Researching one of my favorite topics: divination. This article will take a while, but it’ll be worth it. I’m hoping I can contribute to exposing the stigma around divination so those who are attuned to this ability don’t spend their lives thinking something is wrong with them. I also want to be as objective as possible by considering the historical, religious, psychological, philosophical, and scientific views of the divinatory arts, because those of us in the #divinationcommunity know there’s plenty of misinformation and con artists out there who’ve only made things worse and we need to be real about that lol. What is your preferred type of divination? And do you have any book/research recommendations? #occultresearch #divination #spirituality #culture #religion #spirituality #mystic #witch #tradition #shaman #animism #psychic #intuition https://www.instagram.com/p/CDo6KNZHiAn/?igshid=1116p2d8it6b2
I was too tired to mention this last night, but a brown moth flew into my room after I did a ritual to consecrate a new pentacle as a talisman specifically for spirit/death work and journeying. If that’s not symbolic...
Can I just say something real quick?
What Christians call psychic terms because some are afraid to use the word “psychic” or “witch”:
- The gift of knowing is claircognizance
- The gift of prophecy/dreams is clairvoyance and/or lucid dreaming
- The gift of discernment is clairsentience
- The gift of hearing god’s voice directly or hearing angels/demons or whatever is clairaudience (this can be considered part of the gift of prophecy too)
- Having all or multiple of these make you a prophet aka a shaman, a medium, a mystic, and/or a psychic
I mean, I don’t know if anyone else grew up with parents that didn’t like the word “psychic” because it’s “too occult” so they called them gifts instead, which is fine lol I don’t care, but I just wanted to say that it doesn’t have a different function just because it has a different name.
What a lot of Christians believed thanks to the “Satanic Panic” and other misconceptions in media make those of us who have these abilities super confused sometimes. I know I was when I was a kid, but thankfully I’m a 90s kid and the internet taught me a lot lol.
Hope the article helps anyone who needs it.
African Indigenous Wisdom- Balance Between The Light and Dark With Us
The Christians have told us that God created the soul, but our belief in Africa is a little different from this. We believe that the soul is in fact an integral part of God and that our souls came into being when God created himself. We exist because God exists, and our souls are fragments of this Universal self.
There are two “souls” in a human being, the ena and the moya. The moya we depict as a globe or sphere of perfect transparency, which in its disembodied form may fly or float through the air. We say that females souls have transparent wings, like those of a mosquito, while males float, but without wings. Inside each sphere, male or female, are two worm-like creatures, perfectly visible; one is blue in color and the other red; they move around and dance with each other and struggle with each other and are never quiet. We say that these worm-like creatures represent the good and the evil inside a person. The red worm symbolizes all the bad things in a man or a woman - a warped sense of morality, low cunning, dishonesty, cruelty, pride, cowardice, perversity. The blue worm stands for all the good in a person - morality, charity, compassion, selflessness, courage, honesty.
The soul is thus always in balance between good and evil, life and death. A combination of good and evil, equally balanced, is essential. For all souls that exists, neither perfect goodness nor badness can prevail or the soul will find a premature demise. It would be out of balance. That is why some people who are very good die prematurely; the contest is already over, the worms have settled the conflict. In other cases the worms quarrel ceaselessly, and for example if the red worm dominates, the person can develop an evil disposition and begin to do nasty things, abuse people, even steal or murder. If the blue worm is victorious, the person expresses nothing but virtue and becomes almost too good to live on this Earth. This is the lore of the moya.

“Oshun (known as Ochún or Oxúm in Latin America) also spelled Ọṣun, is an orisha, a spirit, a deity, or a goddess that reflects one of the manifestations of God in the Ifá and Yoruba religions. She is one of the most popular and venerated orishas. Oshun is the deity of the river and fresh water, luxury and pleasure, sexuality and fertility, and beauty and love.[1][2] She is connected to destiny and divination.[3]
During the life of the mortal Oshun, she served as queen consort to King Shango of Oyo. Following her posthumous deification, she was admitted to the Yoruba pantheon as an aspect of a primordial divinity of the same name.
She is the patron saint of the Osun River in Nigeria, which bears her name. The river has its source in Ekiti State, in the west of Nigeria, and passes through the city of Oshogbo, where Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove, the principal sanctuary of the deity, is located…” - Wiki
Stones for Witchcraft~
Sure, everybody says you should start out with quartz, rose quartz, amethyst, citrine but what about for witchcraft and magic specifically. What stone carries the witchy soul? I will be listing some stones perfect for use in magick to aid and strengthen you. You probably guessed the first one ;D
1. Labradorite
The Inuit people believe that Labradorite fell from the Aurora Borealis. Another legend claims that a warrior struck the stone with his spear creating the Northern Lights as a result.
This is a stone of magick, it is a stone for shamans, diviners, healers and people seeking knowledge or looking for guidance. Perfect for honing in your strength and power as a witch. Labradorite helps awaken physic abilities, strengthen intuition and create awareness. If you wear labradorite, it will help your innate magickal abilities rise to the surface.
This stone is the most protective stone you can get. It shields the aura and strengthens the energy within. It guards against negativity. Due to this, it is a difficult stone to use in black or negative magicks. Some say it is impossible. Because of it’s protective and shielding quality it is perfect to use when exploring alternate levels of consciousness and doing visionary explorations. This stone will keep you safe from all harm.
Labradorite is good for seeing past illusion and into the truth.
2. Dendritic Agate AKA Merlinite
Do not mistake with Mystic Merlinite. This is not the same.
This is another stone of pure magic! It is a stone of duality, of light and dark, black and white. It is the stone of good luck and the dark night of the soul.
It is said to be able to help the user recall memories of alchemists and even the great Merlin of Arthurian times (thus its name).
This stone attracts good luck and magick into the life of one who carries it. This stone is good for shadow work, allowing you to travel and see the deep dark parts of yourself. Merlinite, is a very shamanistic stone, aiding you to commune with the natural world and elementals and work with its energies.
It stimulates deep intuition and a psychic knowing. It helps to bring you in contact with teachers in other realms.
A stone of harmony it helps aid the birth of creativity. This stone is not only for the light aspects as it will allow you to see the reality of your own inner darkness.
Use this to bring balance to light and dark, masculine and feminine. Use it to balance any kind of duality.
3. Moqui Marbles AKA Boji Stones AKA Shaman Stone
“Moqui” is the Hopi word for the dead. They say that the dead come around sunset to play with these stones.
This stone is believed to carry two genders, like animals and people. The flatter more oval ones are said to be male while the rounder ones are female. They are often used as pairs. They bring balance to the masculine and feminine energies inside all of us.
Use for inner transformational work. Use them for protection during journeying and out of body travel. These stones prevent negative entities from attaching to you.
These stones are perfect for overcoming fears of any kind, especially death.
They elevate your intuition and help you come in contact and communicate with spirit guides and totems.
Moqui Marbles also help you to become aware of parts of yourself that may be hidden including tendencies or habits that come from past lives.
4. Nuummite
Nuummite is know as the sorcerer’s stone as it is a stone of sorcery and magick. It draws and combines the fiery energies of the earth with the energies of a raging storm.
Nuummite is the oldest stone on earth; it is approximately over 3 billion years old and has volcanic origins.
This stone is good for personal magick, increasing synchronicities and luck, clairvoyance and intuition. Nuummite allows for deep journeying into your psyche allowing you to see your true, authentic self- the good and the bad, the whole of you. This stone will bring you gifts of inner power and self mastery.
A great stone for grounding and highly protective, it shields the auric field and fiercely fends off against negativity, manipulation, and environmental pollutants.
Nuummite heavily draws from wild earth energies.
Be careful. This stone has intense energy and may be too much for some to work with. Nuummite is a strong magick stone and should be taken seriously and treated respectfully. Use with good intent as harmful intent rebounds on the user.
5. Hag Stones
These stones you can find around lakes, rivers, and creeks. They are natural stones with a naturally-forming hole (or holes) straight through.
Hag stones are believed to ward against evil, negativity, curses, illness and nightmares.
The holes inside the stones are used to look through and are said to help you see other worlds, spirits, and even fairies.
Hag stones can be used to enhance the magick abilities of anyone who uses it or keeps one on them. If you cannot afford any stone at this time, look for hag stones outside. They are powerful and have been held as sacred to many ancient Pagan religions for thousands of years.
Day 27: What am I afraid people will learn about me? Card: Calling the Storm - Oh my goodness...this card keeps coming up...this deck doesn’t hold back... I know why this appeared again, because deep down I know that the more I embrace who I really am, the more people I’ll lose. The closest people in my life will never accept who I am as a shaman, witch, mystic... and...yeah that fucking hurts, but it’s the story of my life tbh. #octobertarot2019 #octobertarotchallenge #shaman #witch #mystic #psychic #loss #sacrifice. https://www.instagram.com/p/B4Sdr2KncJP/?igshid=xw38k4wlg848
Day 17: What am I afraid will happen? Card: Calling the Storm - Embracing the path of a shaman was hard for me, at first. It was one of my earlier synchronicities when I started journeying, practicing witchcraft, etc. and I had a gut feeling it would be a powerful transformation where my relationships would change, the way I saw the world would change, and the power I had within me would change so it could finally be released. I overthink my transformations before accepting them to be a journey into the unknown, as if it will become an overwhelming experience that could kill me, but why would it even be presented in the first place if I couldn’t handle it? Death, in her many forms, is inevitable. That’s why us shamans, witches, and the like bond with her. She teaches us to love our power rather than fear it. #octobertarot2019 #darkmirror #oraclecards #fear #storm #change #death #shaman #witch https://www.instagram.com/p/B4ISczVH0bN/?igshid=1m3sx64tweemw
“Plutocratic capitalism, a pillar of the current status quo in the U.S.A., operates like a religion based on the worship of an omnipotent Money-deity, and the maintenance of a hierarchical caste system that glorifies wealthy White cisgender-heterosexual men (the highest caste and favorite of the deity), and bestows privileges on them at the expense of all other (lower) castes. In this religion, the highest blessings come in the form of power, privilege and money, and common curses are largely dispensed through disempowerment, underprivilege and impoverishment.
I suggest we stop feeding the Money-deity with our attitudes, words and behaviors, and we bind it (limit the scope of its influence on our society). This may require that we transform the dominant worldview into one where mutual respect, cooperation, community and interconnectedness become foundational values in our way of life, and the concentration of power, privilege and money in the hands of one or more high castes at the expense of the dignity and lives of others is considered socially unhealthy, and is prevented through appropriate systems and structures.”
This is a long read, but a damn good one. Anyone who has sensed and witnessed the cruelty of capitalism should read this. The author’s perspective is on point, to me.
