Houses 🕰

There are 12 houses. The rotation is counterclockwise. Each house has different traits and meanings. When you do a natal chart it tells you which sign and planet you’re in but you also need to know which house it’s in. That’s extremely important.

Example:

My Sun is in: Sagittarius 5th house

My Ascendent is in: Leo 1st house

My Moon is in: Pisces 8th house

The first six houses are “personal houses.” While the last six are “interpersonal houses.”

Things to remember:

Your sun is the basic you (about yourself)

Your moon is the inner you (your heart)

Your rising is the outer you (the “mask” you put on, how people see you)

The first house is where you will find your rising sign. The rising sign is also known as the ascendent.

1st House: House of Self

(Ruled by Aries ♈️ and Mars)

This house is located on the left, east side of the chart. It’s cusp is called the ascendent of the natal chart. The word first represents a start of things, as in new beginnings, first impressions, and new projects. The first house also rules early childhood. This creates the sense of how you will develop your mind, body, and behavior. Natal planets in the first house hold strong personality traits and huge influence.

This house is all about communication, communities, and transportation. From this house they are to learn intellectual information, personal ideas, and short journeys. Rather their information is communicated by being spoken aloud or written down they are to share that information with others. The ones from this house are motivated by sibilings, neighbors, co-workers, and friends.

4th house: House of Home

This house sits at the very bottom of the zodiac wheel. This being at the base respresents it being the foundation of things. This includes home, security, and privacy. When we think about home we think about where we come from and what makes us comfortable. When you think of home you may even think of parents. In the 4th house it’s about the motherly role. How mothers nurture us, our roots, and care.

5th house: House of creativity

The fifth house is ruled by entertainment that brings joy into your life. Due to the fifth house being ruled by the Leo and the planet being the sun it can be full of dramatic and dynamic energy. This house is full of attention. This house also includes romance, personal pleasure, and self-satisfaction. Those can lead to children and procreation. Children are full of creative spirit. This house is full of arts including dancing, singing, drawing, writing, and other artistic talents.

This house is at the very top. They do well with creating structures, boundaries, and self discipline. They are the corporation sense of the houses due to their tradition and hard work. They have good networking skills as well as a strong sense of rebellion. They are full of originality and art.

12th house: Self-undoing

This is the final house. The final house rules endings, afterlife, old age, and wisdom. This house is great with creativity and imagination. They refer to the unconscious and things beyond the physical touch and thought. They are full of psychic and spiritual abilities. They sacrifice their service and time into helping others.

Natal Chart ~ Interpretation

First, know your Ascendant point. Degree and minute. Yes, it is that important. In predictive astrology each degree can translate to a year of life, so it makes quite a difference when we read your chart ~ will something happen to you in a year, seven years, or sixteen? 

Second, take a look at the first house and the ruler of your Ascendant ~ where is this planet, in what state it is, what kind of aspects does it make…? This is the ruler of your chart, planet/actor that plays YOU in this story.

Third, make a thorough assessment of houses and elements. Which element is dominant in your chart? In what state are the fire, earth, air, water, cardinal houses? Is something enhanced, underdeveloped or unbalanced..? Too much of a single element can make problems same as not enough of it.

Fourth, add signs to it. Remember (or learn), what each sign represents, which archetypal story lies behind it, what ‘need’ is to be fulfilled with this sign, and what area of your chart it occupies?

At the end, look at the planets. These are your actors. With their aspects, they will tell you a story. But before you even start, you need to set up a stage, you have to understand the context, space & time in which everything is happening, their language, motivation, situation itself… that is WHY we have to take everything into account. Houses, points, signs, elements EXACTLY as they are.

Astrology has earned its bad reputation mainly thanks to superficial understanding of it.. only looking at the Sun sign, only telling one side of the story, only looking at planets in signs and overlooking aspects, houses, degrees, dignities, rulerships & so on… Let’s return astrology to the place it deserves.
