I think it’s important that the films that we make reflect the times that we live in, to realize that big movies have the power to also shift culture. I think it’s really great that young comic book readers that look like me can see themselves in a film. I think it’s about time.
I feel like I’m ready for any dangerous situation that might come my way, provided I have a hammer on me.

I do believe in the potential of like-minded people coming together. As individuals in our respective fields, we have to draw on the energy of the culture and take the pulse of the world. And, in taking the pulse, we can make some of the best work of our time. In turn, I hope that can inspire people to be their best.

When I was auditioning all the time, ‘cause I would go on five or six auditions a week… They would send me the loglines of the character, and if it said “beautiful” or “gorgeous” or “pretty”, even, they would delete it before they sent it to me, because I would immediately call them and go, “I will not be cast! It’s not gonna happen!” Not to put myself down or anything, but I just always wanted to be a comedian.
I once read that I look like a fish inside of a chicken smoking a cigarette.
“Hey, if it were up to me, I’d only do movies in space. They can be romance, they can be action, they can be kiddie movies, they can be independent movies—I don’t care. I have an affinity for the limitless possibilities that the universe provides.“ — Zoe Saldana by Patrick Demarchelier for Allure Magazine, July 2016
I can’t think of anything clever or funny. All I can think of are inappropriate things.
When it comes down to it, I’d rather have an action figure than a Golden Globe.
