway to others. Do this by taking another energy vein and making a small bridge between them by pushing the energy from the leech vein to the healthy vein. You will notice that eventually it will take less work to move the energy from one pathway to the other, this is when you can stop.
- The leech will soon no longer have any energy coming down the vein for it to feed on. Move your hands down to where the leech is in the person’s body and start pushing some high-vibrational energy between the leech and the vein. DO NOT PUSH ENERGY DOWN THE VEIN. PUSH IT BETWEEN THE VEIN AND THE LEECH. This energy passing by will draw the leech’s attention off the vein since it’s no longer receiving energy from it and hopefully loosen the leech’s grasp on the vein.
- Now carefully grab a hold of the leech in a manner that keeps your hands away from it’s energy centers and pull it off the pathway. It might hold on very tightly so pull had hard as you need too. The removal process might cause a tightening, tense, or pulling sensation in the individual being worked on.
- Repeat until all leeches are out of your system.
- Then work on healing and fixing the flow of the energy in your body. This can be a lengthy process of redirecting energy and fixing any tears, blockages, and overworked pathways. If you removed the leeches without cutting off energy flow to it you are likely to be hemorrhaging energy, and the tears in your system will be harder to patch up and heal.
If it’s on an energy center:
- If a leech has warped it’s self around one of your bodies energy centers removing it becomes a much harder process on the body. This means the leach has be depriving your system of energy it needs so you don’t have a healthy system to properly fight it. You will need to redirect all the energy in your body around this center. Which means changing the entire way your energy centers flow temporarily and cutting this center off from all of the others in your body.
- Once you have the leech affected center isolated watch what the leech does. Sometimes, completely isolating the center is enough to drive a leech to just let go since it’s so use to being constantly fed by the energy center. If it doesn’t let go you need to be extra careful about removing it from the energy center. Any damage to an energy center, damages the way your body takes in energy, and it is often permanent due to how slowly energy centers heal.
- If the leech does not let go on it’s own, you will need to flood the leech with opposing energies to it’s natural energy alignment. This means you will need to have scanned the leeches system beforehand, or you have to do it now. If the leech is well warded/protected, using healing/high-vibrational/reiki/life energy is a safe bet for weakening it since energy leeches seem to be somewhat void aligned. Some leeches have very little void energy to them though, so life/healing energy is not necessarily always going to work every time. Drown the leech in opposing energies to it’s natural energy alignment until it lets go. Sometimes, with larger leeches you might have to do the do this several times overall a few sessions until it shrinks down small enough to pluck off or until it falls off.
- When the leech has fallen off you can grab it carefully to avoid touching it’s energy centers and pull it out of the individual’s body. If the leech just won’t let go of the center after 2-3 sessions, go through this processes again isolating and drowning it until it’s lose and then pull it off the energy center. Make sure to tend to any damage to the center right away with energy that matches it’s function.
- Once you have removed the leeches or have finished this session fix the flow of energy in their body and tend to any damages caused by the leech. In this case you will likely need to give the body back the energy the leech has been taking from it. Send a strong current of energy through the whole system letting it get it’s fill so it can heal. If you are finishing a session without removing a leech, connect the paths in a manner that gives that energy center enough energy to remain functional while depriving the leech of the ability to drain from other energy centers. Meaning, hook paths up to the center but do not have any pathways moving directly between the healthy centers and the leech affected one(s).
Once all the leeches have been removed from the host body, the best way to dispose of them is to feed them to some larger entity/spirit. If this isn’t an option release it outside your space. You can also save leeches to be used in spells, curses/baneful magick, and in energy work.
So recently, like a couple of days ago, I did some spirit work and connected with some ancestors on my mother’s mother’s mother’s side, which is Jamaican (and something else I’m not sure yet). I discovered there’s something deeper on that side that was, and this is just a guess from the energy that I felt, christianized/westernized and they’re disappointed about it because it caused a major disconnection culturally and spiritually. My ancestors asked me to reconnect with that side and understand the truth of what happened. It’s been itching at me, but I don’t really know where to start. In the past, I used ancestry.com and it was really difficult to find more connections to that side of the family.
Are there other resources that investigate ancestry? I know I need to do this, but I’m not sure what to do next. I’ll still use the resources I have, but there’s gotta be more.
Spirit Guides In Death Magic
I’m not fond of the term “spirit guides” because it implies some special status that every magician needs. Depending on how you define the term “guide,” every spirit can guide you in some way. Here, I define a spirit guide as a soul who can lead you to answers, messages, or pathways you were previously unable to reach. Although some people assume that they can only have one spirit guide, rest assured that most spirit workers contact multiple. Here’s how spirit guides help you in death witchcraft. Although spirit guides are often over-emphasized in generic spirit work books, they’re frequently overlooked in necromancy. In death magic, spirit guides can lead you to the afterlife, connect you to other souls, and deliver messages from other entities. They may aid you in certain divination techniques such as scrying, or they may appear in your dreams to point you in the right direction. Finding your spirit guides takes time. Although many authors write rituals to summon your spirit guide, I personally don’t like these. I think that calling out “who’s my spirit guide?” to the void is a perfect opportunity for spirits to take advantage of people, especially new practitioners. Don’t force it. Guides always come as you expand your craft. If you are interested in death witchcraft or necromancy, start how most of us did: by contacting souls through divination, graveyard dirt, or bones. Over time, you’ll find a soul who is willing (often eager) to show you secrets and paths you never dreamed of. You don’t require a spirit guide to practice; you just need yourself. How do you know if a spirit is your guide? Figure it out yourself. Is the entity reliable? Have they answered your questions correctly? (Asking them something you already know is a good way to verify divination.) Do you have good reason to trust them? Have you worked with them before? Often, a spirit becomes your guide before you even think to apply the label. As with all things spirit work, let this happen organically. Your death will flourish from it.
