chuck palahniuk is the author of FIght Club, his writing is very anti-government in a sense. it focuses a lot on societal problems and downfalls. for instance invisible monsters without giving too much away is about a girl who was a very prominent model but her face was terribly disfigured in a car accident and it's basically her life afterwards with a lot of drug use and the crazy shenanigans that happens. very emotionally charged.

this is really lame, but I fight club is one of my fave movies and it was based on a book, but didn't know who the author was :3but that storyline sounds fantastic ♥ I love stuff like that and sifi/horror/mystery

Hello darling, I would recommend the Philip Pullman series, His Dark Materials, and also anything by Walter Moers (my fave is The 13 and a half lives of Captain Bluebear, and Rumo and His Miraculous Adventures)... and The Hobbit is lovely too :)

I found the best site for bookworms. EVER.

So I'm running broke; no money, so no new books. BUT while doing some research on how to save $$$ I found this website called PaperBackSwap.com. Essentially, I give away old books that sit around the house collecting dust and in return I get credits which allow me to receive books from other people's old forgotten libraries - FOR FREE. Yes. This is absolutely serious.

First, you post the books you don't want any more, on the website. the first 20 books you post earn you 2 credits. After that, you have to send books to earn credits, but we'll get to that.

Second, with the 2 credits you earned you can search thousands, maybe millions (I can't remember how many are in their database) for a new book you want to read and you request that book in return for (1) credit. SO FREAKIN COOL BECAUSE THEY WILL SEND YOU THAT BOOK AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING.

Third, here's the catch (which isn't even really a catch) In time, someone will request one of the books you posted. When they request that book, you accept to send it to them. You do have to pay the postage but Paperbackswap makes it more cost effective and easy for you. They have postage/labels that you print that you wrap the book in -yes, you wrap the book in paper. no boxes, packaging, etc. just the paper template they give you to print. Once you print the label thing, you wrap it around the book and VOILA ITS READY TO SEND. DONE. THATS IT. and in return for sending someone a book you didn't want anyway you get another credit so you can get another "new to you" book :)

OMG ITS FANTASTIC. I'm so happy ^.^ Someone will be sending me The Thirteenth Tale here shortly and I will be sending out My Jim, Delirium and The Glass Menagerie.

P.S. and it's not even like the site has shitty, B rated books found in the attic of someone's grandmother. NO. They have harry potter, water for elephants, kite runner, life of pi, the road, the help, the other boleyn girl; they have books on every genre imaginable: crafts, science, history, fiction, non fiction, etc, etc, ETC.
