So TIL that the Tetris theme (aka Type A) is based off the Russian folk song “Korobeiniki”

and it’s very important you hear how it sounds with an orchestra, choir, and extraordinary sopranos.

I wouldn’t have even found this if I didn’t mistake the game’s theme to be based off Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 (D minor) by Liszt in some places. It kept bothering me while I was working and I’m so glad I was wrong lol

You are learning Latin past midnight in the glow of nothing but your table-lamp, Claude Debussy playing in the background. A cup of coffee, half drunk, sits forgotten on your table because you are so engrossed in the Latin phrases. Your hair is kept away from your eyes with a ribbon and your hands are stained with the ink of your fountain pen.

At first glance, it made me want to throw up, but when I realized it could be plausible to try if I break down each revolution into HORIZONTAL staffs, I wanted to throw up again because the time signatures change mid-revolution sometimes and these key changes???? I mean maybe? Idk. I haven’t even got out of bed and looking at this made my piano cry.

This would probably make more sense if I was on acid because I’m not fantastic at music theory, but I hope the music theory side of tumblr responds.

This one truly resonates with my soul. Enjoy. L.

A great use of the dark academia method for dealing with belligerent and ignorant professors who won’t listen to student feedback is continuing your studies with moody or aggressive classical music in the background and accept your academic superiority complex without shame.

Yes, I said it. You’re more insightful than them and you know it. You will surpass them. If you’re planning to be a professor, they will surpass you too. If that bothers you, are you sure you’re in the right field? Food for thought.

Really good news! I found out yesterday that I got joint highest first year marks on my course this year! It feels a little redundant because lots of the assessments were cancelled in the end (and I don’t think I’d have scored as highly on them), but I’m so pleased nonetheless.

These are all old photos from throughout the past academic year - thought they’d fit nicely together ☺️

Elfrida Andrée (Feb. 19,1841 - 1929 ) was a Swedish organist and composer - a pioneer among women in Swedish classical music. She became the first woman organist in a major Swedish cathedral, put on 800 concerts for primarily working class audiences in Gothenburg (many of which she conducted), and she composed numerous works for a cappella choir, organ, and vocal pieces - in addition to 2 symphonies. She was also the first female telegraph operator in Sweden!
