“The most disrespected person in America is the Black Woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black Woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black Woman.”

-Malcolm X (1962)

[Multiple people have pointed out that the Sojourner Truth speech isn’t accurate. Interesting none of you bother recommending other resources to spread awareness of what it’s like to be a Black Woman while you are pulling attention away from the main point–Black Women need to be recognized. If you have such a problem with how accurate the speech is, just know I looked into it and apparently she approved the second version which also expresses how she’s feeling. Let’s move on or pm me and I can list some alternatives if it’s weighing on your mind.]

First, you want to moisturize these beautiful, thick curls with a leave-in conditioner, which will also help detangle the kinks. Now, part all your hair into sections and clip it away. You are doing an amazing job. Yay, you did it! That was so much fun. I knew you could do it.

Black woman: we have it so bad, society just loves to single us out and put us down. We need to uplift ourselves and each other as black women.
non-black women: why are you just making it about black women? You should try to uplift ALL women.

As a white female, I don’t give a shit what color your skin is. If you’re nice to me I’ll be nice to you. Simple as that.

We found one. ^^^ A white woman that just HAS to comment on a post and make it about her. She’s part of the “all women” group.

yo being black and depressed is hard as fuck. being black with anxiety is hard as fuck. being black with a chronic illness or disability is hard a fuck. everybody expects you to be ‘strong’ at all times and no one sees black people as complex or nuanced enough to be capable of suffering. no one ever thinks we could possibly need help. and if you’re a black woman, the moment you stop thinking about others and try to tend to yourself you’re a selfish lazy ungrateful bitch.

support black people, esp women, who need help. don’t just call us strong or tell us we’ll get through it, help us. protect us. uplift us. allow us to be beings capable of suffering. give us the same space you’d give white women to express our pain and be there for us like you would for anyone else.

don’t just like this, reblog it!

Snow White twist where Snow White is played by a dark-skinned woman with snow white hair

  • another twist: the story focuses on beauty in the context of racial prejudice
  • the stepmother is white and known as the ‘fairest of them all’ but then this girl with dark skin grows to be more beautiful than her and she doesn’t understand and she doesn’t like it and she is threatened by it
  • you can see where this is going

consider: la la land, but with lesbians

Black lesbians so that the film doesn’t grossly whitewash jazz and the actual struggles black musicians went through :)

Consider: La La Land with black lesbians played by actresses who can actually sing and dance so instead of being a lack luster imitation of the golden age musical it is the sparkling revival of the genre with modern sensibilities.

starring samira wiley and janelle monáe

“Though Black women and women of color are all groups who have historically been excluded from “feminist” progress, Black women have different experiences than other women of color. For example, according to Bustle in 2017, Black women are killed more frequently than any other race in America. Black women in America are most likely to die while giving birth because of racism in the medical field. Black women also have to deal with erasure from movements that they started, specifically people like Marsha P. Johnson in the Stonewall Riots.” by Brooklyn White on @hellogiggles

Non-blacks are so fucking annoying black women are the nicest, warmest people I’ve ever known and 90% of the time any ‘bad attitude’ from us is generated by people treating us like shit in the first place. Yall think you can tap dance all over our feelings and are shocked when we fight back lmao

Black girls deserve to learn free from bias and stereotypes.

Most black girls experience this hatred at schools. And classmates are not the only problem, there is no support from teachers, too. That’s why they get so affected by their school experiences. Black kids deserve to be treated just like everybody else, they want to study, they want to learn something ,too. However due to prejudice they are 5 times more likely to be suspended than their white peers and it can ruin their lives forever.  National Women’s Law Center created this video to change the situation. Join the movement to help black girls feel normal and get the same opportunities everybody else has.

Finally something focusing on black girls!
