I am normally very private with altars and such. I feel somewhat compelled however to share this one.

This is my altar. It’s on the top of my desk and I have to stand on my chair to reach it every morning lol but it’s worth it. It’s important to take a moment to tap into your power and commune with your guides, spirits, deities, or even your inner or higher self to start the day. I think no matter what your belief is, it’s a good habit to have. Similar to grounding yourself, it’s just an awesome reminder to believe in yourself. You are here. You are enough. You can do it. #altarspace #altar #witch #spirituality #meditation #divination #spiritwork #deitywork #higherself #ascension #selflove #candles #pentacle #tarot #runes #crystals #crystalball https://www.instagram.com/p/BvpECaPHPyo/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=2p2n6e6nxfep

So, as long as I am in this mood of explaining the reasoning behind why I named some scents the way I did, I may as well continue with Heresy. What is heresy? What does it mean to be a heretic? I believe that in general, historically but in a different sense today, it means to be non-conform. To go ones own way. To be different. Unexpected. In history, heresy was to step outside the prescribed spiritual path, today it can be wanting a traditional nuclear family, not having a “proper” job, having different diet preferences, not having a cell phone or a TV, living off the grid, practicing magic or being religious. Wanting “other” things. Being different. We try so hard to fit in to hide the parts of us that we deem unsightly or weird, that we very often become only shells. But the world is full of individuals. Humanity is not a hive of uniform beings, “society” is not a different way of saying “homogeneous”. We are only same in that we are all unique, in one way or the other. So why should it be heretical to embrace that difference, uniqueness and nurture it, grow it, embrace it. Be a painter, a dog whisperer, a cat cuddler, a ceremonial magician or a lawyer. If you want to become anything, even a fire hydrant, go, and figure out a way to make that happen! What is the heresy? Squelching that personality, talent, need or desire and trying to be “same” in the sea of difference. Follow your bliss.
Beautifully said.
found the perfect piece to ground and protect my altar, a black tourmaline sphere flaked with chrysocolla (can you find it?) 🌑💫
